We study the structural diffusion coefficient of protons in a chain-like system by the means of KMC simulations. To perform specific calculations, we adopted parameter values in our model that correspond to the benzimidazole crystal. As we have shown, the structural diffusion follows the Arrhenius-like thermal dependence with an effective activation energy of 2.01 eV.

The main aim of this paper is a new formula of tensor interpolation by the polynomial of two variables. The formulas for interpolating polynomial coefficients are obtained using the Kronecker tensor product of matrices. The mathematical model for the diffusion process is presented. This paper is focused on determining the optimal parameters for this process by polynomial tensor interpolation of the obtained research results.

In this investigation, the analogy between thermal and mass diffusive effects of a free convective flow in a rectangular enclosure is emphasized. The upwind finite volume method is used to discretize the governing equations of the continuity, momentum, energy and mass transfer. The novelty in this exploration is to appropriately modify the well-known Semi-Implicit Method for Pressure-Linked Equations (SIMPLE) algorithm so that it suits to the present problem and thereby, the new flow variables such as the temperature and the concentration are computed. An empirical correlation for the average Sherwood number (Sh) that does not exist in literature is suggested in this work. The average Sherwood numbers for distinct fluids (gases and liquids) are calculated, and mass diffusion effects within the horizontal rectangle are analyzed. The average Nusselt numbers (Nu) are calculated for distinct fluids such as liquids (Pr ≫1), liquid metals (Pr≪1) and gases (Pr < 1) for different Rayleigh numbers in the range of 3x105 ≤ RaL ≤ 7x10 9 from relevant empirical correlations existing in the literature. Accordingly, the thermal diffusion effects within the horizontal rectangle are analyzed.

In fractional calculus, the fractional differential equation is physically and theoretically important. In this article an efficient numerical process has been developed. Numerical solutions of the time fractional fourth order reaction diffusion equation in the sense of Caputo derivative is obtained by using the implicit method, which is a finite difference method and is developed by increasing the number of iterations. The advantage of the implicit difference scheme is unconditionally stable. The stability analysis and convergency have been proven. A numerical example has been presented, and the validity of the method is supported by tables and graphics.

In this study numerical solutions for magnetohydrodynamic transfer, thermal and mass instability, free convection flow through the plate before Casson fluid, heat dissipation, thermal radiation, heat sink, chemical reaction, tilt angle, and saturated porous medium were described. The effectiveness of this study is to analyze the effect of heat diffusion, Casson fluid, the angle of interest on the flow phenomenon of Cu-nanoparticles in the presence of thermal radiation, heat source/heat sink, destructive reaction, heat transfer and mass transfer in a simple way. The finite difference method was used to solve the governing equations which are the added partial differential equations. The effects of different material parameters on velocity, temperature and concentration profiles are explained using graphs and tables. The results are compared with previously published papers and a very good agreement is found. In the boundary layer region, fluid velocity decreases with the increasing values of magnetic field parameter, heat source/sink, Casson fluid, angle of inclination and thermal radiation parameter for Cu-nanoparticles. Also it is noticed that the solutal boundary layer thickness decreases with an increase in the chemical reaction parameter. It is because chemical molecular diffusivity reduces for higher values of Kr.

In this paper we present a numerical method to solve a one-dimensional, one-phase extended Stefan problem with fractional time derivative described in the Caputo sense. The proposed method is based on applying a similarity variable for the anomalous-diffusion equation and the finite difference method. In the final part, examples of numerical results are discussed.

Thermal processes occuring in the solid bodies are, as a rule, described by the well-known Fourier equation (or the system of these equations) supplemented by the appropriate boundary and initial conditions. Such a mathematical model is sufficiently exact to describe the heat transfer processes in the macro scale for the typical materials. It turned out that the energy equation based on the Fourier law has the limitations and it should not be used in the case of the microscale heat transfer and also in the case of materials with a special inner structure (e.g. biological tissue). The better approximation of the real thermal processes assure the modifications of the energy equation, in particular the models in which the so-called lag times are introduced. The article presented is devoted to the numerical aspects of solving these types of equations (in the scope of the microscale heat transfer). The results published by the other authors can be found in the references posted in the works cited below.

The numerical analysis of thermal damage process proceeding in biological tissue during laser irradiation is presented. Heat transfer in the tissue is assumed to be transient and two-dimensional. The internal heat source resulting from the laser irradiation based on the solution of the diffusion equation is taken into account. The tissue is regarded as a homogeneous domain with perfusion coefficient and effective scattering coefficient treated as dependent on tissue injury. At the stage of numerical realization, the boundary element method and the finite difference method have been used. In the final part of the paper the results of computations are shown.
