A spectral method of the analysis of linear control systems is considered. Within the framework of this approach the σ-entropy of input signals and the σ-entropy norm of systems are introduced. The invariance of the introduced norm makes it possible to get invariant results of σ-entropy analysis.

Opis:
This paper considers the problem of robust reconstruction of simultaneous actuator and sensor faults for a class of uncertain Takagi–Sugeno nonlinear systems with unmeasurable premise variables. The proposed fault reconstruction and estimation design method with H∞ performance is used to reconstruct both actuator and sensor faults when the latter are transformed into pseudo-actuator faults by introducing a simple filter. The main contribution is to develop a sliding mode observer (SMO) with two discontinuous terms to solve the problem of simultaneous faults. Sufficient stability conditions in terms linear matrix inequalities are achieved to guarantee the stability of the state estimation error. The observer gains are obtained by solving a convex multiobjective optimization problem. Simulation examples are given to illustrate the performance of the proposed observer.

This contribution deals with different concepts of nonlinear control for mechatronic systems. Since most physical systems are nonlinear in nature, it is quite obvious that an improvement in the performance of the closed loop can often be achieved only by means of control techniques that take the essential nonlinearities into consideration. Nevertheless, it can be observed that industry often hesitates to implement these nonlinear controllers, despite all advantages existing from the theoretical point of view. On the basis of three different applications, a PWM-controlled dc-to-dc converter, namely the Cuk-converter, the problem of hydraulic gap control in steel rolling, and the design of smart structures with piezolelectric sensor and actuator layers, we will demonstrate how one can overcome these problems by exploiting the physical structure of the mathematical models of the considered plants.

Opis:
This article describes a new procedure for the design of decentralized output-feedback tracking controllers for a class of interconnected Takagi–Sugeno (TS) fuzzy systems with external bounded disturbances and measurement noise. The main idea consists in transforming the decentralized tracking control problem, by using the descriptor redundancy formulation, to a robust decentralized stabilization one. The non-parallel distributed compensation (non-PDC) controllers proposed here are synthesized to satisfy robust H∞ tracking performance with disturbance attenuation. The decentralized controllers design conditions are given in terms of LMIs via extended quadratic Lyapunov functions. Finally, simulations are presented: two numerical examples are dedicated to compare the conservatism of the proposed approach regarding the previous results available in the literature; then, the effectiveness of the decentralized controller design methodology is illustrated with a closed-loop simulation of two inverted pendulums connected by a spring.

Opis:
In this work, the problem of position regulation control is addressed for a 2DOF underactuated mechanical system with friction and backlash. For this purpose, a method combining sliding mode and H∞ control is developed. We prove that the application of the method to the nonlinear model considered results in an asymptotically stable equilibria set. Moreover, it is possible to achieve a sufficiently small and bounded steady-state position error even in the presence of disturbances by employing the proposed technique. That is, the developed controller is able to account not only for unmatched external perturbations and model discrepancies of the test rig considered, but also for matched bounded perturbations. The control methodology is presented from both the theoretical and experimental angles to demonstrate the good performance of the proposed controller.

Opis:
With the aim to better preserve sharp edges and important structure features in the recovered image, this article researches an improved adaptive total variation regularization and H-1 norm fidelity based strategy for image decomposition and restoration. Computationally, for minimizing the proposed energy functional, we investigate an efficient numerical algorithm—the split Bregman method, and briefly prove its convergence. In addition, comparisons are also made with the classical OSV (Osher–Sole–Vese) model (Osher et al., 2003) and the TV-Gabor model (Aujol et al., 2006), in terms of the edge-preserving capability and the recovered results. Numerical experiments markedly demonstrate that our novel scheme yields significantly better outcomes in image decomposition and denoising than the existing models.

Opis:
We consider a class of two- and three-dimensional h-refined meshes generated by an adaptive finite element method. We introduce an element partition tree, which controls the execution of the multi-frontal solver algorithm over these refined grids. We propose and study algorithms with polynomial computational cost for the optimization of these element partition trees. The trees provide an ordering for the elimination of unknowns. The algorithms automatically optimize the element partition trees using extensions of dynamic programming. The construction of the trees by the dynamic programming approach is expensive. These generated trees cannot be used in practice, but rather utilized as a learning tool to propose fast heuristic algorithms. In this first part of our paper we focus on the dynamic programming approach, and draw a sketch of the heuristic algorithm. The second part will be devoted to a more detailed analysis of the heuristic algorithm extended for the case of hp-adaptive grids.

Opis:
In this paper, we consider the design of interconnected H infinity feedback control systems with quantized signals. We assume that a decentralized dynamic output feedback has been designed for an interconnected continuous-time LTI system so that the closed-loop system is stable and a desired H infinity disturbance attenuation level is achieved, and that the subsystem measurement outputs are quantized before they are passed to the local controllers. We propose a local-output-dependent strategy for updating the parameters of the quantizers, so that the overall closed-loop system is asymptotically stable and achieves the same H infinity disturbance attenuation level. Both the pre-designed controllers and the parameters of the quantizers are constructed in a decentralized manner, depending on local measurement outputs.

Opis:
This paper is concerned with the problem of stochastic stability and generalized H2 control for discrete-time fuzzy largescale stochastic systems with time-varying and infinite-distributed delays. Large-scale interconnected systems consist of a number of discrete-time interconnected Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) subsystems. First, a novel Delay-Dependent Piecewise Lyapunov-Krasovskii Functional (DDPLKF0 is proposed, in which both the upper and the lower bound of delays are considered. Then, two improved delay-dependent stability conditions are established based on this DDPLKF in terms of Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs). The merit of the proposed conditions lies in its reduced conservatism, which is achieved by circumventing the utilization of some bounding inequalities for cross products of two vectors and by considering the interactions among the fuzzy subsystems in each subregion. A decentralized generalized H2 state feedback fuzzy controller is designed for each subsystem. It is shown that the mean-square stability for discrete T-S fuzzy large-scale stochastic systems can be established if a DDPLKF can be constructed and a decentralized controller can be obtained by solving a set of LMIs. Finally, an illustrative example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
