Opis:
Productive word formation of present-day German lexemes with exogenous elements, particularly confixes, has increased notably over the last few years. Consequentially these formations containing foreign elements have also attracted a great deal of attention among word formation researchers. Working towards an encyclopedic compilation of exogenous elements in German word formation it is demanded to crucially analyze these foreign elements in terms of etymological, structural, semantico-functional and textlinguistico-pragmatic criteria. This article provides insight into these aspects of analysis by examples of word-formation using exogenous elements such as -itis, -manie, -phob, and -aholic.

The article is an attempt to lay down equivalents of German and Polish idiomatic phrases with colour names. The search for types of equivalence is founded upon three semantic levels of idioms as well as upon the principle of invariability in the process of translation. In this way the author tries to distinguish three types of equivalence: phraseological, lexical and zero equivalence which is prevalent in case of German and Polish phrases with colour names.

The development of intercultural understanding and the ability of transcultural communication have become one of the key concepts of foreign language teaching. A necessary precondition of such a complex concept is, of course, the comparison of native and foreign reality that is often only displayed in the form of stereotyped behaviour patterns in textbook dialogues. In teaching foreign literature, however, a literary text can be a suitable means for students to become more aware of the foreign culture by observing and analysing it from an intercultural perspective. This article will therefore emphasize the validity of literary texts for preparing students for not only linguistic but also cultural experience. Thus the author will present current conceptions on the role of literature in foreign language teaching, examine specific criteria of the literary text choice for foreign language teaching purposes and provide an overview of current methodological trends for working with such texts.

Opis:
The article presents the ways of ranking assertions or sequences of assercions in a scientific text, with the use of metatext explications. This ranking results from introducing into the text meta-phrases which explicitly or implicitly expresses the author's speech act. Speech acts signal on the one hand the assertions which are especially important, in opposition to the important ones, on the other, second-rate assertions opposing the primary ones. The article aims to present the analysis of the text creating function of hierarchical metaphrases and the ways of realizing them.

The aim of this article is to describe the issue of effective vocabulary learning among the students of neophilological faculties as well as to provide an answer to the question on how to learn vocabulary effectively. To achieve this aim, two vocabulary learning strategies (the key-word method and learning by heart) were compared on the basis of empirical research. Moreover, the vocabulary learning style of the informants was described, the conclusions were drawn and recommendations given.

The present paper deals with the category of aspect as it occurs in Slavic Languages in general and in Polisch in particular and the way it is treated by the authors of textbooks of Polish designed to serve the needs of non-native speakers whose mother tongue lacks the morphological distinction of perfective and imperfective verbs. Special attention is paid to teaching problems which arise from both the nature and the theory of aspect. It could be shown that teaching and learning strategies which aim at enhancing problem-solving skills in the field of aspect cannot be developed at all levels and independently of theoretical issues. The latter, however, as it seems, have to undergo a critical revision thus giving birth to valuable and reliable didactic concepts leading to more efficiency and more satisfying results.

The Internet didactic modules for the purposes of teaching languages and translation have been marked by a low degree of interactivity so far. Tests have been proofed and assessed automatically by an operating system, solely according to the answers entered to the system beforehand. Unlike the previous systems, the aim of the preparation of the Linguistically Smart Software System for Glottodidactics and Translation Didactics is to enable an automatic assessment of all full sentences written by the students themselves. The main goal of the text is to describe a new linguistically smart software, which was developed for Polish and German universities on a largescale in order to teach a given language and translation effectively.

Dyslexic students have significant problems with learning a foreign language. Foreign language (FL) learning is built upon the native language (L1). The skills such as phonological/ orthographic, syntactic and semantic competences in the native language form the foundation for foreign language learning (and FL aptitude). The strength of the native language codes considerably determines the extent to which a learner can become proficient in a foreign language. Weak L1 skills inhibit FL proficiency development. That is why it is essential to provide dyslexic students with special support in foreign language classes.

The development of the audiovisual comprehension is in the contemporary mediatized world without a doubt very important foreign language learning and teaching goal. The aim of the article is to provide an overview of strategies that are useful while dealing with audiovisual materials in a foreign language. It is likely that the introduction of these strategies into language classes by teachers would help students to become more efficient learners.
