Opis:
The subject of the paper are Green’s functions for the stress intensity factors of modes I, II and III. Green’s functions are defined as a solution to the problem of an elastic, transversely isotropic solid with a penny-shaped or an external crack under general axisymmetric loadings acting along a circumference on the plane parallel to the crack plane. Exact solutions are presented in a closed form for the stress intensity factors under each type of axisymmetric ring forces as fundamental solutions. Numerical examples are employed and conclusions which can be utilized in engineering practice are formulated.

Opis:
The paper discusses the boundary layer flow of a weak electrically conducting viscoelastic Walters’ liquid B over a nonlinearly stretching sheet subjected to an applied transverse magnetic field, when the liquid far awal from the surface is at rest. The stretching is assumed to be a quadratic function of the coordinate along the direction of stretching. An analytical expression is obtained for the stream function and velocity components as a function of the viscoelastic parameter, the Chandrasekhar number and stretching related parameters. The results have possible technological applications in liquid based systems involving stretchable materials.

Opis:
Two elastic plate problems made of duralumin are solved analytically using the displacement potential approach for the case of plane strain and plane stress conditions. Firstly, a one end fixed plate is considered in which the rest of the edges are stiffened and a uniform load is applied to the opposite end of the fixed end. Secondly, a plate is considered in which all of the edges are stiffened and a uniform tension is applied at its both ends. Solutions to both of the problems are presented for the case of plane stress and plane strain conditions. The effects of plane stress and plane strain conditions on the solutions are explained. In the case of stiffening of the edges of the plate, the shape of the plate does not change abruptly, which is clearly observed in both of the cases. For the plane strain condition, the plates become stiffer in the loading direction as compared to the plane stress condition. For the plane strain condition, there is a significant variation of the normal stress component, σzz at different sections of the plate. The graphical results, clearly identify the critical regions of the plate for the case of the plane stress and plane strain condition.
