Opis:
In this paper there is presented and discussed a general analysis method for noise characterization of noisy multiport differential networks. It is based on mixed mode, differential and common mode, noise waves representation of noise, generalized mixed-mode scattering parameters and generalized mixed-mode noise wave correlation parameters for the network. There are derived analytical relation between the noise figure for a given output port and the noise matrix and the scattering parameters of the network, as well as the correlations between the input port noise waves. The signal to noise ratio degradation factor is derived and discussed, too. Presented results can be implemented directly in a CAD software noise analysis of differential microwave multiport networks with differential as well as with conventional single ended ports.

The paper presents complete analysis of differential amplifier noise figure single-ended measurement setup. The analysis is based on scattering matrix representation for the network and wave representation for noise. As a result, there are presented equations allowing the differential amplifier gain and noise figure to be de-embedded with single-ended measurements. De-embedding equations are given for the balanced amplifier and for the fully differential amplifier.

Noise radar is a very promising technology offering advantages which cannot be achieved in classical radar systems. Unfortunately, it has also several disadvantages. One of the most significant is the masking effect, where strong objects raise the noise floor preventing detection of weak ones and significantly affecting dynamic range. In this article method of designing waveform with reduced noise floor is presented.

The paper discusses the characteristics of spatial electromagnetic noise generators, as well as the formation of a broadband noise signal. A number of well-known methods for assessing the quality of masking noise interference and the approaches used in them have been described. Approaches to the measurement of masking noise were also determined in assessing their quality. In conclusion, additional methods are proposed for assessing the quality of masking noises, such as searching for correlation of noise in different frequency sub-bands and using statistical and (or) graphical methods (tests) for randomness.

Recently Ka-band Ground Based Noise Waveform SAR has been developed [1] which may be applied for the above monitoring. The paper is devoted to investigation of stability of Noise Waveform SAR. Monitoring of a simple construction has been carried out. The related measurements enabled estimating the accuracy of differential phase measurements using the above Ka-band Noise Waveform SAR. This article presents the results of the research of noiseimmunity of wireless communication systems using signals that are formed on the basis of eight-position quadrature-amplitude modulation (8-QAM) and eight-position amplitude modulation of many components (8-AMMC). The research was conducted using simulation of a wireless communication system, built using a detector, implemented on the basis of a phase locked loop. The influence of phase locked loop parameters on the detection quality of these signals in the condition of the interference in the communication channel was researched, and a comparative analysis of the noise immunity of wireless communication systems using these signals was carried out.

The noise signal used in the experiment is similar to a signal used in many transmission systems such as DVB-T that can be employed in passive bistatic radars. The paper presents the system setup, details of the measurement campaign, signal processing and the results of SAR imaging.

Opis:
In this paper a new approach of thermal noise analysis of electronic oscillators is presented. Although nonlinear electronic oscillators are one of the most essential subcircuits in electronic systems typical design concepts for these oscillators are based on ideas of linear circuits. Because the functionality of oscillators depends on nonlinearities, advanced design methods are developed where nonlinearities are an integral part. Since low voltage oscillator concepts have to be developed in modern IC technologies there is a need to include at least thermal noise aspects into the design flow. For this reason we developed new physical descriptions of thermal noise in electronic oscillators where we use ideas from nonequilibrium statistical mechanics as well as the Langevin approach. We illustrate our concepts by some examples.

Opis:
Conventional digital signal processing scheme in noise radars has certain limitations related to combination of high resolution and high dynamic range. The bandwidth of radar signal defines range resolution of any radar: the wider the spectrum the better the resolution. In noise radar with conventional processing the sounding and reference signals are to be digitized at intermediate frequency band and to be processed digitally. The power spectrum bandwidth of noise signal which can be digitized with ADC depends on its sampling rate. In currently available ADCs the faster is sampling rate the smaller is its depth (number of bits). Depth of the ADC determines relation between the smallest and highest observable signals and thus limits its dynamic range. Actually this is the main bottleneck of high resolution Noise Radars: conventional processing does not enable getting high range resolution and high dynamic range at the same time. In the paper we discuss ways to go around this drawback by changing signal processing ideology in noise radar. We present results of our consideration and design of two types of high resolution Noise Radar which uses slow ADCs: noise radar with digital generation of sounding signal and analog evaluation of cross-correlation and stepped frequency noise radar. We describe main ideas of these radar schemes and results of experimental tests of the approaches.

The Track-Before-Detect (TBD) filter banks is proposed for the processing of noise object that are additive to the background noise. Spatio-Temporal TBD algorithm uses the preprocessing of measurement. The modified moving standard deviation filter is applied. The correction of the results for the selection of the highest possible filter banks window is proposed. Position and velocity errors are evaluated numerically for two smoothing coefficients. Monte Carlo test shows that all filter banks allow the tracking if the standard deviation of the background is below 1.3.

The continuous real-time monitoring of diverse physical parameters using biosignals like ECG and EEG requires the biomedical sensors. Such sensor consists of analog front-end unit for which low noise and low power Operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) is essential. In this paper, the novel chopper-stabilized bio-potential amplifier is proposed. The chopper stabilization technique is used to reduce the offset and flicker noise. Further, the OTA is likewise comprised of a method to enhance the input impedance without consuming more power. Also, the ripple reduction technique is used at the output branch of the OTA. The designed amplifier consumes 5.5 µW power with the mid-band gain of 40dB. The pass-band for the designed amplifier is 0.1Hz to 1KHz. The input impedance is likewise boosted with the proposed method. The noise is 42 nV/√ Hz with CMRR of 82 dB. All simulations are carried out in 180nm parameters.

Opis:
This paper introduces an improved spectral subtraction based algorithm for real-time noise cancellation, applied to gunshot acoustical signals. The derivation is based on the fact that, in practice, relatively long periods without gunshot signals occur and the background noise can be modeled as being short-time stationary and uncorrelated to the impulsive gunshot signals. Moreover, gunshot signals, in general, have a spiky autocorrelation while typical vehicle noise, or related, is periodic and exhibits a wider autocorrelation. The Spectral Suppression algorithm is applied using the pre-filtering approach, as opposed to post-filtering which requires a priori knowledge of the direction of arrival of the signals of interest, namely, the Muzzle blast and the Shockwave. The results presented in this work are based on a dataset generated by combining signals from real gunshots and real vehicle noise.
