Opis:
The purpose of this paper is to study the two dimensional deformation due to an internal heat source in a thermoelastic microelongated solid. A mechanical force is applied along an overlaying elastic layer of thickness h. The normal mode analysis has been applied to obtain the exact expressions for the displacement component, force stress, temperature distribution and microelongation. The effect of the internal heat source on the displacement component, force stress, temperature distribution and microelongation has been depicted graphically for Green-Lindsay (GL) theory of thermoelasticity.

In this paper, an investigation is made to analyze the effects of radiation on an MHD boundary layer flow and heat transfer over a nonlinear stretching surface with variable wall temperature and non-uniform heat source/sink. A suitable similarity transformation is used to transform the governing nonlinear partial differential equations into a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations by using the Nachtsheim Swigert shooting iteration technique together with the fourth order Runge Kutta method. The effects of various physical parameters over a dimensionless velocity and dimensionless temperature are presented graphically. The numerical results for the skin friction co-efficient and non-dimensional rate of heat transfer are presented and discussed for several sets of values of the parameters. Comparisons of numerical results are made with the earlier published results under limiting cases.

In the present study a mathematical model for the hydro-magnetic non-Newtonian blood flow in the non-Darcy porous medium with a heat source and Joule effect is proposed. A uniform magnetic field acta perpendicular to the porous surface. The governing non-linear partial differential equations have been solved numerically by applying the explicit finite difference Method (FDM). The effects of various parameters such as the Reynolds number, hydro-magnetic parameter, Forchheimer parameter, Darcian parameter, Prandtl number, Eckert number, heat source parameter, Schmidt number on the velocity, temperature and concentration have been examined with the help of graphs. The present study finds its applications in surgical operations, industrial material processing and various heat transfer operations.

This computational work explores the heat and mass transfer of copper water nanofluid flowing along an inclined plate with varying surface temperature and concentration in the presence of a magnetic field and radiation through a permeable medium. The dimensionless governing equations are solved numerically using an efficient finite-difference technique, which is fast convergent and unconditionally stable. The findings are reviewed and illustrated through graphs for pertinent parameters.

This article deals with a 2-D problem of quasi-static deformation of a multilayered thermoelastic medium due tovsurface loads and heat source. The propagator matrix is obtained for the multilayered formalism of thermoelastic layers. Analytical solutions, in terms of the displacements, stresses, heat flux and temperature function, are obtained for normal strip and line loads, shear strip and line loads and strip and line heat sources. Numerical computation of the obtained analytical expressions is also done. The effects of layering have been studied. For the verification of the results, results of earlier studies have been obtained as particular cases of the present study.

Opis:
The impact of heat and mass transfer effects on an MHD flow past an inclined porous plate in the presence of a chemical reaction is investigated in this study. An effort has been made to explain the Soret effect and the influence of an angle of inclination on the flow field, in the presence of the heat source, chemical reaction and thermal radiation. The momentum, energy and concentration equations are derived as coupled second order partial differential equations. The model is non-dimensionalized and shown to be controlled by a number of dimensionless parameters. The resulting dimensionless partial differential equations can be solved by using a closed analytical method. Numerical results for pertaining parameters, such as the Soret number (Sr), Grashof number (Gr) for heat and mass transfer, the Schmidt number (Sc), Prandtl number (Pr), chemical reaction parameter (Kr), permeability parameter (K), magnetic parameter (M), skin friction (τ), Nusselt number (Nu) and Sherwood number (Sh) on the velocity, temperature and concentration profiles are presented graphically and discussed qualitatively.

A boundary layer flow of an electrically conducting viscous fluid past a converging channel in the presence of thermophoresis, heat source, chemical reaction, viscous dissipation and simultaneous heat and mass transfer characteristics is studied in the paper. An external magnetic field of uniform strength is applied transversely to the channel. The similarity solution has been used to transform the partial differential equations that represent the problem into a boundary value problem of coupled ordinary differential equations, which in turn are solved numerically using MATLAB’s built in solver bvp4c. Numerical computations are carried out to solve the problem and graphical illustrations are made to get the physical insight of the same. The convergent channel flow problem of an incompressible electrically conducting viscous fluid in the presence of a magnetic field has a wide range of applicability in different areas of engineering, specially in industrial metal casting and control of molten metal flow.

Opis:
A fluid flow and heat transfer analysis of an electrically conducting non-Newtonian power law fluid flowing over a non-linear stretching surface in the presence of a transverse magnetic field taking into consideration viscous dissipation effects is investigated. The stretching velocity, the temperature and the transverse magnetic field are assumed to vary in a power-law with the distance from the origin. The flow is induced due to an infinite elastic sheet which is stretched in its own plane. The governing equations are reduced to non-linear ordinary differential equations by means of similarity transformations. By using quasi-linearization techniques first linearize the non linear momentum equation is linearized and then the coupled ordinary differential equations are solved numerically by an implicit finite difference scheme. The numerical solution is found to be dependent on several governing parameters, including the magnetic field parameter, power-law index, Eckert number, velocity exponent parameter, temperature exponent parameter, modified Prandtl number and heat source/sink parameter. A systematic study is carried out to illustrate the effects of these parameters on the fluid velocity and the temperature distribution in the boundary layer. The results for the local skin-friction coefficient and the local Nusselt number are tabulated and discussed.

The paper deals with an unsteady two dimensional laminar slip flow of a viscous incompressible magnetomicropolar fluid past a semi infinite porous plate embedded in a porous medium. The flow is under the influence of a transverse magnetic field and heat source/sink. The free stream velocity follows an exponentially increasing or decreasing small perturbation law. The aim of this paper is to study the effects of chemical reaction and heat source/sink on a steady MHD (magnetohydrodynamic) two-dimensional mixed convective boundary layer flow of a Maxwell nanofluid over a porous exponentially stretching sheet in the presence of suction/blowing. Convective boundary conditions of temperature and nanoparticle concentration are employed in the formulation. Similarity transformations are used to convert the governing partial differential equations into non-linear ordinary differential equations. The resulting non-linear system has been solved analytically using an efficient technique, namely: the homotopy analysis method (HAM). Expressions for velocity, temperature and nanoparticle concentration fields are developed in series form. Convergence of the constructed solution is verified. A comparison is made with the available results in the literature and our results are in very good agreement with the known results. The obtained results are presented through graphs for several sets of values of the parameters and salient features of the solutions are analyzed. Numerical values of the local skin-friction, Nusselt number and nanoparticle Sherwood number are computed and analyzed.
