In the article were presented influence of technological parameters of burnishing process on the degree of hardness and reduction roughness. Burnishing process carried out for stainless steels X2CrNiMo17-12-2. The experimental research were obtained in the surface layer increase in hardness and the material ratio curve a convex shaped, which, taking into account the load capacity of the surface will be directly affected by its resistance to wear and corrosion. The experimental research by application of the burnishing rolling – pressuring process (BRP) method were made in the Laboratory of Production Engineering at the Department of Marine Maintenance at the Faculty of Marine Engineering at the Gdynia Maritime University. After the studies it was found that the hardness of the surface layer and the roughness of the shaft necks an important influenced by technological parameters of processing (burnishing speed, feed and depth of burnishing). The objective of applying burnishing process may be, for example, the need to increase surface smoothness and dimensional accuracy of part. To achieve the objectives strengthen and smooth of burnishing stainless steel should be used the one pass burnisher roller and feed fn = 0.2 mm/rev and disk burnishing tool feed an = 1.0 mm and burnishing speed vn = 70 m/min.

Products used in the construction of machines and shipbuilding as well as petrochemical industry, such as shafts, bars, pipes and the like from two-phase stainless steel are currently very popular. It is required that they meet certain quality criteria. They must be characterized by suitable properties of the surface layer to meet the requirements of potential buyers. In the article impact of processing parameters on the degree of relative strain hardening and index of surface roughness reduction were presented. The burnishing process was carried out for two-phase stainless steel. Burnishing process of the shafts neck was performed using burnisher roller. The experimental research were obtained in the surface layer increase in hardness and the material ratio curve a convex shaped, which, taking into account the load capacity of the surface will be directly affected by its resistance to wear and corrosion. The experimental research by application of the burnishing process was made in the Laboratory of Production Engineering. The paper presents choice results of experimental testing of burnishing process by methods BRP – burnishing rolling – pressuring. The burnishing process is a technology of surface plastic forming of machine parts. The plastic deformations are called out by arrangement of strengths causing the superficial crossing the value of tension pressure of the materials. They set the on cold causing except moving the unevenness also the cold work in top layer of workpiece. Studies were conducted for burnishing process of the external cylindrical surfaces. Burnishing carried out for stainless steels. Burnishing technology was proposed using burnished roller (BR-01) in order to give adequate operational characteristics of the shafts neck centrifugal pumps. An important issue to resolve in the article of the research was to obtain appropriate technological quality, and because of the economic aspect of the production and regeneration of machine parts, burnishing applied in exchange for abrasive processing. In experimental studies were obtained in the surface layer increase in hardness and the Abbott-Firestone curve a convex shaped, which given load capacity of the surface will be directly affected by its resistance to wear and corrosion. The burnishing rolling – pressuring process (BRP) were decreased in surface roughness of the top outer cylindrical layer of stainless steel, which can be applied to the centrifugal pump shafts ship.

The paper presents the research results of relationship between surface roughness reduction index KRa and three input parameters: burnishing speed Vn, feed fn and burnishing force Fn., and all combinations of levels of yields N measured for 48 points of experiment. The experiment was repeated 3 times. In order to select the model describing the results of tests, the stepping approximation analysis was performed. It relayed at incorporated into the model in following steps approximation elements function, giving the biggest decrease of the sum of squared deviations. The first approximation was based on the ternary monomial of the powers from 0 to 3 for each input value. This approximation aim was to show, that the index of surface roughness reduction does not depend on the burnishing speed in the made in the area of research. The reduced input parameters to two, i.e. fn and Fn. The plan of the experiment was brought to N = 12 and M = 12. The best approximation of test results obtained in the case of Laurent polynomial with stepping selection of elements. The biggest contribution to the decrease in the sum of squared deviations was element −1 ∙ 3 , and then fn 2. The article shows that in the range fn {0.6:1.2} there was not information on the successful model and the lack of influence of f and Fn on the results of the experiment. It is postulated to retry the experiment for the feed f <0.6.

The aim of the research is to test the fuel additives which decrease dimensions of atomised fuel drops, by applying changes to the specific parameters which impact the atomisation process. Those parameters include density, surface tension, viscosity and the viscosity index. Dimensions of drops of biofuels are much bigger compared to hydrocarbon fuels. By modifying the physical and chemical parameters of biofuels, dimensions of drops in an atomised fuel stream should become smaller. Those dimensions play a major role for the level of emissions of hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide, as well as mainly nitrogen oxides and particulates. The research on emissions of toxic components of fuel is relatively advanced today in the field of piston combustion engines, especially for use in car vehicles. However, the dynamic development of the air transport brings more pressure on the issue of toxic emissions in the case of aircraft engines. The level of toxic emissions from aircraft engines may be from ten up to even several thousand times greater than the level of emissions from piston engines. The issue of how biofuel additives can affect the process of fuel atomisation and thus enable the control over the atomisation to obtain the smallest possible drops leading to reduced nitrogen oxides emissions is a new and original issue. The reduced nitrogen oxides emissions in the case of biofuels is of utmost significance because, according to latest knowledge, those levels are increasing.

The article attempts to determine the influence of selected types of the heat treatment on the strength properties of the AW-7020 alloy used in the shipbuilding industry. The text presents information on the applied types of heat treatment. There are presented the results of the static tensile test of the material after its earlier hyperquenching and aging (natural and artificial) as well as comparison to the test results of the alloy without heat treatment. To illustrate the nature of the supersaturation and aging process, a test was carried out for a series of samples in a transitional state. During the tests for all the samples were determined: elongation at rupture and reduction of area at fracture, strength limit Rm and proof stress Re0.2. The results of the tests showed that the choice of the type of aging after saturation has significant importance for the strength properties of the AW-7020 alloy. It has been shown that it is possible to significantly accelerate the achievement of higher strength properties of the tested alloy, replacing the natural aging of the material with artificial aging.
