    This case study shows the consequences of a late diagnosis and treatment of a child suffering from a chronic, recurrent inflammation of the middle ear, resulting in conductive, fluctuating, mild hearing loss. The article presents the child’s communication and psychological problems stemming from hearing difficulties. This study uses three diagnostic tools in order to comprehensively assess the individual developmental spheres of the boy. The final part of the article contains conclusions and postulates regarding the importance of early therapeutic care.

    Opis:
    In the clinical presentation of dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), speech and communication disorders coexist with cognitive deficits. Discourse is impaired both at the syntactic and lexical levels. The aim of this study was to demonstrate the existence of scintigraphic correlates with lexical and syntactic errors in the patients’ narrative speech. Twelve patients with DLB participated in the study. Analysis shows relationships between selected aspects of narrative discourse in DLB and cerebral hypoperfusion. It has identified correlations between lexical and syntactic impairment of speech and hypoperfusion within temporal, parietal and occipital areas, both in left and right hemisphere. The ability to create narrative speech on the basis of complex pictorial material requires the engagement of the perceptual function, which may explain the relationship between discourse impairment and posterior, in particular right-sided, hypoperfusion.
    W obrazie klinicznym otępienia z ciałami Lewy’ego (DLB) zaburzenia mowy i komunikacji współwystępują z deficytami funkcji poznawczych. W zakresie dyskursu odnotowuje się zaburzenia w aspekcie syntaktycznym i leksykalnym. Badanie miało na celu wykazanie korelacji scyntygraficznych z nieprawidłowościami leksykalnymi i syntaktycznymi w mowie opowieściowej chorych. W badaniu uczestniczyło 12 pacjentów z DLB. Wyniki przeprowadzonej analizy ukazują zależności pomiędzy wybranymi aspektami dyskursu narracyjnego w DLB a zaburzeniami perfuzji mózgowej. Stwierdzono, że istnieje zależność pomiędzy zaburzeniami w aspekcie leksykalnym i syntaktycznym wypowiedzi a hipoperfuzją okolic skroniowych, ciemieniowych i potylicznych w półkuli lewej i prawej. Zdolność do tworzenia wypowiedzi mówionej na podstawie złożonego materiału ilustracyjnego wymaga zaangażowania percepcji wzrokowej, co może wyjaśniać związek zaburzeń dyskursu z hipoperfuzją tylną, szczególnie po stronie prawej.

    This article says about problems with diagnosis of delayed speech end language development and delayed because of oligophrenia. Speech and language therapists have a lots of doubts with analysis of language announces and causes of speech and language delayed and impairment. There are many causes of delayed speech and language development. Observation and document analysis are very important during differencing diagnosis of speech disorders in children. Educating children with speech and language delay needs intervention speech and language therapists and psychological diagnosis. Speech and language are improving when a child is intelligent. Children often have problem with learning language speaking when the mental development is less than normal, there is any progress. It is necessary to analysis and to observe children’s communications behaviour and cause of speech disorders. The examination is very important to diagnose and to create the program of speech and language therapy.

    This article presents the results of research carried out to assess the potential non-auditory causes of articulation defects in deaf children. Who was tested were twenty people with hearing impairment between the ages of eleven and seventeen, whose functional hearing is 40 dB on average, as assessed on the basis of tonal audiometry in a free sound field. The study involved a questionnaire assessing the structure of the articulation apparatus, a questionnaire assessing the fitness and muscle tone of the articulation apparatus, and a questionnaire assessing functions (physiological functions) within the articulation apparatus. The obtained results point to the need for an in-depth diagnosis of articulation and its condition among deaf patients, the determination of pathomechanisms of sound disturbances in the assessed speech, and the inclusion of broadly understood preventive mechanisms derived from logopaedics in the therapeutic process.

    The aim of the presented analysis is to show the articulation tendencies of the deformations of the consonant cluster /st/ in the speech of children with specific language impairment (SLI). The research material consisted of 30 words containing the consonant cluster /st/ in three word positions. The study group consisted of eight children (two girls and six boys) diagnosed with SLI aged between 4–5 years. The words were analyzed for the presence of such phonetic and phonological processes as: fortition (strengthening), lenition (weakening), reduction, metathesis, epenthesis, articulation splitting, etc. The article concisely presents the development process of consonant clusters in the ontogenesis of speech.
    Celem przedstawionej analizy jest ukazanie tendencji artykulacyjnych odkształceń grupy spółgłoskowej [st] w mowie dzieci ze specyficznym zaburzeniem językowym (SLI). Materiał badawczy obejmował 30 wyrazów zawierających grupę [st] w trzech pozycjach wyrazowych. Grupę badawczą stanowiło 8 dzieci (2 dziewczynki i 6 chłopców) z diagnozą SLI w wieku od 4 do 5 lat. Wyrazy analizowano pod kątem obecności takich procesów fonetyczno-fonologicznych, jak: wzmocnienie artykulacyjne, osłabienie artykulacyjne, redukcja, metateza, epenteza, rozszczepienie artykulacji itp. W artykule w sposób syntetyczny przedstawiono proces rozwoju grup spółgłoskowych w ontogenezie mowy.
