Opis:
The purpose of this paper is to extend results on regional internal stabilization for infinite bilinear systems to the case where the subregion of interest is a part of the boundary of the system evolution domain. Then we characterize either stabilizing control on a boundary part, or the one minimizing a given cost of performance. The obtained results are illustrated with numerical examples.

Opis:
In this paper we investigate the local stabilizability of single-input nonlinear affine systems by means of an estimated state feedback law given by a bilinear observer. The associated bilinear approximating system is assumed to be observable for any input and stabilizable by a homogeneous feedback law of degree zero. Furthermore, we discuss the case of planar systems which admit bad inputs (i.e. the ones that make bilinear systems unobservable). A separation principle for such systems is given.

Repetitive processes constitute a distinct class of 2D systems, i.e., systems characterized by information propagation in two independent directions, which are interesting in both theory and applications. They cannot be controlled by a direct extension of the existing techniques from either standard (termed 1D here) or 2D systems theories. Here we give new results on the design of physically based control laws. These results are for a sub-class of discrete linear repetitive processes with switched dynamics in both independent directions of information propagation.

This paper is concerned with the problem of robust stabilization of linear time-varying delay systems containing saturating actuators in the presence of nonlinear parametric perturbations. Based on Razumikhin's approach to the stability of functional differential equations, we determine upper bounds on the time-varying delay such that the uncertain system under consideration is robustly globally or locally asymptotically stabilizable via memoryless state feedback control laws. The obtained bounds are given in terms of solutions to Lyapunov equations. Two numerical examples are included to illustrate the results.

A new class of fractional 2D linear discrete-time systems is introduced. The fractional difference definition is applied to each dimension of a 2D Roesser model. Solutions of these systems are derived using a 2D Z-transform. The classical Cayley-Hamilton theorem is extended to 2D fractional systems described by the Roesser model. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the positivity and stabilization by the state-feedback of fractional 2D linear systems are established. A procedure for the computation of a gain matrix is proposed and illustrated by a numerical example.

The paper deals with a specific kind of discrete-time recurrent neural network designed with dynamic neuron models. Dynamics are reproduced within each single neuron, hence the network considered is a locally recurrent globally feedforward. A crucial problem with neural networks of the dynamic type is stability as well as stabilization in learning problems. The paper formulates local stability conditions for the analysed class of neural networks using Lyapunov's first method. Moreover, a stabilization problem is defined and solved as a constrained optimization task. In order to tackle this problem, a gradient projection method is adopted. The efficiency and usefulness of the proposed approach are justified by using a number of experiments.

Opis:
This paper is concerned with robust stabilization of continuous linear positive time-delay systems with parametric uncertainties. The delay considered in this work is a bounded time-varying function. Previously, we have demonstrated that the equidistant delay-decomposition technique is less conservative when it is applied to linear positive time-delay systems. Thus, we use simply a delay bi-decomposition in an appropriate Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional. By using classical and partitioned control gains, the state-feedback controllers developed in our work are formulated in terms of linear matrix inequalities. The efficiency of the proposed robust control laws is illustrated with via an example.

Opis:
This paper deals with the finite-time stabilization problem for a class of uncertain disturbed systems using linear robust control. The proposed algorithm is designed to provide the robustness of a linear feedback control scheme such that system trajectories arrive at a small-size attractive set around an unstable equilibrium in a finite time. To this end, an optimization problem with a linear matrix inequality constraint is presented. This means that the effects of external disturbances, as well as matched and mismatched uncertain dynamics, can be significantly reduced. Finally, the performance of the suggested closed-loop control strategies is shown by the trajectory tracking of an unmanned aerial vehicle flight.

Opis:
Stabilization of neutral systems with state delay is considered in the presence of uncertainty and input limitations in magnitude. The proposed solution is based on simultaneously characterizing a set of stabilizing controllers and the associated admissible initial conditions through the use of a free weighting matrix approach. From this mathematical characterization, state feedback gains that ensure a large set of admissible initial conditions are calculated by solving an optimization problem with LMI constraints. Some examples are presented to compare the results with previous approaches in the literature.

We analyze quadratic performance for switched systems which are composed of a finite set of affine time-varying subsystems, where both subsystem matrices and affine vectors are switched, and no single subsystem has desired quadratic performance. The quadratic performance indexes we deal with include stability, tracking and L2 gain. We show that if a linear convex combination of subsystem matrices is uniformly Hurwitz and another convex combination of affine vectors is zero, then we can design a state-dependent switching law (state feedback) and an output-dependent switching law (output feedback) such that the entire switched affine system is quadratically stable at the origin. In the case where the convex combination of affine vectors is nonzero, we show that the tracking control problem can be posed and solved using a similar switching strategy. Finally, we consider the L2 gain analysis problem for the switched affine time-varying systems under state feedback.

Opis:
In this paper, new non-quadratic stability conditions are derived based on the parallel distributed compensation scheme to stabilize Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems. We use a non-quadratic Lyapunov function as a fuzzy mixture of multiple quadratic Lyapunov functions. The quadratic Lyapunov functions share the same membership functions with the T-S fuzzy model. The stability conditions we propose are less conservative and stabilize also fuzzy systems which do not admit a quadratic stabilization. The proposed approach is based on two assumptions. The first one relates to a proportional relation between multiple Lyapunov functions and the second one considers an upper bound to the time derivative of the premise membership functions. To illustrate the advantages of our proposal, four examples are given.
