In the mainstream of contemporary discussion about relation between democracy and philosophy binds the principle, that the duty of proof of own position concerns only the philosophers (that the democrats have some privilege in this field). I think, that the principle hasn't got strong rational ground. Its importance stems rather from strength of the anti-philosophical, democratic Zeitgeist. Ideological diversity is in a democracy less spontaneous and thereby more frail, than in the other systems of government. A democracy has a considerable inclination to discrimination different - than democratic - ideas, opinions and experiences. Hence it needs a philosophy as an antidote for this inclination. The position, that philosophical reason in essentially inadequate to politics, often ignores vital difference between classical and rationalistic theory of knowledge. Besides the position disregards the fact, that the nominalist conversion in the intellectual tradition of West seems not final sentence of history.

Opis:
French philosopher Paul Ricoeur (1913-2005) is best known as the co-founder of modern hermeneutics. Under this framework, he developed a practical philosophy (theory of action). Its applications can be found in his attitude to public and civic issues (e.g. expressed in skepticism to the course of events in May 1968 or protests against the worsening social inequalities), where there was always a religious theme, resulting from a strong Christian faith rooted in the Protestant profile. Ricoeur differentiated politics as classically understood politics as a space for joint action within a framework of policies rather than more contemporary views, where it is associated with gaining and securing power. He pointed to the need for dialogue and negotiations between the government and the social partners, trade unions and political adversaries. Political activity becomes similar to practical wisdom.

The main issue of the article is the great change in the regional policy of China in the 20th century. The author claims that this policy evolved from the ideology of sinocentrism, where border countries were assumed as „peripheral areas" more or less dependent on China. As soon as Mao Zedong took the power, sinocentrism was used in the communistic ideology and became the basis of expansive policy towards the border states. Chinese government perceived its influence on the world in the three concentric circles: the first - „robbed" areas, which mainly consisted of the border countries, the second - Asian countries which were potential subjects of the Chinese supremacy, and the third - the whole world with China as the global empire. The sinocentric ideology of three circles combined with communistic propaganda led straightly into regional wars. In the 80s of the last century the great change in the regional and border policy of China took place. The author claims that the main reason for this change is the evolution of Chinese conception of power from relying only on military potential towards creating the secure international surrounding of China. This conception stressed the worth of strong economical binds between China and border countries. Economical modernization of China resulted in the „good neighbourhood" policy. The new border policy of China can be divided into three periods: from the early 80s till 1989, from 1989 till 1997 and the last - after 1997. In the first period of the new regional policy the Chinese government neglected the ideology as the political factor. That was the time when economical reforms had already begun. The beginning of the second period is related with the event on the Tiananmen and the end of the cold war. Those facts forced China to adapt its regional policy to new reality In 1997 the great breakthrough in the regional relations between China and border states took place. The author mentions two reasons for this situation. The first was the economic crisis in Asia, when the Chinese government decided to offer great financial help towards neighbour states. This fact highly improved relations and helped to develop cooperation between countries in the surrounding of China. The second reason was creation of „New Conception of National Security of China", which was based on mutual trust and binds of common interests between regional countries. The regional and boarder policy of China has strongly developed during centuries. However in the last years the certain priorities of this policy has been defined. The Chinese government combined the new vision of „Great China" with the „good neighbourhood policy". After so many years China realized that military expansion and war is not the proper way to create long-lasting peace and national security. The best solution to ensure secure international surrounding is development of cross-border cooperation together with mutual trust and understanding of countries in region.

In the Tanger area artist activity of the Jack Keruoack, Alan Ginsberg, William Burrougs and other artists and writers of the "beat generation" as well as an American writer Paul Bowles with his wife Jane Bowles who also wrote stories was aroused.

Politics can fulfill its mission only if it's work of building and improving the new world will be based on the strong foundations, which guarantee proper understanding of the good. It is a about human good, especially the common good. This common good deter¬mines the final justification of improving or building the world. These presented reflections focus on an issue of whether and how can this improvement of the temporal reality, be revived by the spirit of the Gospel? Good is the integral part of politics. Politics, according to its ethical approach, can be defined as a prudent concern for the common good. However, a Christian involved in politics should have an awa¬reness that the common good, a basic category of politics, is not confined to the temporal reality. It is as well transcendental, spi¬ritual and supernatural. It finds it's ultimate explanation in personal human good. The good of a human being is expressed by the quality of relationship between man and Creator, as well as in his vocation to the eternal happiness, and in his communion with the Triune God. Prudent concern for this good determines the most important sense of the politics conducted in a Christian spirit. It makes that involvement in the political sphere becomes a selfless service to the human being and society. In this perspective, as a matter of priority must be considered a necessity to properly discern the themes of Christian presence in politics. The criteria for political involvement of Christians are also important in this matter. The discernment of these criteria largely depends on the political sense, which as such, is shared by all people. These are the basic ideas presented in this article. Their objective is to identify the qualified nature as well as the necessity of politics conducted in a Christian way.

