Opis:
The paper presents a complex analysis of the presence of various pollutants (CO2, CO, NO, NO2, CH4, TNMH, C6H6) in the vicinity of sites intended for open burning and open detonation of explosives. Previously obtained data (measured field data on a representative sample) regarding the emission factors of pollutants originating from different types of explosives have been used. To predict the atmospheric dispersion of reactive agents, the ADORA and ALOHA models were used. Comparative analysis was performed with computational and experimental data on the emission of detonation products using regression analysis of the obtained emission coefficients. The overall results show satisfactory values of correlation coefficients. The prediction power of used methods increased as follows: ADORA (the smallest error), ALOHA E/A (0.43) and ALOHA E/A 0.67.

Opis:
The study mainly delineates the application of AERMOD to evaluate PM10 concentrations for the selected opencast mines in The Jharia coalfield. AERMOD estimated PM10 concentration profiles were developed on the basis of evaluated emission rates of salient coal mining activities. While comparing these estimated values with monitored values of PM10, the evaluated indices of agreement were found to be 0.86, 0.84 and 0.88 during winter and 0.94, 0.68 and 0.87 during summer for the Katrasgarh, Muraidih and Rajapur opencast mines, respectively. In a like manner, performance evaluation of AERMOD evaluated concentrations over actual field concentration using a set of five statistical tools, indicated more or less fairly good prediction for both the seasons. Further, USEPA AP-42 based emission factor data for more or less identical mining activities were also used for AERMOD run in order to evaluate PM10 profiles. Correlation analysis indicated 71–89% and 62–85% model accuracy for winter and summer, respectively.

Opis:
An industrial planning is made based on the optimization model. Factor analysis was used to reject relativity among the environmental indicators. Then, thirty nine industries were clustered into four clusters. Lastly, optimization model was used to plan the industrial structure. Adjusting the industrial structure, it is difficult to reduce vast SO2, smoke, and dust with total industrial output value growth; the air pollutant emission only can be decreased by 10%. The parameters of smoke emission are limited constrains for the optimization. The reasonable and feasible way to solve the problem is to introduce the lower smoke emission technique of the cluster 2 and 4 industries.

Opis:
The concentration, chemical composition, and mass closure of various fractions of ambient particulate matter (PM) were analyzed at crossroads and at a highway in Katowice (Poland). It was shown that at both sites organic carbon can constitute even 57% of the fine PM mass, about 20% of the fine PM mass can originate from the photochemical transformations of inorganic gaseous precursors, and that the coarse PM was mainly the organic matter (up to 39%) and crustal matter (up to 24%). Traffic emissions in Katowice can affect the formation of secondary aerosol (organic and inorganic), the contributions to PM and ambient concentrations of soil matter, NaCl, and trace elements. At the highway, the greatest impact on the concentrations and chemical composition of fine particles was probably due to exhaust emissions. At the crossroads, in the center of the city, the non-exhaust traffic emissions probably affected the coarse PM.
