Opis:: At the time of raising environmental protection standards, the economic development makes it necessary to use energy coming from sources other than oil and gas. Biofuels are an alternative here. Thanks to biofuels, carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced in a natural way. The article attempts to present and assess the activities of the public administration undertaken to make biofuels derived from plants more popular in Poland. These activities have been examined during the audit on the use of biofuels and bio-components in transportation. The authors of the article, on the basis of the audit findings and literature related to the topic, present why the forecast results have not been achieved, and the role of performance auditing.

Opis:: The audit covered almost all stages of the hunting management, starting with administrative activities, such as division of regions into hunting districts and categorisation thereof, leasing of hunting districts and their management transfer, as well as calculation and distribution of rent for their use. The issues related directly to hunting have also been audited, such as the regularity and realisation of annual hunting plans, documentation of hunting, realisation of statutory objectives by game protection centres, securing of the State Treasury’s and citizens’ interests with regard to damages due to hunting, analysis of financial results of hunting management, the functioning of the State Hunting Guard, and the supervision of hunting.

Opis:: Unpleasant odours that are by-products of numerous industrial plants affect the majority of Polish people. However, to date no regulations have been introduced aimed to protect people against the effects of odours and to regulate the basis for and the scope of responsibility of those who emit them. Moreover, adoption of appropriate regulations is very important because the volume of waste that should necessarily be recycled has not been decreasing. This is also related to the need for establishing waste management plants whose activity, due to, among others, the odours they produce, may lead to social conflicts. The article attempts to analyse the binding regulations on the problems related to odours, on the basis of waste management, and to present the constitutional aspects with regard to this issue.

Opis:: NIK has examined the appropriateness and effectiveness of the activities of selfgovernmental bodies (leaders of local self-government units, mayors, etc.) in relation to connecting – to the local water and sewage system – of all the inhabitants that are obliged to do so. NIK’s analyses comprised, among others, the correctness of the estimates of the planned growth in the number of the users of the planned networks; the reliability of the identification of all the buildings that should be connected; the execution from the owners of the buildings of their obligation to get connected to the water and sewage system; the activities related to informing and educating the inhabitants aimed at increasing the number of the users of the water and sewage system, and co-financing of the connection process.
