    The article analyzes selected literary motifs of Psalm 77, which were used by Origen to formulate more-than-literal interpretations. The methodology of research on the processes of creating allegorical and symbolic associations has been applied to the following literary motifs: the separation of the waters of the Red Sea, the cloud and the pillar of fire leading the Israelites through the wilderness, water from a rock, and manna from heaven.
    W artykule przeanalizowano wybrane motywy literackie Psalmu 77 (78), które posłużyły Orygenesowi do sformułowania interpretacji ponaddosłownych. Metodologię badań nad procesami tworzenia skojarzeń alegoryczno-symbolicznych zastosowano w odniesieniu do następujących motywów literackich: rozdzielenie wód Morza Czerwonego, obłok i słup ognia prowadzący Izraelitów przez pustynię, woda ze skały oraz manna z nieba.

    Opis:
    A recently discovered collection of 29 Origen’s homilies on the Psalms was published in 2015. Origen delivered them in the last years of his life. We find there speculations on the borderline between philosophy and theology, which Origen never abandoned. Do they not violate the canon of homilies? Are they not dominated by a theoretical, intellectual factor? To answer these questions, the author poses a broader question in his article, namely, about the nature of communication with listeners. Did Origen, as a homilist, appeal in an integral and balanced way to all human faculties: reason, imagination, will, feelings and senses? The article has a character of a survey of the issue, since four homilies to Ps 76(77) are the subject of its analysis.
    W 2015 r. został wydany niedawno odkryty zbiór 29 homilii Orygenesa do Psalmów. Orygenes wygłosił je w ostatnich latach swego życia. Natykamy się w nich na spekulacje z pogranicza filozofii i teologii, z których Orygenes nigdy nie zrezygnował. Czy nie naruszają one kanonu homilii? Czy nie dominuje w nich czynnik teoretyczny, intelektualny? Żeby odpowiedzieć na te pytania, autor porusza w artykule szerszą kwestię – charakteru komunikacji ze słuchaczem. Czy Orygenes jako homilista odwoływał się w sposób integralny i zrównoważony do wszystkich władz w człowieku: rozumu, wyobraźni, woli, uczuć i zmysłów? Artykuł ma charakter sondażu zagadnienia, ponieważ przedmiotem jego analizy są cztery homilie do Ps 76(77).

    The collection of Origen’s presumably last works, the 29 homilies on the Psalms, was recently discovered and published in 2015. In the homily on Psa 76:1-9, we can find threads of the theology of spirituality intertwined with more systematic speculations. The sanctifying action of the Logos comes here to the fore. God-Logos enables the Christian to sacrifice himself fully with his mind, tongue and all his senses. The Word, which has been living for ages in the womb of the Father, educates the human word, liable to agitation, to silence. Origen looks for a cure in afflictions. He finds it in the image of hands outstretched to God and in constant reminding of Him. The Psalmist ponders “the ancient days” and “the eonic years” and asks if God can reject man forever (Psa 76:6–8). In his commentary, Origen seems to refer to his speculations from much earlier years, known from the work On First Principles, in which he expressed views on the preexistence of rational beings, preceding the present world, and the multiple transformation of worlds. Are these speculative threads still present in his last work? The article tries to explain Origen’s statements and understand them properly.
    Zbiór niedawno odkrytych i wydanych w 2015 r. dwudziestu dziewięciu homilii Orygenesa do Psalmów, to prawdopodobnie, jak wykazuje L. Perrone, ostatnie jego dzieło. Homilie stały się przedmiotem analizy pod kątem formalnym: języka, okoliczności napisania, aluzji historycznych etc. Przychodzi czas na zgłębianie ich treści teologicznych. W homilii do Ps 76, 1–9 przeplatają się wątki z zakresu duchowości i pewne spekulacje. Na pierwszy plan wysuwa się uświęcające działanie Logosu. Bóg–Słowo uzdalnia chrześcijanina do pełnej ofiary z samego siebie, swego umysłu, języka i wszystkich zmysłów. Przebywające od wieków w łonie Ojca Słowo wychowuje do milczenia ludzkie słowo, podatne na wzburzenie. Kaznodzieja szuka lekarstwa na utrapienia w wyciągniętych rękach do Boga i w ciągłym przypominaniu o Nim sobie. Psalmista rozważa „dni dawne” i „lata wieczne” oraz pyta, czy Bóg może odrzucić na wieki (Ps 76, 6–8). W komentarzu do Psalmów zdaje się nawiązywać do swoich spekulacji z dużo wcześniejszych lat, znanych z dzieła O zasadach. Wyrażał tam poglądy o preegzystencji bytów rozumnych, poprzedzającej obecny świat, i wielokrotnej transformacji światów, po których nastąpi powrót wszystkiego do Boga. Czy te wątki spekulacyjne są obecne w ostatnim jego dziele? Czy poglądy Orygenesa zmieniły się? Autor artykułu stara się wniknąć w dość zdawkowe wypowiedzi kaznodziei i właściwie je zrozumieć.

    Psalm 37 uchodzi za zbiór sentencji mądrościowych, przypominający Księgę Przysłów. Szczegółowa analiza tego Psalmu prowadzi do wniosku, że jest on kunsztowną kompozycją (pomijając drobne redakcyjne uzupełnienie) i jako taki powinien być interpretowany. Rzeczowo przynależy on do Psałterza (umieszczony w końcowej części pierwszego Psałterza Dawidowego), gdyż z naciskiem wzywa odbiorcę do pokładania ufności w Bogu, który ocala sprawiedliwego, a niegodziwego przywodzi do zagłady. Jest znacznie bardziej niż zbiory z Księgi Przysłów naznaczony religijnie i liturgicznie.
    Psalm 37 comes across as a collection of wisdom sentences reminiscent of the Book of Proverbs. A detailed analysis of this Psalm leads to the conclusion that it is an elaborate composition (aside from minor editorial additions) and should be interpreted as such. Substantively, it belongs to the Psalter (placed in the concluding section of the first Davidic Psalter), for it emphatically urges the recipient to put his trust in the God who saves the righteous and brings the wicked to destruction. It is religiously and liturgically marked much more than the collections from the Book of Proverbs.

    The sapiential Psalm 1 contains a teaching on the two paths of the humanlife and the consequences of our choices. It contrasts the just man who is“happy” (v. 1) with the villains who are “lost” (v. 6). According to the psalmistthe man is fulfilled when he radically avoids the ways of the wickedand “delights in the Divine Precepts” which they “meditate tirelessly” (v. 2).The notion of the Law refers here to the books of the Bible – that is thewritten Word of God which the lives of the just are imbibed in and whichserves as the moral compass. God, in response to such a devoted attitude,watches over the life of the righteous and provides for his needs. Psalm 1serves as an encouragement to read the Bible and to meditate upon the willof God which is found on its pages. This is the way to achieve the ultimatehappiness which the man can be experienced in the intimate union withGod both on Earth and in the World to come.
