Opis:
The aim of the work was to review selected methods of plasma nitriding, which according to the authors might he used in the thermo-chemical treatment of aircraft parts. The introduction explains the nitriding process and presents the requirements on the thermo-chemical treatment of aircraft parts. Three methods of plasma nitriding have been described: Direct Current Plasma Nitriding (DCPN), Active Screen Plasma Nitriding (ASPN) and Low Pressure Nitriding in AEGD (Arc Enhanced Glow Discharge) plasma. While describing DCPN plasma nitriding method, authors drew attention to known problems, which occur in this process such as edge effect or hollow cathode effect. The Keller's model, the Marchand's model and the Walkowicz's model of nitriding process, which can be found in the literature, were also presented in this work. Another purpose of this work was to present hypotheses about the transportation of nitrogen during Active Screen Plasma Nitriding process and to show that in this nitriding method, defects typical for Direct Current Plasma Nitriding do not occur. While describing Low Pressure Nitriding in AEGD plasma, authors also presented the model of nitriding mechanism in this process, which shows four nitrogen diffusion paths (physisorption, chemisorption, adsorption ofNj, ion implantation). Examples of layers obtained by applying described nitriding methods were presented. The measurement ofnitrided layers confirmed that it is possible to obtain a layer without E film on the surface.

Opis:
Overcoming of road impassibility, increase of vehicle passability are the issues that are always actual for the areas with insufficiently developed road network in remote regions of the North, the Far East, Siberia, and also the lack of roads in oil and gas production places and their transportation to gathering stations. This issue is also actual during rescue missions after natural disasters, emergency situations and technogeneous disasters. To solve this important issue domestic and foreign industries produced and produce different kinds of off-road vehicles and snow and swamp-going vehicles: caterpillar, ski-caterpillar, on low-pressure tires. The advantage of the latter is the discovery of new opportunities in transportation, ecological compatibility, improved productivity and passableness. It is important to mention that almost all vehicles on extra-low pressure tires can swim. The fact that they all possess hermetic frame contributes to it, what is more, this usage of extra-low pressure tires provides this opportunity. This opportunity to deliver goods by the vehicles with extra-low pressure tires (VELPT), having no restriction in exploitation in summer and winter in the conditions of Arctic weak tundra, increases the competitive power of these vehicles compared to caterpillar off-road vehicles. Moreover, their usage is much cheaper than delivery by helicopter. All these lead to the popularity of VELPT, the growth of the number of their types for various purposes and appearance of new producers of this type of off-road vehicles.

Opis:
The particles at the exhaust of two Port Fuel Injection Spark Ignition (PFI-SI) engines were characterised in terms of number size distribution and chemical properties. Optical techniques based on the Laser Induced Incandescence (LII) and on the Broadband Ultraviolet - Visible Extinction and Scattering Spectroscopy (BUVESS) were applied. The optical results were compared with those obtained by Electrical Low Pressure Impactor (ELPI). The aim of the work was the characterisation of the nanoparticles emitted by Port Fuel Injection Spark Ignition (PFI - SI) engines in terms of number size distribution and chemical-physical properties. Two PFI - SI engines were used for the experiments: a four-cylinder engine and a research optically accessible single cylinder engine. The experiments were performed at the exhaust of a multi-cylinder SI engine equipped with a three way catalyst (TWC) and in the combustion chamber and at the exhaust of a single-cylinder optical engine. High number concentrations of nanoparticles (D less than 50 nm) were detected. The presence of carbonaceous particles at the exhausts was due to the ignition of the fuel film deposits on the intake valves and on the cylinder walls. This was demonstrated by the optical measurements performed in the combustion chamber of the research engine. Different engine operating conditions were considered.