The experience the „Polish August 1980" was met with an interesting reflection and civic engagement on the part of Józef Tischner. This Cracovian philosopher and Catholic Priest is the author of the book „The Ethics of Solidarity". He introduced the concept of solidarity as a moral bond that occurs between people. Its implementation in times of communist oppression was associated with the concept of „bad policy." Tischner believed that in times of restored democracy (good politics) solidarity ties would be easier in practice, which turned out to be more complex. In the later period of reflection Tischner did not seem to appreciate the socio-political aspects of the ethos of solidarity, which would allow for the active participation of State.

The main aim of this article is to investigate relevant policy problems regarding religions and their impact on politics or vice versa, introduced by some members of religious movements and governments in Africa. The study is based on the main largest religions in Africa, Christianity and Islam and their followers. In the next few decades the African Muslim population is expected to grow at a faster rate, and this fact will have a great consequence regarding the impact of Islam which may dominate politics in Africa. Religious organizations are also engaged in launching their struggle for the control of political power; one of the best example could be successful control of governance strategy by the Islamists in Sudan, which led to persecution and imposing of Islamic law on Christians and other believers. In many African countries religions are used inappropriately for political purposes. The impact of religion is also used for manipulation. It also helps to adopt laws to fulfil the particular interests of ruling class. Religious based governments, do not respect the sphere of privacy for individuals and collective religious freedom, while they support only their religious preferences. On the other hand, they persecute and repress others. There are some signs of reinforcement of secular trends and the establishment of law guaranteeing division of religion and states in Africa. The main purpose of the linkage between religion and political power is intended to have full control over the citizens and to fight, repress or eliminate political and religious opponents.

Pope John Paul II in his teaching code of politics guided by conscience. It is based on four pillars are: peace, justice, solidarity and freedom. According to the Pope, they indicate the priorities of political activity, such as the prevention of unemployment and social exclusion, care for families and people with disabilities, economic development. The key to the whole social question is job. The key to peace is dialogue, education and equitable distribution of wealth. Everything can be achieved if the appropriate law is established. That is the reason why World needs MPs who are people of conscience. To be impartial, competent and acting in a spirit of service should be the priority for them. Follow that way they give witness to their faith and impeccable ethical attitude.

In the article the author describes the types of leadership in one of the polish political parties, the right wing party. The article's introduction includes reflections on the topic of ‘leadership' and ‘the right' as concepts. Following the introduction, the article examines the theoretical qualities of leadership in conjunction with the activities of Jaroslaw Kaczynski. The author also draws attention to the differences between the party's leadership in the right and left wing groups, taking into account regulatory and organizational determinants. Additionally the author notes the tendency of right wing leaders towards authoritarianism. This was pointed out by the author as being an unfavorable type of political culture for that kind of right wing leadership. The author mentions that the strong personality of Jarosław Kaczyński has a definitive influence on the types of leadership that Polish right-wing parties take on. He also points out the potential threat that kind of leadership poses, with respect to electoral weakness in the right-wing party.

The article discusses the position of Józef Tischner to State - Church relations. It points out that his vision is not a structured social philosophy. It is a lively, engaging, polemical reflection on the disputes that took place in the 90s in the Polish social domain. In addition, it highlights Tischner's critical stance towards a religious state, the politicization of religion, and strong right-wing attacks on liberal democracy. It then highlights a project indicating a positive role for the Church in a democratic state. The main task of the Church is to work for towards consolidating democracy's axiological foundation needed for the existence of civil society. In the end it considers the problem of Tischner's involvement in Polish political life, which largely seems to be an obstacle to a reliable description of social phenomena.

Since the late 1980s, it has become a new research direction to examine international relations from women's perspectives. The main objective of this article is to explain the major problems facing feminism in the contemporary international relations. This article evaluates the major debates around feminist theories with respect to the discipline of international relations. Feminism is conventionally positioned as oppositional to direct and structural violence. Feminists in international relations argue that realism is a patriarchal discourse that renders women invisible from the high politics of international relations; ultimately perpetuated and dominated by elite, white, male practitioners.

Still today questions are raised about Margaret Thatcher's leadership abilities. Questions such as: whether and to what extent the former Prime Minister was a doctrinaire without essential political competence? Did the policies implemented during her occupancy break the traditions of classical British conservatism? Did the Iron Lady's commercialism destroy traditional social ties of Tory England? Did her populism undermined the position of the British political establishment? Or can we talk about the economic miracle of the Thatcher era? By seeking answers to these and other questions the author of this article refers to the opinion of the several respected researchers of the New Right and the Tory traditionalism. He also harks back to the criticism of Thatcherism and the Iron Lady, which were the works of enemies within her own party, as well as of the intellectual circles of the left. Frequently those who have distanced, and those who currently distance themselves from the closer relationships with British conservatism.
