    The main purpose of this note is to present a method for solving the linear-quadratic optimal regulator for discrete, linear general two-dimensional system with constant coefficients. The quadratic optimal regulator problem can be formulated: find of sequence of control vectors in fixed rectangle, which transfer the system to given final state vector and minimizes the quadratic performance index, with constraints of control and state vector. This problem, by transformation for systemand performance index is reduced to equivalent mathematical programming problem. Necessary and sufficient conditions are established for the existence of a solution to this problem. With slight modifications the considerations can be extended for 2-D systems with variable coefficient and n-D linear systems.

    Celem pracy jest przedstawienie trzech najczęściej stosowanych metod dowodzenia twierdzenia Poissona dla zależnych zmiennych losowych.
    The authors present three methods for proving Poisson's theorem. The first method is based on papers of L. Takács [J. Amer. Statist. Assoc. 62 (1967), 102–113; MR0217832] and J. Galambos [J. Appl. Probab. 11 (1974), 219–222; MR0358923], the second uses results of D. A. Freedman [Ann. Probab. 2 (1974), 256–269; MR0370694] and M. R. Leadbetter [Z. Wahrsch. Verw. Gebiete 28 (1973/74), 298–309; MR0362465], and the third method follows the considerations contained in another paper by Galambos [ibid. 32 (1975), no. 3, 197–207; MR0380941]. The paper contains known theorems but some of the proofs are new.

    The system of equations, which we study, consists of linear partial differential equations and of nonlinear ordinary differential equations for internal variables. The existence theory for such systems was studied first by the french mathematicians G. Duvaut and J.L. Lions [1]. Next we can find in the literature a work of C. Johnson [2] on a quasi-static problem for a special model. Then in the nineties we can find more works in the domain. This work consists of two parts. In the first part we will classify constitutive equations and therefore we define constitutive equations of monotone type. Moreover by transformation of internal variables we will enlarge the class of constitutive equations, for which we can prove a. global in time existence theorem for large initial data. But there exist models, which are not of monotone type and which we can not transform to monotone type. Therefore we must study such models with other methods. This is the second part, of the work. We write about the energy method for the model of Bodner-Partom.

    W artykule uogólniono twierdzenie Meinardusa(1963). Uogólnienie to jest w dwóch kierunkach: po pierwsze, rezygnujemy z konkretnych przestrzeni funkcyjnych na rzecz dowolnych przestrzeni unormowanych i po drugie, podprzestrzeń modeli - elementów aproksymujących - może mieć wymiar dowolny. Operator, ze względu na który badamy niezmienniczość aproksymacji, jest liniowy.
    From the text: "We generalize a theorem of G. Meinardus [Arch. Rational Mech. Anal. 14 (1963), 301–303; MR0156143] in two directions: first, instead of concrete function spaces we consider arbitrary normed spaces and secondly, we deal with the subspace of models-approximating elements-that can be of arbitrary measure. The operator in regard to which we study the invariability of the approximation is linear.''

    The author reviews results (without proofs) from the theory of minimal projective operators. As he remarks, an excellent introduction to this theory is the survey paper by E. W. Cheney and K. H. Price [Approximation theory (Proc. Sympos., Lancaster, 1969), pp. 261–289, Academic Press, London, 1970; MR0265842]. The author is motivated by a number of papers in this topic published after 1970, bringing essentially new results, e.g., an existence theorem for the minimal operators in the class of all projective operators from a linear normed space onto its subspace due to P. D. Morris and Cheney [J. Reine Angew. Math. 270 (1974), 61–76; MR0358188]. The paper consists of the following chapters: (0) Introduction; (1) Projective operators; (2) Fundamental properties of minimal projective operators; (3) Existence and characterization of minimal projective operators; (4) Some polynomial projective operators in the space C[−1,1]; References (45 items).

    We prove existence and uniqueness of strong global in tme solution for a subclass of monotone constitutive equations in the theory of inelastic material behaviour of metals without the coercivity assumption for the free energy function. We approximate noncoercive models by a sequence of coercive problems and prove the convergence result.
