Opis:
An electrokinetic remediation technique taking Cr(VI) as an example is proposed to improve the conductivity of contaminated soil, which significantly increases the current density in the soil. The improvement of soil conductivity was achieved by continuous spraying of NaCl solution with a concentration of 4 g·dm–3 on the soil surface. The distances of electrode pairs were 2.0 m and 1.5 m, respectively. The heavy metal-contaminated soil thickness was 25 cm, and the DC power supply voltage was 90 V. The experiment demonstrated that under the condition of continuous spraying of NaCl solution on the soil surface, the current density variation was related to the salt content in the soil, and the current density in the soil generally increased linearly with time. The effectiveness of soil remediation is related to the electric field strength and current density, and there exists an optimal electric field that can reduce the heavy metal content in the soil at any point by minimizing the electric field strength and current density. Most of the heavy metals can be concentrated within a diameter of about 15 cm around the anode under the optimal electric field, which can be remediated after removing the soil.

Opis:
The study was carried out to evaluate the efficiencies of various remediation technologies (advanced oxidation processes and bioremediation) for removing diazinon and malathion residues from water. Nano photo-Fenton reagent (Fe0(nano)/H2O2AJV) was the most effective treatment for diazinon and malathion removal while ultraviolet alone was the least effective one. Bioremediation of diazinon and malathion by effective microorganisms (EMs) removed about 100% of their initial concentration. There was no remaining toxicity in contaminated water after remediation except for ultraviolet alone on treated rats. Advanced oxidation processes with nanomaterials and bioremediation with effective microorganisms can be regarded as safe and effective remediation technologies.

Opis:
A laboratory experiment lasting for 90 days was conducted to examine the interaction between a remediation plant, Gossypium hirsutum, and the petroleum contaminated soil. Root indices and 9 various types of soil enzymatic activities in two separate groups were determined. Results showed that compared to the uncontaminated control, the growth of cotton roots was slightly strengthened at the pollution level of 1000 mg-kg-1, while seriously inhibited at the pollution level of 2000 mg-kg-1 and 4000 mg-kg-1. At the same pollution level, all studied soil enzymatic activities except alkaline phosphatase were markedly higher in the group with plants than in the group without plants which may indicate that the content of nutrients essential for plant growth as well as the activities of microorganisms capable of degrading contaminants were both enhanced in soils planted with cotton, therefore conducive to the increase of the overall fertility level and the degradation of pollutants in the petroleum contaminated soil.
