- The Polish Notary has profound effects in the establishment and application of Polish law. It is not wit- hout reason that a professional notary has been assigned the status of a profession of public trust. The notary stands in defense of the rights, interests and obligations of the parties. Statements submitted to a notary public can be divided into constitutive and declaratory ones. The effects of such statements for substantive civil law or civil proceedings have already been comprehensively described. However, the importance of statements of knowledge and will of the parties in the light of the protection their interests and the obligation to protect law enforcement assigned to notaries has been addressed in the presented article. The analysis carried out on the basis of systemic notarial standards provides the conclusions on the need to improve the existing provisions, in particular as regards the powers of the notary to protect the legal system.
