Opis:
The through-thickness crack or surface crack in PE100 pipes subjected to internal pressure represents a serious risk to the structural integrity of HDPE pipes, which has attracted wide attention in modern industry. Although experimental research offers reliable predictions of surface crack influence on pipes, the relatively high cost hinders its application. The numerical simulation, as a cost-effective alternative, has been widely applied to assess stress displacement and strain to the entire pipe structure. This is the initial approach adopted in recent decades. This article provides simulations tests of an uncracked pipe and cracked PE100 pipe under different internal pressure values, with varying each time the dimensions of the crack with 1 mm rate for minor and major radius and 0.5mm rates for the largest contour radius, using ANSYS MECHANICAL STRUCTURAL STATIC for simulation.

In this paper a numerical study of natural convection of stationary laminar heat transfers in a horizontal ring between a heated square inner cylinder and a cold elliptical outer cylinder is presented. A Cu-water nanofluid flows through this annular space. Different values of the Rayleigh number and volume fraction of nanoparticles are studied. The system of equations governing the problem was solved numerically by the fluent calculation code based on the finite volume method and on the Boussinesq approximation. The interior and exterior surfaces are kept at constant temperature. The study is carried out for Rayleigh numbers ranging from 310 to 510. We have studied the effects of different Rayleigh numbers and volume fraction of nanoparticles on natural convection. The results are presented as isotherms, isocurrents, and local and mean Nusselt numbers. The aim of this study is to study the influence of the thermal Rayleigh number and volume fraction of nanoparticles on the heat transfer rate.

Opis:
A complete three-dimensional and single phase model for proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells was used to investigate the effect of using different channels geometry on the performances, current density and gas concentration. The proposed model was a full cell model, which includes all the parts of the PEM fuel cell, flow channels, gas diffusion electrodes, catalyst layers and the membrane. Coupled transport and electrochemical kinetics equations were solved in a single domain; therefore no interfacial boundary condition was required at the internal boundaries between cell components. This computational fluid dynamics code was employed as the direct problem solver, which was used to simulate the three-dimensional mass, momentum, energy and species transport phenomena as well as the electron- and proton-transfer process taking place in a PEMFC. The results showed that the predicted polarization curves by using this model were in good agreement with the experimental results and a high performance was observed by using circle geometry for the channels of anode and cathode sides. Also, the results showed that the performance of the fuel cell improved when a rectangular channel was used.

This paper deals with numerical investigation of a natural convective flow in a horizontal annular space between a heated square inner cylinder and a cold elliptical outer cylinder with a Newtonian fluid. Uniform temperatures are imposed along walls of the enclosure. The governing equations of the problem were solved numerically by the commercial code Fluent, based on the finite volume method and the Boussinesq approximation. The effects of Geometry Ratio GR and Rayleigh numbers on fluid flow and heat transfer performance are investigated. The Rayleigh number is varied from 103 to 106. Throughout the study the relevant results are presented in terms of isotherms, and streamlines. From the results, we found that the increase in the Geometry Ratio B leads to an increase of the heat transfer coefficient. The heat transfer rate in the annulus is translated in terms of the average Nusselt numbers along the enclosure's sides. Tecplot 7 program was used to plot the curves which cleared these relations and isotherms and streamlines which illustrate the behavior of air through the channel and its variation with other parameters. The results for the streamlines, isotherms, local and average Nusselt numbers average Nusselt numbers are compared with previous works and show good agreement.

In this article, a time fractional-order theory of thermoelasticity is applied to an isotropic homogeneous elliptical disk. The lower and upper surfaces of the disk are maintained at zero temperature, whereas the sectional heat supply is applied on the outer curved surface. Thermal deflection and associated thermal stresses are obtained in terms of Mathieu function of the first kind of order 2n. Numerical evaluation is carried out for the temperature distribution, Thermal deflection and thermal stresses and results of the resulting quantities are depicted graphically.
