Abbey of Benedictine in Jarosław was founded on the St. Nicholas Hill in 1611 by the owner of this town Princess Anna Ostrogska. Early Baroque foundation surrounded by brick walls with eight towers include: the church of the monastery, residence chaplains, guest house and a number of outbuildings. Benedictines remained on the hill until 1782. After the dissolution of the Order they left the monastery. The church and monastery were quickly adapted to the needs of the Military Uniform Committee, and then the military barracks called Anna-Kaserne. New users Abbey exerted an enormous influence on the change of the existing functions of the existing buildings, and as it turns out planning assumptions almost 5 acres. The base for the examination of the topic were plans situational St. Nicholas Hill and inventories from the years 1883-1904 archives preserved in the collections of the Regional Office for the Protection of Monuments, based in Przemyśl. In the light of archival materials, it appears that the military has placed the monastery and the church turned into a warehouse and composition of hay. To the south and west of the monastery there were built six new stables for the horses, and along the walls, the shelters used for military equipment. The former guest house has been designed for kitchen and laundry facilities, while remaining in the immediate vicinity of the residence of the chaplains has been designed to forge. In the north wall there was extended bakery building, while in the eastern part of the old abbey there were marked space on the horse riding school, Garden Area for officers and a vegetable garden. It was appointed a new network of paths that facilitate communication between the barrack objects. The main axis ran from the tower to the east gate. The second one was directed to the south, toward the bridge connecting St. Nicholas Mount of the John Hill, where the main headquarters was located and Kloster-Kaserne. In order to improve communication the Austrians erected a metal bridge between these hills, which replaced the old wooden bridge. History of Saint Hill of Nicholas shows that changed its owners and users, and not only Benedictine nuns managed Abbey. In the years 1782-1918, it remained in the hands of the Austrians. Although it served of the military, not Jarosław Benedictines, it seems that, in a sense, the rule of St. Benedict was still continued on the hill. It provided, inter alia, self-sufficient religious congregation with a firm pressure to the inside of the walls there were all that is required monks. After the dissolution of the monastery, Anna-Kaserne included almost everything what the soldiers needed: apartments, kitchens, laundry rooms, toilets, vegetable garden and recreation area, watch tower, stables for horses, riding arenas and warehouses for military equipment and ammunition. Thus, the assumption is, in terms of defensive walls with towers, was almost selfsufficient, ”small fortress”. Nevertheless, during the reign of the Austrians on the hill, but interesting for the history of the city and garrison Jarosław, it isn’t the glorious history of this special place. Changes and damage done during the use of the old abbey by the Austrian conqueror, and then at the time of World War I, they are already irreversible loss of tangible and intangible heritage of the Benedictine Congregation and for Jarosław. Dans le cadre des travaux menés par le Centre de Documentation des Monuments Historiques de Varsovie, an a entrepris la rédaction du catalogue de la documentation graphique en matière d’architecture et d’urbanisme faisant partie des Actes de la Commission Gouvernementale des Affaires Intérieures (KRSW) aux Archives Centrales des Actes Anciens. Cette documentation relève principalement des années 1815—1868 mais une certaine quantité de ces actes concerne encore la première quinzaine d’années du XIXème siècle. La rédaction du catalogue ne prend point en considération les documents dits „Varsoviana” qui seront publiés par les Archives Centrales des Actes Anciens, Les dessins présentent des plans architectoniques et des plans urbains envoyés à la „KRSW” afin de concerter avec les autorités centrales, les investissements entrepris dans les villes. A coté de l ’architecture de l ’habitat, il y a des projets de bâtiments d’utilité publique destinés à des fins diverses telles que: bureaux, services, production, culture etc. Les projets des églises n’entrent pas dans le cadre de ce matériel, faisant partie d’autres ensembles archivaux. Les plans urbanistiques ont été envoyés à la Commission, en rapport à l ’action de régulation des rues menée de façon intensive et celle des améliorations générales (pavage, canalisation etc). Le classement du matériel s’effectue à la base des principes appliqués dans l ’élaboration des collections cartographiques archivales, avec quelques modifications résultant du caractère de ce matériel et du fait que le dit catalogue est destiné aux conservateurs et aux historiens de l ’art et de la culture. Le nombre des positions du catalogue dépassera probablement 1.000 objectifs (actuellement — plus de 800 dessins ont été catalogués). Le matériel ainsi élaboré fournit de multiples informations directes et indirectes sur le caractère de la politique urbaine en Pologne à l ’époque; il transmet la documentation concernant les nombreux monuments et ensembles historiques, il illustre l’activité de certains architectes. Et, en plus, il présente de multiples contributions à l ’histoire de la formation de la conscience sociale et culturelle de la 1ère moitié du XIXème siècle fortement influencée par les idées rationalistes du siècle précédent.

Opis:
The article presents some aspects connected with organisation of preservation of historical monuments in Roumania. The preservation work is strictly separated from museum work. The highest and also the only preserving authority, called under the new post-war act of 1960, is the Direction of Historical Monuments; whereas museum work is subordinate to the Ministry of Culture and Art. Activities, such as studying and designing of preservation work as well as survey and supervision, are concentrated in the Direction of Historical Monuments. Moreover The Commitee for Culture and The Building Commitee of each district are concerned with the problems of historical monuments. Quite a boom may be observed now in the way of restoration, because of recent including of those problems into the sphere of touristics development programme. Hence most objects being restored at the moment lie in Bukovina, in Central Transylvania, in Bucureçti and its proximity, as well as in Dobruja. The preservation of historical monuments enjoys in Roumania the status of cultural, national, almost patriotic action, although it finally yields a return. „Green light for preservation problems” and the state is consequently financing that undertaking. Some methods and final effects of preservating certain buildings may be objectionable, but the grand style in which the works are conducted rends one absolutely jealous. The reconstruction of the old dwellingshopping center in Bucureçti sets a good example, as well as the building of Vlach Skansen in Curtiçoara, Oltenia.
