Opis:
The article presents possibilities of implementation gas, came by wood biomass gasification, to run on internal combustion engines powered normally by Diesel fuel. Carbonization, gasification and burning effects were introduced. Main processes occurring during biomass gasification were shown. Basic chemical reactions characteristic to each stage were named. The differences in composition of received gas according to sort of biomass, gasification medium and type of generator were mentioned. In article were depicted way of modus operandi and structures of typical generators along with its advantages and disadvantages. gas properties obtained by this method and its main parameters were presented. The advantages and disadvantages posed by the use of wood gas in internal combustion engines were described. Parameters of the gas that should be amended to allow the engine to be powered were listed. Also were shown ways of changing these parameters. Necessary engine modifications to be able to supply it with wood gas were presented. The article finishes with conclusions and risks resulting from the use of this technology and also possible impact on the environment.

Opis:
Due to the ending stocks of fossil fuels, as well as instability of the political situation in the world, especially in countries that are major crude oil suppliers, governments of countries poor in the resources are forced to seek alternative sources of energy. Currently, the most common fuel for admission of internal combustion engines is oil. As a result of the continuous increasement of fuels prices and legislation imposing decrease of toxic exhaust gasses emissions tends to expansion the power base of the automotive industry through the introduction of alternative fuels. One of them is fuels derived from renewable energy sources. These include gaseous fuels like biogas, hydrogen, and its mixtures. The presented paper includes description of Brown gas generator and verification of the desirability of enrichment in hydrogen and oxygen gaseous fuels used to supply internal combustion engines. The connection scheme of Brown gas generator for the engine is also presented. Division of alternative fuels used to power internal combustion engines, diagram of connection generator to the engine when the gas is feed to inlet manifold, Diagram ofpower supply system of gas generator, are also presented in the paper.

Opis:
Combustion simulation in SI engine fuelled with unconventional gaseous fuels becomes more necessary in last years. The reason is because the use of e.g. biogases from anaerobic digester process or gasification of biomass to produce "green energy". From the view of energy balance of small CHP units, the SI engine seems to be most efficient appliance as a part of this unit. Through 1D, simulation of in-cylinder pressure a fast prediction of engine performance is possible. In this case, the Mass Fraction Burn (MFB) function can be used. The MFB reflect the amount of fuel burned throughout the combustion process in an internal combustion engine. SI engine combustion simulation by using a Wiebe function to represent the MFB is very often used in a 1D-engine code that allow for fast calculations and a good accuracy of results. This paper deals with calculations of Wiebe function coefficients based on experimental data of four stroke naturally aspirated SI engine fuelled with natural gas and simulated producer gas. The Wiebe function parameters are determined over a range of fuel compositions and air excess ratio by fitting the Wiebe function curve to the experimentally obtained MFB data from a single-zone Heat Release Rate (HRR) analysis.
