Opis:
Almost all kinds of fuel applied in combustion engines come from refining industry, in which crude oil serves as basic raw material. However, there are also searched other sources of hydrocarbons which can be used directly or as additives to conventional fuels. The most popular in this regard are vegetable oils such as rapeseed oil, from which are produced esters used as fuel for diesel engines. On the other hand, as additives to gasoline can be used alcohols derived from the fermentation of agricultural products. Another way to obtain liquid hydrocarbons is pyrolysis of scrap tires. In this article, such pyrolytic product is analysed in terms of its fluorescence properties compared to the fluorescent properties of substances derived from the distillation of the pyrolysis product in three following temperatures: 160, 204 and 350 ºC. All the tested substances show relatively strong fluorescence in ultraviolet range. Fluorometric spectra were performed applying the spectrofluorometer Hitachi F-7000 FL with 1x1 cm quartz cuvette. Studied substances were previously diluted in n-hexane to obtain concentration 4 ppm. Amount of fluorescent peaks and their positions depends on kind of distillate. Ipso facto fluorescence method seems be suitable much more – than chemical analyse – for quick identification of substances constituting a components of distillate obtained from pyrolytic product.

Opis:
One of way to obtain liquid hydrocarbons can be pyrolysis of scrap tires. The hydrocarbon substances produced by this method may be an addition to traditional fuels, i.e. gasolines or fuels for diesel engines. In laboratory conditions at Department of Mechatronics of University of Warmia and Mazury there were obtained pyrolytic products and prepared three distillates related to temperatures 160, 204 and 350ºC. Analyses of shapes of fluorescence spectra were carried out in Department of Physics of Gdynia Maritime University. Spectra of fluorescence were prepared applying the spectrofluorimeter Hitachi F-7000 FL, which allows applying of excitation wavelength from 200 nm until 600 nm, whereas analysing of emitted, can be performed until 750 nm. In here reported study excitation and emission range for the most intense fluorescence are presented. There were prepared four solutions of pyrolytic products in the n-hexane: 4 ppm, 20 ppm, 100 ppm and 500 ppm. In order to show dependence of intensity fluorescence and shapes of excitation-emission spectra on type of distillate and concentration both kind of visualization – three-dimensional and as contour maps – are shown in this article. In analysed range of wavelengths, intensity of fluorescence grows with concentration of oil, whereas structure of the shape of spectra simplify when concentration increases. The presented effects associated with the fluorescence of pyrolysis products allow to predict the possibility of developing a method for determining the content of these substances in mixtures with petroleum refining products and other liquid hydrocarbons.

Opis:
Structure of the fleet of the passenger cars registered in Poland in the 1991-2006 years has undergone significant changes due to a dynamically developing situation, both on the domestic and international automotive market. Over the last fifteen years there has been a growing tendency observed in Poland, which led to an over twofold increase of passenger cars being registered. Changes in both makes and age structure of the fleet of the passenger cars registered in Poland are affected by fluctuations of sales figures of the new cars, but first of all by the used cars import. The 90-ties brought about an improvement in the financial situation of certain social groups in Poland as well as increased availability and ease to obtain loans to buy cars. This resulted in the increase of the new passenger cars sales. Since 2000 there has been a decreasing tendency observed in this aspect, but at the same time growing interest in the individual import of used passenger cars to Poland. Especially, since Poland's accession to European Union on the 1-st of May 200 Analysis of both makes and age structure of the fleet of the passenger cars registered in Poland for the first time in the years 2004-2006 as well as those removed from the register, indicates a constant growth in the population of old cars, and increase of their share in the car fleet structure. In the period under scrutiny, cars removed from the register, were dominated by the cars of at least mp-teen years of age, including those over 20 years. Those removed from the register were first of all the cars of makes and models whose low technological quality, and additionally high fuel consumption, excluded them from their further economical and safe usage.

Opis:
Egyptian waste cooking oils have special specifications because it expose to high temperatures during use for long hours. In the present experimental study, the performance and emissions of a four strokes, single cylinder, aircooled diesel engine fuelled with two different biodiesel from Egyptian used cooking oil (palm and sunflower) are evaluated at different speeds. The measured performance parameters include torque, fuel consumption and exhaust gas temperature. Brake power, brake specific fuel consumption and brake thermal efficiency was calculated using the measured test data The emission parameters include carbon monoxide, particulate matter and the oxides of nitrogen. The tests have been carried out with different blends of B5 to B100 of biodiesel with diesel fuel. The results showed that the cetane number of sunflower biodiesel has dropped significantly as a result of high temperatures and negatively affected the performance and emissions of the diesel engine also the engine performance with the palm biodiesel blend B5 is closed to diesel fuel also, for B5 CO emission decreased from 53 to 70% while NOx emission decreased from 13 to 80% compared to diesel fuel.
