Opis:
Arylsulphatase and phosphatase may give some indication of the soil potential to perform specific biochemical reactions, and are also important contributors to soil fertility. Soil was collected from a field experiment set up at the Agricultural Experiment Station at Grabów by the Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation (IUNG) in Puławy. Soils samples from fields cropped with spring barley and winter wheat were collected in October 2008. The experiment involved only mineral fertilisation: increasing doses of ammonium nitrate (N0-0 kg N ha–1 – 150 kg N ha–1 for spring barley and N0-0 kg N ha–1 to 200 kg N ha–1 for winter wheat) and fertilisation with P – 30.5 kg P . ha-1, K – 116.2 kg K . ha-1, Ca - 143 kg Ca. ha-1, Mg – 42.2 kg Mg . ha-1 and 30 kg S . ha-1. Sulphate sulphur was determined with the Bardsley-Lancaster method, while available phosphorus as well as the activity of arylsulphatase, acid phosphatase and alkaline phosphatase were assayed according to Tabatabai and Bremner. An effect of fertilisation with macronutrients and with increasing doses of nitrogen on the content of sulphates in soil was found in the fields cropped with either test plant. The highest content of sulphates was assayed in the soil from the treatments fertilised with macronutrients, except for Ca in soil under spring barley and Mg - under wheat. In the soil sampled under the test plants untreated with nitrogen, the content of available phosphorus was the highest. Increasing nitrogen doses significantly decreased the content of PE-R and sulphates. The Polish Norm classifies it as soils of a medium content of phosphorus. It was demonstrated that the soil content of sulphates available to plants is affected by the presence of ions derived from fertilisation with Ca, Mg and K. This is most probably due to the sorption of sulphates and their unavailability in the soil solution.

Opis:
The aim of this research was to determine the effect of mineral fertilisation on the activity of arylsulphatase (EC 3.1.6.1.) and the content of total sulphur and its fraction in soil under winter wheat. The soil was collected from a field experiment set up at the Agricultural Experimental Station in Grabów nad Wis31 by the Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation (IUNG) in Pu3awy. The sampling was carried out twice during the vegetative period of maize in 2008. The experiment involved exclusive mineral fertilisation composed of increasing rates of ammonium nitrate (0, 50, 100, 150, 200 kg N ha ?1 ), and fertilisation with P ? 80 kg P 2 O 5 ha ?1 , K ? 140 kg K 2 O ha ?1 , Ca ? 200 kg CaO ha ?1 , Mg ? 70 kg MgO ha ?1 and S in fertilisation forms with other elements. The activity of arylsulphatase was determined following the Tabatabai and Bremner method, and sulphate sulphur was assayed compliant with the Bardsley?Lancaster method. The fertilisation with ammonium nitrate determined the content of total sulphur and its fraction as well as the activity of arylsulphatase in Luvisol. The optimum nitrogen rate leading to the highest arylsulphatase activity in soil was the rate of 100 kg N ha ?1 . The analysed Luvisol demonstrated low sulphur abundance and should be enriched with this nutrient to ensure that the plants would produce yields adequate in terms of both quality and quantity.

Opis:
The aim of the paper was to determine changes in the content of total phosphorus and its selected forms in soil under maize treated with mineral fertilization. The activity ofenzymes participating in transformations of this bioelement was also investigated. In October 2008, soil was sampled from a field experiment set up at the Agricultural Experimental Station in Grabów nad Wis31, conducted by the IUNG Institute in Pu3awy. The experiment involved the application of nitrogen in the form of ammonium nitrate at rates of 0, 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 kg N ha ?1 and concomitant P, K, Mg, Ca and S fertilization. The following determinations were made on the soil samples: the content of total phosphorus, phosphorus in organic compounds and available phosphorus as well as the activity of alkaline and acid phosphatases. The analysis of variance showed a signifi- cant effect of the experimental factors on changes in the content of total phosphorus and its selected f orms. The content of available phosphorus was 55.85 mg P E-R kg ?1 , which classified the soil to class III, that is with a moderate content of this nutrient. The lack of phosphorus fertilization (KMgCaS variant) as well as the use of high nitrogen rates changed the soil pho- sphorus abundance class from average to low. The soil content of phosphorus in organic compounds was about 25% of the total phosphorus content, but when nitrogen fertilization had been applied at the rates above 100 kg N ha ?1 , P org decreased to about 15%. The activity of phosphomonoesterases was the highest in soil from the treatments not fertilized with phosphorus (KMgCaS). A close dependence was found between the activity of acid phosphatase and the total phosphorus content or the content of its examined forms. The value of the coefficient of correlation between the AcP activity and the P E-R content in soil was r =-0.83, p <0.05.
