Opis:
The paper presents the development of R package for conjoint features: caFactorialDesign() function which allows to generate a complete or fractional factorial design and caEncodedDesign() function which allows to encode obtained experiments. The basis of both functions is the implementation of AlgDesign package functions in conjoint package. In the proposed solution, it is assumed that to obtain a relevant factorial design the number of variables and their levels with the names of variables should be enough.

Opis:
The study investigates the variation in population ageing in Polish provinces in 2002, 2010 and 2017. Population ageing was assessed using the median age, proportion of elderly people, double ageing index, ageing index, and old-age dependency ratio. The authors took into account causes that explain changes occurring at the bottom and at the top of the population pyramid. By applying the hybrid approach combining multidimensional scaling with linear ordering (the two-step approach), the authors identified differences in the level of population ageing in a two-dimensional space. The paper applies a new method of automatic data collection from the Local Data Bank using the BDL package and the API interface (Application Programming Interface). The BDL API is a data-sharing service through webservice defining programming interfaces independent of the programming language, whereas the bdl package using this API enables webservice integration with the R statistical environment, eliminating the need for manual data extraction and enabling the automation of recurring activities.

Opis:
Measurement of consumer preferences is one of the most important elements of marketing research. In the measurement of consumers’ preferences Maximum Difference Scaling method can be used, which was implemented in the module MaxDiff (Best-Worst Scaling) of Sawtooth Software. The aim of the article is to present the author’s MaxDiff package for the R program, which is one of the most important no-commercial programs offered under the GNU GPL licence with free access to the source code. The article presents some functions of the MaxDiff R package with the example of application of consumers’ preferences in empirical analysis.

Opis:
The main aim of the paper is to present selected features of TSprediction package developed for R environment, which now is one of the most important commercial computing platforms (offered under the GNU GPL license). The article presents the features of the TSprediction package enabling the prediction of time series where there is a periodic component in the form of seasonal fluctuations. The package includes an implementation of the most popular time series methods of forecasting with a periodic component in the additive and multiplicative variety of ratio and Winters and Klein methods. The effects of selected forecasting functions and ex-post forecasting errors of TSprediction R package are presented in the examples.

Opis:
Social cohesion is the ability of territorial communities to ensure the welfare of all its members, to reduce social stratification and avoid polarization (EU/EC/CE 2004, p. 3). The assessment of social cohesion of the Lower Silesia region in the cross-section of counties in the period 2005-2015, was performed based on the variables from the following areas: income and economic activity of the population, living conditions of the population and the availability of services and public space. Multidimensional scaling combined with linear ordering and Theil decomposition were applied to measure and assess changes in the level of social cohesion of the Lower Silesia region in the cross-section of counties in the period 2005-2015. The level of social cohesion of all the counties (although in varying de-grees) was increased and the degree of differentiation of social cohesion was slightly de-creased during this period. The calculations were made with scripts prepared in R environ-ment.

Opis:
Measurement of consumer preferences is one of the most important elements of marketing research. In the measurement of consumers’ preferences Maximum Difference Scaling can be used. In this method, a fractional factorial design is used as the experiment, where a limited set of profiles (product or service) is taken into account. The resignation of full factorial design, in which the number of profiles exceeds the ability of respondents to assess, means choosing one of many possible factorial designs. The aim of this article is to present the results of the measurement of consumers’ preferences based on different fractional factorial designs using Maximum Difference Scaling. The article presents the results of measurement of consumers’ preferences using asymmetric, symmetric and balanced factorial designs and the MaxDiff R package.
