- The Portrait of Professor Helena Siwek (edited by Lidia Zaręba)Publilcations by Professor Helena Siwek (edited by Janina Wiercioch)The year 2010 marks the 70-th anniversary of birthday of Professor Helena Siwek, a Polish Mathematics Education specialist who significantly contributed to the creation and promotion of this area of knowledge in Poland and abroad. As a student of professor Anna Zofia Krygowska, she has been continuing the work initiated by Krygowska through a substantial contribution to the development of the "Krakow School of Mathematics Education". A wide range of her research interests covers such fields as logic teaching, the recognition and development of mathematical abilities of children with a mild retardation, in particular the Action-based Mathematics Teaching, a concept created by A. Z. Krygowska. A considerable part of professor Helena Siwek's activity is connected with the reform of mathematical education in Poland.
