Analysis of possible hybrid drive for tracked vehicle solutions and also concept vehicle project is presented in the paper. Study ofpresent tracked vehicle state-of-art shows that in case majority of currently designed and developed military tracked vehicles projects modifications hybrid propulsion is taken into account. Based on that, authors have decided to develop concept hybrid tracked vehicle study. Basic parameters of concept vehicle are described at the beginning: total vehicle mass up to 14 Mg, maximum speed over 60 km/h and also possibility of stealth operation at the low speed using electric energy stored in batteries. Then, analysis of hybrid electric drives configurations is presented. Three versions of hybrid electric propulsions are considered: two series hybrid drives and one parallel. Then final version is chosen for further development with discussion on justification of the choice description. dynamic model assumptions and modelling methods are described in next section. As a result of simulation, acceleration diagrams for chosen operation modes are shown. As the final stage of concept study, virtual 3D model was built. Virtual modelling methods are used to optimize transmission components layout in a concept tracked vehicle hull.

Opis:
The powertrain of an urban vehicle was subjected to detailed simulations. This study was conducted with the aim of getting to know the operating principle, verification of assumptions adopted during its design and determination of most effective control procedures to be applied with regard to its powertrain. However, the most important aspect involved the aspect of the power distribution between the engines, electrical machine and vehicle wheels in the particular operating modes of the powertrain. A study was conducted in the MATLAB/Simulink environment with the purpose of finding a configuration of an electrical machine coupling with a combustion engine that offers the greatest advantages in terms of the range of the speed ratio, demanded performance of the electrical machine and maximum power output. The simulations indicated that control of the speed ratio of the vehicle could be gained by application of an electrically controlled planetary gear. The range of the transmission ratio is relative to the ratio of the planetary gear, speed range of the combustion engine as well as electrical machine. The efficiency of the battery charging in the hybrid mode is mostly relative to the operating point of the engine. The optimization of the process of power generation by the electrical machine requires that the operating point of the engine be maintained at a range at which its high performance is guaranteed.

Opis:
One of the alternative powertrain systems of cars, commercial vehicles and mobile machines are hybrid drives with pneumatic motors for compressed air. This paper presents a mathematical model and the results of simulation calculations of piston pneumatic motor. Mathematical model was based on the fundamental principles of mechanics, thermodynamics and rights of airflow. For simulation model parameterization, prototype of such engine was built and installed on dedicated test stand. Performed experimental research allowed achieving values of coefficients and components characteristics used for model estimation. One of the important tasks of this study was to create the control system of the compressed-air supplied engine. For this purpose an appropriate pneumatic and electronic component were selected and also an algorithm was created which would facilitate changing of the engine settings in order to obtain the best performance. Using elaborated simulation model, series of calculation were performed for different parameters of pneumatic motor, like cylinders diameter and stroke, length of the crank, compressed air pressure and valves size. A lot of attention was devoted to determine the influence of control system settings, such as valves opening and closing in reaction to crankshaft position, on motor properties. When discussing the results of calculations considerable attention was paid to the power, torque and efficiency values. To illustrate performance of designed engine, simplified model of light vehicle was used to calculate possible to achieve acceleration, velocity and travel distance.

Opis:
The article discusses the role of the modern approach to the design of autonomous utility vehicles. The study has been exemplified by a currently designed multi-purpose hybrid engineer vehicle. The article covers the application of modern hybrid drive and the suspension allowing for the regulation of the tension wheel. The drive system used in the described vehicle is a serial type. In contrast to the conventional solutions used so far in a similar vehicle, this system eliminate heavy and difficult parts to produce (e.g., gears) which allows to significant reduction of a vehicle's weight. The suspension system is based on the classical concept - with a torsional shafts. A movable tension wheel is an innovative element, which has been used in this suspension system. When the wheel is in the lower position the area of pressure increased so the force exerted on the ground is less. This option is useful in difficult, muddy off-road conditions. The Volvo Company wants to apply similar capabilities in their prototype diggers. In the article, the importance of the external appearance of the vehicle has been considered as well. A removable cab allows the remote control of the vehicle at any time and the same has been provided as an example of a modern solution concerning the external appearance of the vehicle.

