Opis:
It is proved that many known convergences (e.g., continuous convergence, Isbell topology, compact-open topology, point-wise convergence) on the space of continuous maps (valued in a topological space) can be represented as the dual convergences with respect to collections of families of sets, and that they can be characterized in terms of the corresponding hyperspace convergences of the inverse images of closed sets. As a result, the convergence of real-valued functions for a dual convergence implies the convergence of their sets of minima on the corresponding hyperspace.

Opis:
The paper deals with the problem of determining Hurwitz stability of a ball of polynomials defined by a weighted lp norm in the coefficient space where p is an arbitrary positive integer including infinity. The solution of the case when the weights are supposed to be the same for coefficient being above and below its nominal value corresponding to symmetric ball has been given by Tsypkin and Polyak. However, sometimes it seems to be useful to have a possibility to consider these weights as different, resulting in the asymmetric ball. This is, for example, the situation where the weights express our level of confidence that the real value of a coefficient lies in some interval. Such approach is used if the value of a coefficient is estimated by an expert. Solution of the problem is based on frequency domain plot in the complex plane and on applying the Zero Exclusion Theorem. The main idea consists in separation of the original problem into four subproblems and using an appropriate coordinate transformation which makes the value set independent of frequency. This transformation makes it possible to move the relative value set into the origin of the complex plane and to easily formulate the necessary and sufficient condition of Hurwitz stability of asymmetric ball of polynomials with prescribed radius or determine the maximum radius preserving stability. The whole graphical procedure consists of four plots instead of one, needed in the symmetric case.

The positive realization problem for a class of singular continuous-time linear SISO systems with delays in state and in output is addressed. The notions of canonical forms of matrices and of dual systems are extended for singular linear systems with delays. Necessary and sufficient conditions for positivity of SISO singular continuous-time systems with delays and sufficient conditions for the existence of a positive singular realization are established. A procedure for computation of a positive singular realization of a given transfer function is proposed and illustrated by a numerical example.

Opis:
We consider the Moore-Gibson-Thompson equation which arises, e.g., as a linearization of a model for wave propagation in viscous thermally relaxing fluids. This third order in time equation displays, even in the linear version, a variety of dynamical behaviors for their solutions that depend on the physical parameters in the equation. These range from non-existence and instability to exponential stability (in time). It will be shown that by neglecting diffusivity of the sound coefficient there arises a lack of existence of a semigroup associated with the linear dynamics. More specifically, the corresponding linear dynamics consists of three diffusions: two backward and one forward. When diffusivity of the sound is positive, the linear dynamics is described by a strongly continuous semigroup which is exponentially stable when the ratio of sound speed×relaxation parameter/ sound diffusivity is sufficiently small, and unstable in the complementary regime. The theoretical estimates proved in the paper are confirmed by numerical validation.

Opis:
This paper presents a feasible design for a con- trol algorithm to synthesize an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system-based PID continuous sliding mode control system (ANFIS- PIDCSMC) for adaptive trajectory tracking control of the rigid robot manipulators (RRMs) in the joint space. First, a PID sliding mode control algorithm with sliding surface dynamics-based continuous proportional-integral (PI) control action (PIDSMC-SSDCPI) is presented. The global stability conditions are formulated in terms of Lyapunov full quadratic form such that the robot system output can track the desired reference output. Second, to increase the control system robustness, the PI control action in the PIDSMC- SSDCPI controller is supplanted by an ANFIS control signal to provide a control approach that can be termed adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system-based PID continuous sliding mode control system (ANFIS-PIDCSMC). For the proposed control algorithm, numerical simulations using the dynamic model of RRM with uncertainties and external disturbances show high quality and effectiveness of the adopted control approach in high-speed trajectory tracking control problems. The simulation results that are compared with the results, obtained for the traditional controllers (standalone PID and traditional sliding mode controller (TSMC)), illustrate the fact that the tracking control behavior of the robot system achieves acceptable tracking performance.

Opis:
It is generally unknown how to formally determine whether different neural networks have a similar behaviour. This question intimately relates to the problem of finding a suitable similarity measure to identify bounds on the input-output response distances of neural networks, which has several interesting theoretical and computational implications. For example, it can allow one to speed up the learning processes by restricting the network parameter space, or to test the robustness of a network with respect to parameter variation. In this paper we develop a procedure that allows for comparing neural structures among them. In particular, we consider dynamic networks composed of neural units, characterised by non-linear differential equations, described in terms of autonomous continuous dynamic systems. The comparison is established by importing and adapting from the formal verification setting the concept of δ−approximate bisimulations techniques for non-linear systems. We have positively tested the proposed approach over continuous time recurrent neural networks (CTRNNs).

Opis:
The continuous auditing technology assures integrity of accounting systems and consequently improves the decision-making process of the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that implement it. Considering that SMEs located in developing countries function within a more risk prone environment and do not have resources to implement all layers of customized corporate functions in information systems, one argues for their reliance on the features of low complexity of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software to benefit from continuous auditing (CA). The purpose of this study is to relate the understanding of the CA demands and low complexity ERP systems’ technical functionalities in SMEs. Thus, to fulfill this objective, a conceptual model has been drawn to integrate the key concepts related to CA. Four pillars are the core of this model, namely: segregation of duties (SoD) with role-based access control centered on process-based approach (PBA); internal checkpoints; audit trails; and the level of integration of the continuous auditing software. This model was validated through the benchmarking of the implementation of the pillars in three cases of low complexity ERP systems adopted by SMEs in a developing country. The benchmarking/results of the study show significant differences between operational mechanisms of the three ERP software. Namely, the role-based access control exists in the two of the ERP LC but not in the Brazilian one. Also, there is no check-point in the Brazilian ERP LC and it does not integrate with continuous audit features. This study distinguishes between the low complexity ERP’s functionalities and the features of a more complex environment, thus bringing an important contribution to the study of low complexity ERP’s readiness for continuous monitoring in SME’s internal auditing processes.

It is also shown that any minimal GDQ of K at (to,yo) is a subset of the contingent derivative of K at (to,yo), evaluated at 1. Then this fact is used to prove a viability theorem that asserts existence of a solution to the initial value problem y(t) ∈ F(t, y(t)), with y(to) =yo, where F : Gr(K) → Rn is an orientor field (i.e. multivalued vector field) defined only on the graph of K and K : T → Rn is a time-varying constraint multifunction. One of the assumptions is GDQ differentiability of K.

Opis:
Traditional time series forecasting models, like ARIMA and regression models, can hardly capture nonlinear patterns. Support vector regression (SVR), a novel neural network technique, has been successfully used to solve nonlinear regression and time series problems. The SVR model applies the structural risk minimization principle to minimize the upper bound of the generalization error, instead of minimizing the training error, employed by most conventional neural network models. Thus, parameter determination for an SVR model is appropriate for achieving high forecasting accuracy. Several evolutionary algorithms, such as genetic algorithms and simulated annealing algorithms have been used in parameter selection, but these algorithms often suffer from the possibility of being trapped in local optimum. This study used an improved ant colony optimization algorithm in an SVR model, called SVRCACO, for selecting suitable parameters, with encouraging local search in areas where forecasting accuracy improvement continues to be made, then, autocatalytically converge to promising regions. Numerical examples of exchange rate forecasting from the existing literature are employed to assess the performance of the proposed model. Experimental results show that the proposed model outperforms other approaches from the literature.
