    Opis:
    The aim of the essay is to discuss Kamil Pietrowiak’s work Świat po omacku. Etnograficzne studium (nie)widzenia i (nie)sprawności (2019) [The World by Feel: An Ethnographic Study of (Not) Seeing and (Dis)Ability]. In his book, Pietrowiak introduces and explains the cognitive limitations of blind people and social perceptions of blindness itself, which shape everyday life for people in this group. Pietrowiak’s analyses and reflections are based on the results of ethnographic research (collaborative ethnography) conducted among the blind, their family members and friends, and the employees of institutions and organizations working on their behalf. The author of the essay believes that Pietrowiak’s approach is innovative and that he has made a valuable contribution to the subject, especially in consideration of the general level of scholarly and popular knowledge of disabilities.

    In this article, the author discusses Monika Sznajderman’s reportage Pusty las [The Empty Forest] in the context of Geertz’s blurred genres. The author mainly addresses the condition of a person (a researcher, an anthropologist) who does not explore the Other but is the Other. In Sznajderman’s book, hospitality is a basic category; the researcher studying a difficult heritage — here, the Lemko region — is a guest who must choose either to look at or to ignore the history of his or her hosts. He or she can feel at home or erase all trace of the hosts’ presence. Perhaps in the end, as Maria Stepanova writes, the researcher can “breathe the air of post-memory.” The author treats Sznajderman’s book as an example of anthropological reportage and postulates the emergence of a new genre, on the border between the social sciences and literature.

    The article endeavours to describe the COVID-19 reality through the lens of a topos of European culture, locus horridus. In analysing and interpreting online news about crimes with the coronavirus either in the foreground or the background, the author checks whether elements of the locus horridus topos have kept pace with the modern day and whether the pandemic has evoked mythical thinking. He presents a typology of pandemic banditry fit for the Olsen Gang, imbued with humour, comedy and cabaret.

    The aim of the text is to present the use of the analytical autoethnographic method in studying the “art&science” phenomenon. It is attempt to show that the role of the artist can combine with the role of the ethnographer. The objects of study are the multilevel relations emerging during the realization of artistic projects in biological laboratories. These relations concern both humans (the artist, the scientists) and non-humans (laboratory organisms, equipment). On the basis of actor-network theory, the author presents how the liminal status of ethnographic research is modified when it connects with art. The form of conducting the research is both an example of activity in the art and science field and a new methodological proposal for the study of science and technology.

    The subject of this essay is the constituting of subjectivity as reflected in neoliberal technologies of management manifesting themselves in the coaching relationship. This question is addressed on the basis of ethnographic research conducted among coaches and persons being coached in Poland. However, the form of the essay goes beyond the qualitative framework of traditional ethnographic research. In regard to autoethnographic experience, the initial goal of making an ethnography of neoliberalism was achieved though actions and strategies that in themselves could be described as neoliberal (that is, conducted in terms of the imperative of self-concern and thinking in categories of potential gains and losses).

    The Józef Burszta Digital Archive [Cyfrowe Archiwum im. Józefa Burszty; http://cyfrowearchiwum.amu.edu.pl] is an online platform established in 2014 for publication of audiovisual materials collected since the 1950s by the Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.The Józef Burszta Digital Archive functions on the basis of Creative Commons licenses and has the status of a social archive. There are broad applications for its resources both in academe and beyond. The author discusses the bases for founding the archive, the specifics of its accessible materials, and plans for its future activities.
