    Opis:
    The Diocese of Świdnica has existed since 2004. So far, only one pipe organ has been built in its territory. In 2005 the Wrocław-based Cynar company performed the installation of a 38-voice instrument with an electronic action for the Church of the Elevation of the Holy Cross in Kłodzko. For its construction the company used the organ of a deconsecrated church in Germany, i.e. St. Peter’s Church in Frankfurt am Main. In other newly-built churches electronic instruments have been installed, mainly for financial reasons. Since the diocese was founded 10 years ago, 25 instruments have undergone thorough renovation. An important event was the general renovation of the 50-voice organ in the basilica of the Visitation of Our Lady in Bardo which was carried out by the Jehmlich company from Dresden.

    A particular favourite amongst the numerous 19th century „manuals for organists” was the Handbuch für Organisten, which was published for the first time in 1871 by Leuckart in Leipzig. Its author was Bernhard Kothe, a famous Silesian organist, conductor, composer, teacher, publicist, editor and an organiser of musical life. The Handbuch is a handy volume destined mainly for liturgical use. The collection comprises 346 smaller pieces of organ music, 46 modulation samples as well as an additional compilation of 18 easy preludes in the most frequently used ranges. The works are sorted in order of pitch (24 ranges) and, within the different ranges, in order of size. The shortest pieces were meant to be played as interludes between the stanzas of a song, while the longer pieces were meant to be performed as preludes or postludes. The collection was compiled from the works of various composers. The highest number of compositions – almost 50 of them - are the work of Kothe himself. In 1879 the Handbuch was continued in a second and third volume which aimed to address an audience of more experienced and better trained organists.

    Idee reformy cecyliańskiej bardzo szybko znalazły oddźwięk na ziemi kłodzkiej. Już pod koniec 1868 r. w Lądku-Zdroju powstało pierwsze koło cecyliańskie, które założył ks. prefekt Franz Urban. W 1873 r. przekształciło się ono w Stowarzyszenie Cecyliańskie Hrabstwa Kłodzkiego i działało na rzecz poprawy stanu muzyki kościelnej aż do 1939 r. W artykule omówiono sposoby realizacji podstawowych celów reformy, którymi były: ożywienie i upowszechnienie chorału gregoriańskiego, troska o śpiew chóralny, pielęgnowanie ludowej pieśni kościelnej w języku niemieckim, a także dbałość o kościelną grę organową. Postulaty te wcielane były w życie, w mniejszym lub większym stopniu, przez chóry parafialne nawet w najmniejszych ośrodkach kościelnych Kłodzczyzny. Muzycy działający w hrabstwie nie byli jednak ortodoksyjnymi cecylianistami. Dzięki impulsom płynącym z Wrocławia, a także w oparciu o rodzimą tradycję z domieszką wpływów czeskich, msze wokalno-instrumentalne i muzyka religijna z towarzyszeniem orkiestry wykonywane były równolegle z dziełami a cappella.
    The ideas of the Cecilian Reform Movement found a rapid response in the Kłodzko region. The first Cecilian Circle was founded by the Reverend Prefect Franz Urban in Lądek-Zdrój as early as the end of 1868. In 1873 it evolved into the Cecilian Association of the County of Kłodzko and promoted the improvement of Church music until as late as 1939. The article discusses the ways to achieve the basic objectives of the reform movement, which were the revival and popularisation of Gregorian Chant, the promotion of choral singing, the cultivation of traditional popular hymns in German as well as a serious effort in favour of church organ music. Those postulates were, to a greater or lesser degree, put into practice by parish choirs even in the smallest church communities of the region. However, the musicians serving in the County were not orthodox Cecilians. Thanks to the impulses coming from Wrocław, but also based on a domestic tradition with an admixture of Czech influences, vocal-instrumental masses and religious music with orchestral accompaniment were performed simultaneously with a cappella works.
