Opis:
This paper deals with the stability problem for a class of linear neutral delay-differential systems. The time delay is assumed constant and known. Delay-dependent criteria are derived. The criteria are given in the form of linear matrix inequalities which are easy to use when checking the stability of the systems considered. Numerical examples indicate significant improvements over some existing results.

Opis:
The curse of dimensionality is a damning factor for numerous potentially powerful machine learning techniques. Widely approved and otherwise elegant methodologies used for a number of different tasks ranging from classification to function approximation exhibit relatively high computational complexity with respect to dimensionality. This limits severely the applicability of such techniques to real world problems. Rough set theory is a formal methodology that can be employed to reduce the dimensionality of datasets as a preprocessing step to training a learning system on the data. This paper investigates the utility of the Rough Set Attribute Reduction (RSAR) technique to both supervised and unsupervised learning in an effort to probe RSAR's generality. FuREAP, a Fuzzy-Rough Estimator of Algae Populations, which is an existing integration of RSAR and a fuzzy Rule Induction Algorithm (RIA), is used as an example of a supervised learning system with dimensionality reduction capabilities. A similar framework integrating the Multivariate Adaptive Regression Splines (MARS) approach and RSAR is taken to represent unsupervised learning systems. The paper describes the three techniques in question, discusses how RSAR can be employed with a supervised or an unsupervised system, and uses experimental results to draw conclusions on the relative success of the two integration efforts.

This paper is concerned with the problem of robust stabilization of linear time-varying delay systems containing saturating actuators in the presence of nonlinear parametric perturbations. Based on Razumikhin's approach to the stability of functional differential equations, we determine upper bounds on the time-varying delay such that the uncertain system under consideration is robustly globally or locally asymptotically stabilizable via memoryless state feedback control laws. The obtained bounds are given in terms of solutions to Lyapunov equations. Two numerical examples are included to illustrate the results.

In this paper, a NonStandard Finite Difference (NSFD) scheme is constructed, which can be used to determine numerical solutions for an epidemic model with vaccination. Here the NSFD method is employed to derive a set of difference equations for the epidemic model with vaccination. We show that difference equations have the same dynamics as the original differential system, such as the positivity of the solutions and the stability of the equilibria, without being restricted by the time step. Our proof of global stability utilizes the method of Lyapunov functions. Numerical simulation illustrates the effectiveness of our results.

In this paper, for multiple different chaotic systems with fully unknown parameters, a novel synchronization scheme called ‘modified function projective multi-lag generalized compound synchronization’ is put forward. As an advantage of the new method, not only the addition and subtraction, but also the multiplication of multiple chaotic systems are taken into consideration. This makes the signal hidden channels more abundant and the signal hidden methods more flexible. By virtue of finite-time stability theory and an adaptive control technique, a finite-time adaptive control scheme is established to realize the finite-time synchronization and to properly evaluate the unknown parameters. A detailed theoretical derivation and a specific numerical simulation demonstrate the feasibility and validity of the advanced scheme.

Opis:
The dynamics of a discrete-time predator–prey model with Holling-IV functional response are investigated. It is shown that the model undergoes a flip bifurcation, a Hopf bifurcation and a saddle-node bifurcation by using the center manifold theorem and bifurcation theory. Numerical simulations not only exhibit our results with the theoretical analysis, but also show the complex dynamical behaviors, such as the period-3, 6, 9, 12, 20, 63, 70, 112 orbits, a cascade of period-doubling bifurcations in period-2, 4, 8, 16, quasi-periodic orbits, an attracting invariant circle, an inverse period-doubling bifurcation from the period-32 orbit leading to chaos and a boundary crisis, a sudden onset of chaos and a sudden disappearance of the chaotic dynamics, attracting chaotic sets and non-attracting sets. We also observe that when the prey is in chaotic dynamics the predator can tend to extinction or to a stable equilibrium. Specifically, we stabilize the chaotic orbits at an unstable fixed point by using OGY chaotic control.

This paper investigates the problem of fault tolerant control of a class of uncertain switched nonlinear systems with time delay under asynchronous switching. The systems under consideration suffer from delayed switchings of the controller. First, a fault tolerant controller is proposed to guarantee exponentially stability of the switched systems with time delay. The dwell time approach is utilized for stability analysis and controller design. Then the proposed approach is extended to take into account switched time delay systems with Lipschitz nonlinearities and structured uncertainties. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This paper proposes a novel approach to reliability evaluation for active Fault Tolerant Control Systems (FTCSs). By introducing a reliability index based on the control performance and hard deadline, a semi-Markov process model is proposed to describe system operation for reliability evaluation. The degraded performance of FTCSs in the presence of imperfect Fault Detection and Isolation (FDI) is reflected by semi-Markov states. The semi-Markov kernel, the key parameter of the process, is determined by four probabilistic parameters based on the Markovian model of FTCSs. Computed from the transition probabilities of the semi-Markov process, the reliability index incorporates control objectives, hard deadline, and the effects of imperfect FDI, a suitable quantitative measure of the overall performance.

This paper proposes a recursive identification method for systems with output backlash that can be described by a pseudo-Wiener model. In this method, a novel description of the nonlinear part of the system, i.e., backlash, is developed. In this case, the nonlinear system is decomposed into a piecewise linearized model. Then, a modified recursive general identification algorithm (MRGIA) is employed to estimate the parameters of the proposed model. Furthermore, the convergence of the MRGIA for the pseudo-Wiener system with backlash is analysed. Finally, a numerical example is presented.

Service systems and their cooperation are one of the most important and hot topics in management and information sciences. To design a reasonable allocation mechanism of service systems is the key issue in the cooperation of service systems. In this paper, we systematically introduce the interval Shapley value as cost allocation of cooperative interval games ,[...] arising from cooperation in a multi-server service system, and provide an explicit expression for the interval Shapley value of cooperative interval games [...]. We construct an interval game [...] of a service system which shares the same value for the grand coalition with the original interval game, by using the characteristic function which is dominated by the function of the original interval game. One important concept related to RST is that of a rough relation. This paper rewrites some properties of rough relations found in the literature, proving their validity.

Opis:
Personal identification is particularly important in information security. There are numerous advantages of using electroencephalogram (EEG) signals for personal identification, such as uniqueness and anti-deceptiveness. Currently, many researchers focus on single-dataset personal identification, instead of the cross-dataset. In this paper, we propose a method for cross-dataset personal identification based on a brain network of EEG signals. First, brain functional networks are constructed from the phase synchronization values between EEG channels. Then, some attributes of the brain networks including the degree of a node, the clustering coefficient and global efficiency are computed to form a new feature vector. Lastly, we utilize linear discriminant analysis (LDA) to classify the extracted features for personal identification. The performance of the method is quantitatively evaluated on four datasets involving different cognitive tasks: (i) a four-class motor imagery task dataset in BCI Competition IV (2008), (ii) a two-class motor imagery dataset in the BNCI Horizon 2020 project, (iii) a neuromarketing dataset recorded by our laboratory, (iv) a fatigue driving dataset recorded by our laboratory. Empirical results of this paper show that the average identification accuracy of each data set was higher than 0.95 and the best one achieved was 0.99, indicating a promising application in personal identification.
