Opis:
This paper describes a robust set-membership-based Fault Detection and Isolation (FDI) technique for a particular class of nonlinear systems, the so-called flat systems. The proposed strategy consists in checking if the expected input value belongs to an estimated feasible set computed using the system model and the derivatives of the measured output vector. The output derivatives are computed using a numerical differentiator. The set-membership estimator design for the input vector takes into account the measurement noise thereby making the consistency test robust. The performances of the proposed strategy are illustrated through a three-tank system simulation affected by actuator faults.

A distributed discrete-time hereditary system is considered. An unknown input is supposed to be a perturbation. First, we investigate the possibility of reconstructing this input using the information provided by an output equation. Then we treat the problem of keeping the observation as close as possible to some desired values (with the system still perturbed by the unknown input). To illustrate the results, some examples are presented.

Opis:
First, we consider non-linear discrete-time and continuous-time systems with unknown inputs. The problem of reconstructing an input using the information given by an output equation is investigated. Then we examine a control problem for non-linear discrete-time hereditary systems, i.e. the problem of finding a control which drives the state of the system from its initial value to a given desired final state. The methods used to solve these problems are based on the state-space technique and fixed-point theorems. To illustrate the outlined ideas, various numerical simulation results are presented.

Opis:
This paper proposes a new approach to designing a relatively simple algorithmic fault detection system that is potentially applicable in embedded diagnostic structures. The method blends the LQ control principle with checking and evaluating unavoidable degradation in the sequence of discrete-time LQ control performance index values due to faults in actuators, sensors or system dynamics. Design conditions are derived, and direct computational forms of the algorithms are given. A simulation example subject to different types of failures is used to illustrate the design process and to demonstrate the effectiveness of the method.

Opis:
In this paper, the robust fault detection problem for LPV singular delayed systems in the presence of disturbances and actuator faults is considered. For both disturbance decoupling and actuator fault detection, an unknown input observer (UIO) is proposed. The aim is to compute a residual signal which has minimum sensitivity to disturbances while having maximum sensitivity to faults. Robustness to unknown inputs is formulated in the sense of the H∞-norm by means of the bounded real lemma (BRL) for LPV delayed systems. In order to formulate fault sensitivity conditions, a reference model which characterizes the ideal residual behavior in a faulty situation is considered. The residual error with respect to this reference model is computed. Then, the maximization of the residual fault effect is converted to minimization of its effect on the residual error and is addressed by using the BRL. The compromise between the unknown input effect and the fault effect on the residual is translated into a multi-objective optimization problem with some LMI constraints. In order to show the efficiency and applicability of the proposed method, a part of the Barcelona sewer system is considered.

Opis:
The focus of this paper is on stochastic change detection applied in connection with active fault diagnosis (AFD). An auxiliary input signal is applied in AFD. This signal injection in the system will in general allow us to obtain a fast change detection/isolation by considering the output or an error output from the system. The classical cumulative sum (CUSUM) test will be modified with respect to the AFD approach applied. The CUSUM method will be altered such that it will be able to detect a change in the signature from the auxiliary input signal in an (error) output signal. It will be shown how it is possible to apply both the gain and the phase change of the output signal in CUSUM tests. The method is demonstrated using an example.

The problem of diagnostic filter design is studied. Algebraic and geometric approaches to solving this problem are investigated. Some relations between these approaches are established. Opis:
This paper focuses on supervisory fault tolerant control design for a class of systems with faults ranging over a finite cover. The proposed framework is based on a switched system approach, and relies on a supervisory switching within a family of pre-computed candidate controllers without individual fault detection and isolation schemes. Each fault set can be accommodated either by one candidate controller or by a set of controllers under an appropriate switching law. Two aircraft examples are included to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method.

Opis:
The aim of the paper is to present a supervisory decentralized architecture for the design and development of reconfigurable and fault-tolerant control systems in road vehicles. The performance specifications are guaranteed by local controllers, while the coordination of these components is provided by a supervisor. Since the monitoring components and FDI filters provide the supervisor with information about the various vehicle maneuvers and the different fault operations, it is able to make decisions about necessary interventions into the vehicle motions and guarantee reconfigurable and fault-tolerant operation of the vehicle. The design of the proposed reconfigurable and fault-tolerant control is based on an LPV method that uses monitored scheduling variables during the operation of the vehicle.

Opis:
The problem of fault detection and isolation in nonlinear uncertain systems is studied within the scope of the analytical redundancy concept. The problem solution involves checking the redundancy relations existing among measured system inputs and outputs. A novel method is proposed for constructing redundancy relations based on system models described by differential equations whose right-hand sides are polynomials. The method involves a nonlinear transformation of the initial system model into a strict feedback form. Algebraic and geometric tools are used for this transformation. The features of the method are made particular for uncertain systems with a linear structure.

Opis:
This paper describes an application of sensitivity theory to the analysis of a certain class of fuzzy systems which can be used for fault detection and isolation (FDI). The work is divided into three main tasks. The first is the mathematical representation of some class of fuzzy systems. This is followed by an application of sensitivity theory to fuzzy systems based on the approach detailed in the first part. Finally, this method is applied to a fuzzy fault diagnosis scheme for the two-tank system, and the results compared with those achieved by the application of sensitivity theory to a non-fuzzy diagnosis scheme for the same system. Simulation results for the fuzzy and non-fuzzy fault diagnosis schemes are presented, which verify the results obtained via the application of sensitivity theory.
