Opis:
Barbotage reactors extensively used in various branches of industry and bioengineering have been investigated in numerous studies. Recently the moving bed has become a popular solution in sewage and water treatment processes. Purification and transportation of small amounts of sewage from households and industrial plants is a hydraulic and technological problem for the sewage system and sewage treatment plants. A hybrid barbotage reactor (HBR) may be applied to transport small wastewater volumes while simultaneously aerating sewage. This study was conducted on a prototype hybrid barbotage reactor equipped with a pipe element for sewage circulation and aeration, which was packed with a moving bed to 20% of its volume. Based on the results of measurements, oxidation curves have been plotted and the efficiencies of sewage treatment have been calculated for the reactor aerated in the continuous and intermittent modes. The amount of energy used to treat and transport sewage has been established.

Opis:
Research into the removal efficiency of biogenic substances, necessary for the growth of heterotrophic microorganisms, was carried out for the following water treatment trials: surface water, infiltrative water and mixed surface water after microsieving with aerated underground water. The results have shown that the efficiency of removal of organic substances, independently of the type of treated water, increased along with the organic carbon concentrations in raw water. The average effectiveness of phosphate removal was: 92.1%, 88.8% and 83.7% for surface, infiltrative and mixed water, respectively. In all analyzed systems, presence of phosphates was an limiting factor for the regrowth of microorganisms in the distribution system. In none of the water treatment trials, effective removal of inorganic nitrogen has been recorded.

Opis:
Driven by the booming demands for healthy food, aquaculture industry has to deal with the problem of water pollution appropriately so as to achieve sustainable development. In this study, a combination of four stage CWs (three horizontal subsurface flows followed by one free water surface flow) was configured to treat low-strength aquaculture wastewater. For performance assessment, the wetlands were monitored over three years, during which artificial aeration was added to them. By the results, the organic matters and nutrients were mainly sequestered in the anterior subsurface flows, while the surface flow mainly contributed to DO improvement. These results probably implied no necessity of excessive subsurface flows connected in a staged manner. In addition, the artificial aeration improved the treatment performance on ammonium-N, TN and TP in the first-stage CW.
