Opis:
The studies of micromycetes fungi and physicochemical properties were carried out on the soils of buffer zones of a small watercourse in the agricultural landscape of north-eastern Poland. One of the zones was under a tree which was adjacent to the arable soil, the other one was under a turf located near the grassland. It turned out that the character of vegetation and the way the land was used had an influence on the analyzed soil parameters. Soil under trees was characterized by more diversified structures of fungi communities, it also produced more carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide than soil under turf. This allows us to state that tree-lined buffer zones are more effective in preventing surface water pollution by biogenic compounds displaced from agricultural land compared to the buffer zone under the grassing.

A buffer zone is a belt of shelter or permanent grassland separating the agricultural land from watercourses and water reservoirs. According to the Code of Good Agricultural Practices, they constitute a landscape element that can limit the migration of biogenic substances. Increasing attention is paid to the fact that these barriers are effective during the growing season. However, in the autumn-winter and early-spring half-year, they can be a source of nitrogen compounds leached from the catchment to the surface water. In connection with this, research was undertaken to assess the content of nitrogen compounds in the soil of the zone at the channel and water of the watercourse in a small agricultural catchment. The processes occurring in the buffer zones leading to the release of biogenic compounds do not only concern leaching them to surface and groundwater; therefore, the amount of nitrous oxide emissions, which is the result of the denitrification process occurring in the soil, was examined. On the basis of the obtained results, it was found that an increased content of nitrogen compounds in the soil of buffer zones may have an impact on the elevated emission of N2O and a raised content of these substances in surface water.

In this article distribution of monthly phosphorus loads flowing out of two agricultural catchments which are located in different physiographic conditions of Lower Silesia was analysed. Loads of phosphorus runoff from the catchment located in the piedmont part of Lower Silesia in each month rarely exceed 0.10 kg P · ha-1. The size of annual load is determined by loads obtained in two months of early spring. Much lower loads obtained for lowland catchment, located near Wroclaw. Values calculated for each month rarely exceed the value of 0.01 kg P · ha-1. Culmination of loads bringing away is a bit more extended in a time compared to the catchment located on Sudety Mts. Foreland. Much higher loads are observed during the period from January to April – this period has a major impact on the size of phosphorus load that flows out from this catchment during whole hydrological year. The obtained results clearly indicate that the threat of watercourses and water reservoirs supply in phosphorus compounds from agricultural land is periodic and it is particularly high during early spring. Phosphorus load flowing out from the analyzed catchments is very diverse. From facility located on Sudety Foothill in hydrological year, during research period, flowed away average 0.81 kg P · ha-1. Significantly lower values were obtained for second facility and it was average 0.15 kg P ha-1 during a year. The size of load discharged during a year is largely determined by amount of phosphorus load flowing out during winter half of the year (from XI to IV). In case of foothill catchment in this period flowed out average 0.56 kg P · ha-1, which presents 69% of annual load and in lowland catchment this percentage was even slightly higher and was 73%.

Opis:
Determining the soil water content (SWC) in a soil profile is very important task for agriculture and also for a wider ecological context. The spatial and temporal variability of SWC is a elementary issue for agricultural practice, irrigation management, or landscape management globally. Various methods are used for obtaining the SWC data. Every method has some advantages and also disadvantages. Many of them are focused only on one dimension but modern precise agriculture needs the information about SWC in spatial scale. This study is focused on the spatial scale analysis of SWC in the Nitra river catchment for years 2013 and 2014. The HYDRUS 1D hydrological model and GIS tools were used for the creation maps of SWC. Combination of the measured and simulated data was used for the creation of the unique spatial maps of soil moisture in 0–30 and 30–60 cm soil horizons. Validation of our method shows trustworthy results. Soil water storage and fulfillment of maximum soil water storage were analysed with using the created maps.
