Opis:
An adaptive iterative receiver for layered space-time coded (LSTC) systems is proposed. The proposed receiver, based on a joint adaptive iterative detection and decoding algorithm, adaptively suppresses and cancels co-channel interference. The LMS algorithm and maximum a posteriori (MAP) algorithm are utilized in the receiver structure. A partially filtered gradient LMS (PFGLMS) algorithm is also applied to improve the convergence speed and tracking ability of the adaptive detector with a slight increase in complexity. The proposed receiver is analysed in a slow and fast Rayleigh fading channels in multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems.

Opis:
In this paper, a comparative study between a blind algorithm, based on higher order cumulants, and adaptive algorithms, i.e. Recursive Least Squares (RLS) and Least Mean Squares (LMS) for MultiCarrier Code Division Multiple Access (MC-CDMA) systems equalization is presented. Two practical frequency-selective fading channels, called Broadband Radio Access Network (BRAN A, BRAN B) normalized for MC-CDMA systems are considered. In the part of MC-CDMA equalization, the Zero Forcing (ZF) and the Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) equalizer techniques were used. The simulation results in noisy environment and for different signal to noise ratio (SNR) demonstrate that the blind algorithm gives approximately the same results obtained by adaptive algorithms. However, the proposed algorithm presents the advantage to estimate the impulse response of these channels blindly except that the input excitation is non-Gaussian, with the low calculation cost, compared with the adaptive algorithms exploiting the information of input and output for the impulse response channel estimation.

Opis:
Instability of the local oscillator causes phase noise – a phenomenon that is a disadvantage and is considered to be a major obstacle in the functioning of coherent optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CO-OFDM) systems. An attempt has been made in this paper to reduce the effects of common phase errors generated by phase noise. In this paper, a least mean square (LMS) based algorithm is proposed for estimation of phase noise. Using this proposed algorithm, the major problem of phase ambiguity caused by cycle slip is avoided and the bit error rate is greatly improved. Further, there is no requirement for modifying the frame structure of OFDM using this algorithm. A CO-OFDM system with the 8-PSK technique is used to implement the algorithm concerned. Furthermore, the algorithm, using the 8-PSK modulation technique, is analyzed and compared with the existing QPSK technique and with other algorithms. The investigations reveal that 8-PSK outperforms existing LMS algorithms using other techniques and significantly reduces the bit error rate.

Opis:
Universal filtered multi-carrier (UFMC) modulation is a very powerful candidate to be employed for future 5G mobile systems. It overcomes the limitations and restrictions in current modulation techniques employed in 4G mobile systems and supports future applications, such as machineto-machine (M2M), device-to-device (D2D), and vehicle-tovehicle (V2V) communications. In this paper, we address the estimation of UFMC fading channels based on the comb-type pilot arrangement in the frequency domain. The basic solution is to estimate the fading channel based on the mean square error (MSE) or least square (LS) criteria with adaptive implementation using least mean square (LMS) or recursive least square (RLS) algorithms. However, these adaptive filters seem not to be effective, as they cannot fully exploit fading channel statistics, particularly at high Doppler rates. To take advantage of these statistics, time-variations of the fading channel are modeled by an autoregressive process (AR), and are tracked by an H∞ filter. This, however, requires that AR model parameters be known, which are estimated by solving the Yule-Walker equation (YWE), based on the Bessel autocorrelation function (ACF) of the fading channel with a known Doppler rate. Results of Matlab simulations show that the proposed H∞ filter-based channel estimator is more effective when compared with existing estimators.

Using a progressive information technologies for development of web-based courses and their administration brings a lot of practical and theoretical problems. We know web course problem is only small solution concerning construction of a large entire web-based e-learning environment. One of a practical problem is how to construct web-based electronic courses that have to meet international AICC standards. Implementation of such strict statements resulted in a lot of small or larger difficulties if we had used an elementary HTML editor. Using a special web course oriented editors can absolutely solve this problem. The second problem is construction of the web-based e-learning application that can administrate such web courses and takes into consideration AICC regulations. Development of such web applications is founded on the latest web technologies. This article introduces one approach to the modeling of the two most important components (web-based course, web-based application) of the web-based e-learning environment, convenient for Military Academy in Brno and Czech army. The article outlines the structure of web subject, e-learning environment and their implementation. The LMS's structure and its functionality, based on a snaps algebra, belong to important results of the article.
