Opis:
he usability of the micellar enhanced ultrafiltration (MEUF) for removal of phosphates from aqueous solutions has been evaluated. The process was performed with the use of polyethersulfone membranes under various transmembrane pressures (0.1, 0.15, and 0.2 MPa). Phosphorous solutions containing 15 mg of PO3-4/dm3 and two cationic surfactants: octadecylamine acetate (ODA) and hexadecylpyridium chloride (CPC) were used in the tests. The concentration of ODA and CPC amounted to 2 and 3 CMC (Critical Micelle Concentration) as well as 2, 3 and 6 CMC, respectively. The results of the study showed that the surfactant type and its concentration influenced the process efficiency. The phosphate removal with the use of ODA was approximately 95%, whereas application of CPC gave unsatisfactory results.

Opis:
Steel-making dust slurry (SS) and convertor dust slurry (CS) were tested for uptake of phosphates from aqueous solutions. The adsorption of phosphates on SS and CS corresponded well with both Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherms, which indicated the combination of physical and chemical processes. The maximum adsorbed amount of phosphates on both dust slurry samples was ca. 11 mg P/g. The study evaluates also the effect of acidic leaching on the retention characteristics of both dust slurry samples. From the slurry samples prepared by acidic leaching, the leached convertor dust slurry (CSL) was the only sample capable to retain phosphates. To reveal the retention mechanisms of phosphates, the original and leached dust slurry samples were analyzed by IR and Raman spectroscopy. Co-precipitation of Ca and Fe phosphates, or surface complexation of phosphates were evaluated as the retention mechanisms of CS and CSL while the retention of phosphates by zincite in the case of SS is probably based on their adsorption.

Opis:
The efficiency of the electrocoagulation process for the removal of phosphate ions (PO43--P) has been analyzed using a batch full-scale reactor with aluminum electrodes. The effects of the flow rate through the reactor applied current density, and reactor volume were the focus of the study. The initial (PO43--P) concentration was reduced by 90% after 90 min of reactor operation time. Additionally, a three-dimensional numerical model for PO43--P removal via the electrocoagulation process is developed that includes the processes of phosphate adsorption and desorption on coagulated/flocculated particles, along with particles settling. Numerical model parametrization relies on the results from the experiments.
