Opis:
Modelling of a decision-maker’s preferences in multi-criteria decision analysis is performed using weights that reflect the relative importance of the given decision criteria. The determination of accurate values of the weights is therefore of considerable importance. Numerous means and methods are used for this purpose, such as: the entropy method (i.e., the method of objective weights), the Simos method, the SWARA method, the ANP or AHP methods, and many others. This paper analyses the DEMATEL method, frequently used to identify cause-and-effect relationships. Nowadays, it is often used in multi-criteria decision analyses. In the opinion of some authors, DEMATEL may be useful also to determine the weights of criteria. However, the approach presented by these authors has certain drawbacks. The present paper proposes a different approach to the weighting procedure using DEMATEL. Using numerical examples, it also presents weights determined by this method and compared to those obtained using the AHP method.

Opis:
Decision-making in the field of information systems has become more complex due to larger number of alternatives, multiple and sometimes conflicting goals, and an increasingly uncertain environment. Software systems play unique roles in the translation of corporate strategic and tactical plans into actions. We present the results of a study designed to develop and evaluate an Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) model to support decision making in the selection of appropriate software system to meet organizational needs. Our results show the viability of the AHP methodology in software system/project selection, and points to the importance of functionality (35.26%), quality (22.00%) and usability (19.34%) criteria in the overall decision process. Cost and vendor service did not seem to exert significant weight in the decision matrix.

Opis:
Almost ten years have passed since some seminal structured literature reviews about multi-criteria decision-making for green supplier selection were published. We aimed to investigate the evolution of intellectual structures in this field through a structured literature review and bibliometric analysis using publications between 2010 and 2022. We noted that mathematical and analytical approaches are still dominating, and the complexity of the methods has increased. Bibliometrically, their theoretical foundation and techniques are the same despite the change of leading papers over time. Our contribution consist in extending earlier studies and discussing the evolution of the field.

Opis:
Graphical analysis for interactive aid (GAIA) and the dominance-based rough set approach (DRSA) are compared as methods of explaining the solution to a multi-criteria ranking problem obtained using the preference ranking organization method for the enrichment of evaluations (PROMETHEE). The classification of 52 municipalities in Northern Quebec in terms of the socioeconomic situation is based on three attributes: home conditions, employment and demographic potential. The classification provided to the decision maker is aggregated information. To facilitate decision-making, the problem is first considered as a sorting task, in which municipalities are distributed into three categories: best (B), worst (W) or intermediate (I), based on the PROMETHEE ranking. In order to improve the position of a municipality thus categorized, the decision maker needs information that will answer the questions: What criteria are relevant to the municipality? What criteria are in conflict? What are the critical values of the criteria? We show that GAIA and DRSA provide convergent and complementary information that allow enrichment of the answers to these questions.
