    The issue of legal regulation of abortion is one of the main challenges facing modern law. The bioethical problem of abortion has led to the emergence of many legal solutions in the world. Although in South Korea, since 1953, the termination of pregnancy is prohibited, the problem of illegal abortion still occurs. On 22 September 2016, the South Korean Ministry of Health proposed a project to change the legal status, tightening the penalty for terminating pregnancy, also specifying this act as an unethical medical act. The social reaction to the announced regulation of the law was a spontaneous protest – the equivalent of the Polish Black Protest. The Seoul protest took place on October 19, 2016, when hundreds of women went out into the streets of Seoul demonstrating their opposition. The purpose of this paper is to try to answer the question of how the proposed reform of the abortion law improves the social attitudes towards abortion law and the emergence of the “black protest” in South Korea.

    This article is an attempt to show the problem of the violation of human rights in the communist Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, based on the example of forced labour camps functioning there. North Korea is a country in which there is no political opposition, as all forms of disobedience to the existing dictatorship are  severely punished. The regime uses terror in the form of capital punishment or labour camps to maintain control over society. These camps markedly resemble the concentration camps that existed in Europe during the Second World War. The methods used there are crimes against humanity. Torture, human experiments and complete disregard for human life occur there on level that is very similar to methods employed by the Nazis in their death camps. Public opinion has long tried not to perceive the problem and to maintain a wall of silence. However on the international stage, this wall is beginning to crumble. More and more voices can be heard calling for international intervention and prosecution of perpetrators for responsibility for crimes before a competent international body.

    In the first part of the article, the author attempts to the understand interpersonal relation in South Korea. This chapter analyses the complexity of the interpersonal relation in Korea. The second chapter is about research types of Korean honorification. Korean honorification is divided into three (subject-honorific speech, object-honorific speech, hearer-honorific speech). In terms of Sociolinguistics, the article finds a way to understand honorification in the category of the Polish culture.

    The article focuses on the issue of soft power in two Asian countries – People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Korea. These countries differ significantly in size not only territorial but also military and economic, yet have much in common in culture and history, as well as in the active use of public diplomacy. The Article aims to briefly introduce the use and tools of soft power in both countries, and compare them, paying attention to both the deficiencies and successfully conducted operations of Seoul and Beijing.

    In recent years, we have seen a deterioration of the security environment in the Asian region. This situation is mainly influenced by the political, economic, and military rivalry among states. Countries that have nuclear weapons in their arsenals play important roles in the security system. Of the nine countries with nuclear weapons, four are in Asia. Along with increasing their nuclear capabilities, these states are also revising their war doctrines, often moving away from deterrence strategies and envisaging the use of nuclear weapons as a means of first strike. North Korea has made significant progress over the past two decades in developing its nuclear weapons arsenal, including means of delivery. It has conducted six nuclear tests and tested a number of new ballistic missiles, several of which can hit targets in Northeast Asia and potentially in the United States and Europe. It is estimated that North Korea could potentially produce 20 to 30 warheads to be delivered mainly by medium and short-range ballistic missiles. In September 2022, North Korea announced it would respond to attacks on its nuclear command and control systems by launching a nuclear attack “automatically and immediately.”

    The purpose of the paper is to discuss the intangible and tangible assets related to Confucianism in North Korea. The study aims to demonstrate that there is a dichotomy between the official discourse, the adherence of the North Korean leaders to Confucian values, and the policy toward Confucian and neo-Confucian assets existing in North Korea. The method which is used in this essay is based on an analysis of various historical sources relevant to the description and analysis of the functions of Confucian and neo-Confucian assets in North Korea. It is concluded that the concepts of filial piety and the role of women were culturally transformed. This essay is based to a large extent on North Korean documents. It also briefly mentions North Korean researchers who studied Confucianism and neo-Confucianism in the Korean Peninsula. The answer to the research problem will allow us to determine what the place is of Confucianism in the official discourse and in the cultural heritage of North Korea. The essay also provides elements explaining why Confucian and neo-Confucian tangible assets constitute cultural and economic tools of North Korean government policy.
    Celem artykułu jest omówienie niematerialnych i materialnych elementów dziedzictwa związanych z konfucjanizmem w Korei Północnej. Autor stawia tezę, że istnieje dychotomia między oficjalnym dyskursem, przywiązaniem przywódców Korei Północnej do wartości konfucjańskich a polityką wobec konfucjańskiego dziedzictwa istniejącego w Korei Północnej. Badania opierają się w dużej mierze na dokumentach północnokoreańskich. Odpowiedź na postawiony problem badawczy pozwoli określić, jakie jest miejsce konfucjanizmu w oficjalnym dyskursie i dziedzictwie kultury Korei Północnej. Autor odpowiada na pytanie, dlaczego materialne dziedzictwo konfucjańskie jest narzędziem polityki kulturowej Korei Północnej.

    State-owned enterprises are a part of most modern economies. Therefore, it is substantial to elaborate which model of supervision system is the most suitable for the challenges of each country. Since the 2015 there is an ongoing debate in Poland, about the shape of a stateowned enterprises supervision system. It was considered to establish a national holding company, which would perform the ownership function for Polish state-owned enterprises. An inspiration for this idea was the South Korean state-owned supervision system and the impact of the chaebols on the Korean national economy. The aim of this article it to examine Korean solutions, and to present the state-owned supervision system which function in Singapore, because in many ways it seems to be a more adequate inspiration for the needs of Polish decision-makers.

    East Asian countries have consistently maintained high levels of economic growth since the 1960s. In 1993, The East Asian Miracle report described an economic boom. The report presents the result of public policies of Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. Cultural (Confucian) background in East Asia is very important to explain the improvement of the quality of life especially in China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and Hong Kong. The quality of life is calculated in the Human Development Index, Quality of Life Index and Human Poverty Index.
