Opis:
There are many ways to describe and recognize the human face. The paper shows one of them - the feature based method. It also considers usefulness of the face geometrical measurements in recognition and also the geometrical dependence on the features. The paper treats on the feature points detection and takes into consideration six of them, which are: two eyes, two eyebrows, nose and lips. It shows a detailed algorithm of the proposed method and describes its advantages and disadvantages. It also describes a filtering, feature points extraction and gives formulas for calculation of a face likeness coordinates. At the very end it concludes with experiments and examples of the proposed method.

Opis:
The paper presents an algorithm enabling a fully automatic detection of characteristic areas on thermograms containing patients' faces in a front projection. A resolution of problems occurring at the segmentation of face images, such as a change of position, orientation and scale, has been proposed. In addition, attempts to eliminate the effect of the background and of disturbances caused by the haircut and the hairline were made. The algorithm may be used to detect selected points and areas of a face or as a preliminary component in the face recognition, as a development of optical analysis methods or in the quantitative analysis of face on thermograms.

Knowledge is a key factor to the personal success. The certifications are the instant tools that are commonly available to assess the personal success. In an e-Learning environment, where the learning projects are delivered with the aim to provide a professional or an academic certification, it is integral that the Learning Management Systems provide security features that will ensure the credibility of the online real-time assessments and the certification. In a conventional examination environment, there will be invigilators to overlook the examinees, on the contrary, in an on-line examination environment; it is vital that an invigilation mechanism is implemented to ensure the integrity of the examination. In this article we present a face based access control system for online e-Learning systems.

Opis:
This article presents an attempt to improve Eigenface algorithm efficiency by using image pre–filtering in order to eliminate background areas of the picture and illumination influence. The background is treated as noise, so when noise is present then efficiency of the algorithm decreases. In order to eliminating this inconvenience, analysed image is pre–filtered by means of the colour classifier. The classifier eliminates pixels which have different colour than an average human skin colour on a digital photo. This causes that the Eigenface algorithm is less sensitive to background noise. The illumination influence was minimized by using hue information instead of traditionally used luminance. The main advantage of the proposed approach is possibility of using in environments where diverse image background texture and scene illumination appears. The eigenfaces technique can be applied in handwriting analysis, voice recognition, hand gestures interpretation and medical imaging.

The Relevance Vector Machine (RVM), a Bayesian treatment of generalized linear model of identical functional form to the Support Vector Machine (SVM), is the recently developed machine learning framework capable of building simple models from large sets of candidate features. The paper describes the application of the RVM to a classification algorithm of face feature vectors, obtained by Eigenfaces method. Moreover, the results of the RVM classification are compared with those obtained by using both the Support Vector Machine method and the method based on the Euclidean distance.

This paper presents the possibilities of applying the Support Vector Machines (SVM) in the process of automatic human face recognition. It is described how the existing methods of face recognition can be improved by the SVM. Moreover, a new approach to the multi-method fusion utilising the SVM is proposed. Usefulness of all the methods described in the paper improving the face recognition effectiveness by the SVM is confirmed by the experimental results.

Opis:
Human face recognition is a multi-stage process within which many classification problems must be solved. This is performed by learning machines which elaborate classification rules based on a given training set. Therefore, one of the most important issues is selection of a training set which would properly represent the data that will be further classified. This paper presents an approach which utilizes genetic algorithms for selecting classifiers' training sets. This approach was implemented for the Support Vector Machines which is applied in two areas of automatic human face recognition: face verification and feature vectors comparison. Effectiveness of the presented concept was confirmed with appropriate experiments which results are described in this paper.

Opis:
Aged people, patients with chronic disease, patients at remote location need continuous monitoring under healthcare professionals. Remote health monitor is likely to be an effective approach to provide healthcare service in a simple and cost effective way. However, effective implementation of this type of framework needs consideration of variety of security threats. In this paper, a layer based remote health monitor framework is proposed to analyze health condition of patients from remote places. Beside this, a multi-modal biometric authentication mechanism is proposed here to reduce misuse of health data and biometrics templates in heterogeneous cloud environment. Main focus of the paper is to design semi-continuous authentication mechanism after establishing mutual 1:1 trust relationship among the participants in cloud environment. Behavioral biometrics keystroke analysis is fused with physiological biometrics face recognition to enhance accuracy of authentication. Instead of considering traditional performance evaluation parameters for biometrics, this paper considers a few performance metrics for determining efficiency of semi-continuous verification of the proposed framework.
