Opis:
In a holistic look at the history of Israel and the Church, Evangelist Matthewseems to express the hope that taken by him idea of “Rest”, proves tobe a kind of bridge for the followers of rabbinic Judaism. He also trusts thatin the eschatological times – finally closed by the Second Coming of the Sonof Man – they profess, at least some of them, faith in Jesus from Nazarethas the Messiah and Son of God at the same time. Faith confessed by themwill allow to enter into the Church and obtain the same equal rights as otherparticipants of that idea in the following centuries of the God’s salvationhistory, in which the chosen people of Abraham will be able to participateas the only nation from the beginning until the definite its completion, withonly a short break discontinued, however, by conversion and return to GodYahweh – the Father of Jesus.

Opis:
The essential Christological and soteriological message of the Letterof St. Paul to the Romans precedes with the reflection on the biblical ideaof the retributive justice of God. He does not do it to humiliate Jews andGentiles because of the sin in which they lapsed, or to make them aware oftheir equally hopeless situation before God, or even to force them to humiliatethemselves in grief and repentance before God the Judge. He wants toexplain to the addressees of the letter why God intended to justify them alltogether in the same way, without taking into account the primacy of theprivilege of the Jews, nor the permanent godlessness of the Gentiles. Bothwere simply sinners, which caused them to find themselves in the samesituation with respect to the righteousness of God’s judgment and punishment. Therefore, all without exception, as sinners both Jewish and pagan, will attain justification in the same way, namely by faith in Jesus Christ.

Opis:
The author shows how Paul creates the image of the righteous Apostlereferring to arguments and witnesses in order to authenticate the self-portraitfound in Rom 9,1-5 as well as the credibility of the arguments submitted;this is so also in section Rom 9,6–11,36. Paul carefully planned the rhetoricalstrategy and strengthened the arguments competently, as well as theauthority and credibility of the witnesses cited. In the adopted rhetoric andtheological strategy, he refers three times to the biblical legal tradition of theneed to appoint two or three witnesses. He thus built the triple sequence ofthe next three testimonies: 1. “I say the truth in Christ”; 2. “I’m not lying;3. “My conscience in the Holy Spirit testifies to my conscience.” Then he presented three witnesses with the highest authority and credibility: 1. Godin Christ; 2. The conscience of the Apostle; 3. The Holy Spirit. Throughoutthe section, the quoted texts are cited from three great biblical traditions:1. legal; 2. prophetic; 3. sapiential. Therefore, the Apostle consistently presented the maximum number of witnesses (three), additionally multipliedby three autonomous circles.

Opis:
Exegetical analysis of propositio 12,1-2 and its rhetorical contextallows us to conclude that the overriding message is an encouragementto render “a reasonable service to God”. According to Paul, itrelies on the constant and absolute faithfulness of his will to sacrifice“himself” (sōma) in “a living, sacred and pleasant sacrifice”, that is, to the measure of the sinful humanity of mercy in the salvific workof Jesus; “according to the faith received from God” (12,3). For theApostle, the constantly “renewed mind with the Gospel” and thepower of the Holy Spirit is an absolute condition to fully know God’swill, “transform oneself” (sōma) and save it redemptive effectivelythrough God’s “goodness, perfection and love”. It is obvious to himthat only a man implanted in Christ through the Gospel, baptismand the Holy Spirit becomes his “image” also in the way of thinking(the mind), therefore he is able to constantly re-explore the sense of“reasonable service” to finally find out that it is “evangelical service”in the power of the Holy Spirit, modeled on Jesus himself. This isthe only rationally mature (according to the wisdom and justice ofGod) and worth of a “new creature” (Christian) the answer to Godfor the work of salvation made in Christ, who sacrificed himself toGod in the Passover as a sacrifice of the “good, perfect, living holyand the kind”.
