Opis:
There are several classes of decision-making problems that explicitly or implicitly prompt fractional programming problems. Portfolio selection problems, agricultural planning, information transfer, numerical analysis of stochastic processes, and resource allocation problems are just a few examples. The huge number of applications of minimax fractional programming problems inspired us to work on this topic. This paper is concerned with a nondifferentiable minimax fractional programming problem. We study a parametric dual model, corresponding to the primal problem, and derive the sufficient optimality condition for an optimal solution to the considered problem. Further, we obtain the various duality results under (p, r)-ρ-(η, θ)-invexity assumptions. Also, we identify a function lying exclusively in the class of (−1, 1)-ρ-(η, θ)- invex functions but not in the class of (1,−1)-invex functions and convex function already existing in the literature. We have given a non-trivial model of nondifferentiable minimax problem and obtained its optimal solution using optimality results derived in this paper.

We study optimal layout of piece-wise periodic structures of linearly elastic materials. The effective tensors of these structures are constant within pre-specified regions, the optimality is understood as the minimum of complementary energy. The suggested formulation leads to a construction that is stable under variation of the loading and which does not degenerates into checkerboard type structures. We derive necessary conditions of optimality of such layouts and analyse them. Numerically, we fins optimal structures for a number of examples, which are analyzed.

For sorne heuristic approaches to boundary variation in shape optimization the computation of second derivatives of domain and boundary integral functionals, their symmetry and a comparison to the velocity field or material derivative method are discussed. Moreover, for these approaches the functionals are Frechet-differentiable in some sense, because at least a local embedding into a Banach space problem is possible. This allows the discussion of sufficient condition in terms of a coercivity assumption on the second Frechet-derivative. The theory is illustrated by a discussion of the famous Dido problem.

A monetary-fiscal game describing the interactions of the fiscal and monetary authorities is formulated and analyzed. A macroeconomic model for the Polish economy has been formulated on the basis of the concept of New Neoclassical Synthesis and respectively extended so as to accommodate the effects of fiscal policy. Several variants of the model have been estimated using statistical data for the Polish economy. It is assumed in the game that each party (monetary and fiscal) tries to achieve its own goal: the fiscal authority – the assumed GDP growth, and the monetary authority – an inflation level. The best response strategies of the authorities and the Nash equilibria are calculated and analyzed in two cases, namely when the decisions are made simultaneously and sequentially. The simulation results obtained indicate that when the authorities try to achieve independently their goals, in a general case the Nash equilibrium is not Pareto optimal. The best response strategies may lead to conflict escalation and to results which are not beneficial for both parties.

This paper improves the results of and gives shorter proofs for the analysis of state constrained optimal control problems than presented by the authors in Bonnans and Hermant (2009b), concerning second order optimality conditions and the well-posedness of the shooting algorithm. The hypothesis for the second order necessary conditions is weaker, and the main results are obtained without reduction to the normal form used in that reference, and without analysis of high order regularity results for the control. In addition, we provide some numerical illustration. The essential tool is the use of the "alternative optimality system".

We discuss a regularization of state-constrained optimal control problems via a Henig relaxation of ordering cones. Considering a state-constrained optimal control problem, the pointwise state constraint is replaced by an inequality condition involving a so-called Henig dilating cone. It is shown that this class of cones provides a reasonable solid approximation of the typically nonsolid ordering cones which correspond to pointwise state constraints. Thereby, constraint qualifications, which are based on the existence of interior points, can be applied to given problems. Moreover, we characterize admissibility and solvability of the original problem by analyzing the associated relaxed problem. We also show that the optimality system for the original problem can be obtained through the limit passage in the corresponding optimality system for the relaxed problem. As an example of our approach, we derive the optimality conditions for a state constrained Neumann boundary optimal control problem and show that in this case the corresponding Lagrange multipliers are more regular than Borel measures.

Opis:
In this paper, we give an overview of results for Cahn–Hilliard systems involving fractional operators that have recently been established by the authors of this note. We address problems concerning existence, uniqueness, and regularity of the solutions to the system equations, and we study optimal control problems for the systems. The well-posedness results are valid for a wide class of fractional operators of spectral type and for the typical double-well nonlinearities appearing in the Cahn–Hilliard system equations, namely the classical differentiable, the logarithmic, and the nondifferentiable double obstacle potentials. While this also applies to the existence of optimal controls in the related optimal control problems, the establishment of first-order necessary optimality conditions requires imposing much stronger assumptions on the admissible class of fractional operators. One main reason for this is the necessity of deriving suitable differentiability properties for the associated control-to-state mapping. Nevertheless, it turns out that also in the singular case of logarithmic potentials, the first-order necessary optimality conditions can be established under suitable assumptions, and a “deep quench” approximation, based on the results derived for logarithmic nonlinearities makes even the case of double obstacle potentials accessible.

Opis:
This paper primarily concerns the study of general classes of constrained multiobjective optimization problems (including those described via set-valued and vector-valued cost mappings) from the viewpoint of modern variational analysis and generalized differentiation. To proceed, we first establish two variational principles for set-valued mappings, which-being certainly of independent interest-are mainly motivated by applications to multiobjective optimization problems considered in this paper. The first variational principle is a set-valued counterpart of the seminal derivative-free Ekeland variational principle, while the second one is a set-valued extension of the subdifferential principle by Mordukhovich and Wang, formulated via an appropriate subdifferential notion for set-valued mappings with values in partially ordered spaces. Based on these variational principles and corresponding tools of generalized differentiation, we derive new conditions of the coercivity and Palais-Smale types ensuring the existence of optimal solutions to set-valued optimization problems with noncompact feasible sets in infinite dimensions and then obtain necessary optimality and suboptimality conditions for nonsmooth multiobjective optimization problems with general constraints, which are new in both finite-dimensional and infinite-dimensional settings.

We obtain existence and uniqueness of the optimal controls, the first order optimality conditions in terms of the adjoint state and the convergence of the optimal controls, the system state and the adjoint state when the heat transfer coefficient α goes to infinity. Furthermore, we formulate particular boundary optimal control problems on a real parameter λ, in relation to the parabolic problems S and Sαα

Sufficient optimality conditions are then obtained through first-order strong approximations of data set-valued mappings.

The study here presented pertains to the analysis of mutual interactions of the monetary and fiscal policies in the case of Poland. The historical policies carried out during different periods of time and their economic effects are compared with the possible strategies, obtained from the analysis of the proposed monetaryfiscal game. In the study, the methods of non-cooperative game theory are combined with macroeconomic modeling. The respective game is formulated for monetary and fiscal authorities as players. Strategies of these players refer to the respective instruments of their policies: the real interest rate and the budget deficit in relation to GDP. Payoffs include inflation and GDP growth, respectively. The payoffs are calculated using a recursive macroeconomic model estimated for the Polish economy. The model describes influences of the instruments of the monetary and fiscal policies on the state of the economy. The best response strategies, the Nash equilibria and Pareto optimality are analyzed. Changes of the policies towards the more restrictive or more expansive ones and their effects in comparison to the historically applied are discussed. This is performed for two different time periods – the time of recovery after 2004 and the time of the global financial crisis after 2008.