Opis:
The structures of modern traction vehicles are based on new generation devices. Technical progress within the field of power transmission concerns such elements as sources of power supply, electric devices and energy electronic solutions in power transmission systems. The prototypes of traction vehicles being currently drawn up are hybrid vehicles using different kinds of sources of power supply ofpower transmission systems, the most important of which are combustion engines, contact systems, supercapacitors (ultracapacitors), accumulators and fuel cells. Main engines are usually electric machines. In energy electronic starting systems it is permissible to use all kinds of main electric engines, for example, direct-current motors (inline engines, commutator motors with permanent magnets or non-commutator motors) or three-phase motors of alternating current (induction and synchronous). This means a complete change of rules in energy managing in a vehicle. Sources of energy can have the function of basic power supply (contact system, combustion engine or combustion cell) or the function of power supply support (supercapacitors, accumulators or fuel cell). New functions of drive operation will be available, namely, leveling of basic power supply load, recuperation of braking energy of the whole train set, driving at the temporary disconnection of basic power supply (short-term application of accumulator as basic power supply). Each of the above functions can contribute to the improvement of watt-hour efficiency of the system or to prolonging the range of driving. Therefore, it is necessary to undertake research on new generation power transmission systems. Research tasks focus on measurement of state variables of a drive, analyses of traction signals, modeling of drive operation in the conditions of driving cycle realization, verification of a model, drawing up a strategy of energy management in order to achieve the best watt-hour efficiency and the range of driving. In the article presented, sample results of researches on applications of hybrid power transmission systems conducted in various national research centers will be demonstrated. They concern both theoretical research (model simulation) and prototype research. The conception will be presented of a laboratory station for conducting research on modern sources of power supply and drives, which is currently being built at the Faculty of Transport of Warsaw Polytechnic at the Division of Exploitation of Tracking Systems and Electric Equipment in Transport.

Opis:
In the article, a study of conversion of energy in a hybrid (electro-hydrostatic) drive of a utility van intended for city traffic is described. In this hybrid drive, the electric drive is periodically accompanied by hydrostatic drive, especially during acceleration and regenerative braking of the vehicle. We present a mathematical model of the hybrid drive as a set of dynamics and regulation equations of the van traveling at a given speed. On this basis, we construct a computer program, which we use to simulate the processes of energy conversion in electro-hydrostatic hybrid drive. The main goal of the numerical simulation is to assess the possibility of reducing energy intensity of the electric drive through such a support of the hydrostatic drive. Our results indicate that it is possible to significantly increase the efficiency of energy conversion in the electric drive by support of the hydrostatic drive. In the article, chosen results of simulation studies for multiple starting and braking the car are given, and they show a 30% decrease for energy drawn by the hybrid drive, compared to solely electric drive.

The article presents construction concept of a tractor with hybrid, diesel-hydraulic and diesel-electric drive meant for the use in livestock holdings. The tractor is enabled to cover short distances with the combustion engine switched off. This solution uses independent engines to propel front and rear axles. This article presents a computer model and simulation results for the project of a hybrid, diesel-electric tractor based on a benchmark machine Fendt 516. Aside from the ability to drive with diesel engine switched off, the proposed solution has additional positive features allowing smooth transition of relation of peripheral speed of the front and rear wheels. It enables to obtain higher tractive powers for various conditions in a broader range than for a traditional solution (with propelling both axles with one engine through different transmission systems and specific difference of peripheral speed of the wheels). The computer model was built on the basis of the benchmark machine.

Opis:
In this article, results of experimental studies concerning the relief of a city car electric drive by means of hydrostatic drive support are presented. Experimental studies were performed using a laboratory station built for this particular purpose. Studies of basic properties of elements of hydraulic system and resistances in the mechanical system were performed. The results of experimental studies of a chosen sub-assembly of hydrostatic drive (i.e. hydro-pneumatic battery) are given. The resistances within mechanical system (flywheel) were determined. In the considered hybrid drive, electric drive is cyclically supported by hydrostatic drive during acceleration or regenerative braking of the vehicle. The results of experimental studies presented in this article were obtained on a designed and built laboratory station representing a model of a lightweight delivery van for city traffic and equipped with the studied hybrid drive. The obtained results suggest that there is a possibility considerably to increase the effectiveness of energy conversion in the electric drive of the vehicle by means of hydrostatic support. By applying the hydrostatic support in the electric drive, the load on the electric battery decreased, which positively influences the length of operation time.
