    The subject of the article are catalogues and inventories of Count Zygmunt Pusłowski’s book collections, which belong to the Pusłowski family archive of manuscripts, now preserved in the Jagiellonian Library. It attempts to outline the profile of their creator as as well as of members of the Czarków line of Puslowski family, beginning from Wojciech and Józefa née Drucka‑L ubecka. The current condition of the inventories, which are arranged into five units (BJ AP, Przyb. 594/99–598/99), is reviewed. Applying statistical analysis, the overall number of inventories in each unit is compared with the number of descriptions in each inventory and the total number of volumes, while taking account of the description elements, their numbering, and existing notes. Furthermore, the paper brings up a more general issue of using library inventories as historical sources for investigating readership, material culture, and bibliophily. In the conclusions, a number of methodological errors in the studies of inventories that have been made to date are indicated and a proper method for studying the book collection of Zygmunt Pusłowski is suggested.

    Opis:
    The conservation work connected with the shifting of the Camaldolese library from the Bielany monastery to the stacks of the Jagiellonian Library included: - The overview of the books and the evaluation of the state of preservation of the collection (conservation stocktaking), - Preservation involving the removal of dust and microorganisms from the bindings of the books as well as from single pages, - The desinfection of the collection, - The preparation of the books for transport. One of the conservation problems that emerged during the execution of the project concerned the difference between the climatic conditions in the place where the books had remained so far and those in the stacks of the Jagiellonian Library. Another issue concerned the increased humidity level of the books. However, the most severe damage was caused by the attacks of insects which had fed on the books. In the situation where the majority of the books had been cleaned and dried but the question of moving them to the Jagiellonian Library still remained uncertain, it was decided that they should be cleansed of insects with carbon dioxide within the walls of the monastery. Especially for this purpose, a special system of “baloon chambers” was invented, all of which were made of PVC membranes. A separate issue of the project involved the preparation of the books for transport. The digital system of registering single volumes, developed in cooperation with the Jagiellonian Library, which allowed to identify particular books at every stage of the work (initial cleaning, inventory control, transport, desinfection, cataloguing etc.), provided an interesting solution to this problem. The last stage of the work consisted in the prevention and conservation of a collection of 23 volumes. The aim of this work was to invent methods of conservation that would cover the most frequent kinds of damages in the Camaldolese collection. The purpose of the project described above was to allow further preservation and safe cataloguing of the Camaldolese book collection in the Jagiellonian Library.
    Prace konserwatorskie przy przenosinach biblioteki kamedulskiej z klasztoru na Bielanach do magazynów Biblioteki Jagiellońskiej obejmowały: – przegląd książek i ocenę stanu zachowania zbioru (inwentaryzacja konserwatorska), – konserwację zachowawczą obejmującą oczyszczenie z kurzu i nalotów drobnoustrojów opraw książek oraz poszczególnych kart, – dezynfekcję zbioru, – przygotowanie księgozbioru do transportu. Jednym z zagadnień konserwatorskich napotkanych podczas realizacji projektu były zasadniczo różne warunki klimatyczne panujące w bibliotece, w której księgozbiór przechowywany był dotychczas, a w docelowym magazynie Biblioteki Jagiellońskiej. Osobnym problemem była również podwyższona wilgotność książek. Silny atak owadów żerujących w książkach był głównym zniszczeniem kamedulskiego księgozbioru. W sytuacji gdy większość książek poddana została oczyszczeniu oraz osuszeniu, a transport księgozbioru do Biblioteki Jagiellońskiej stał pod znakiem zapytania, zadecydowano o dezynsekcji zbioru na terenie klasztoru przy użyciu dwutlenku węgla. W tym celu opracowany został system „komór-balonów” wykonanych z membrany PCV. Przygotowywanie książek do transportu stanowiło osobne zagadnienie projektu. Ciekawym rozwiązaniem podjętym podczas współpracy z Biblioteką Jagiellońską był elektroniczny system rejestracji woluminów, umożliwiający identyfikację książki na każdym etapie prac (wstępne oczyszczanie, inwentaryzacja, transport, dezynfekcja, opracowanie itd.). Ostatnim etapem prac była konserwacja profilaktyczno-zachowawcza zbioru 23 woluminów. Prace te miały na celu opracowanie metod konserwacji dla typowych zniszczeń występujących w kamedulskim księgozbiorze. Wszystkie przedsięwzięte i opisane powyżej zabiegi miały na celu umożliwienie dalszego bezpiecznego opracowywania oraz przechowywania księgozbioru kamedulskiego w Bibliotece Jagiellońskiej.

    Przedmiotem pracy jest rękopiśmienny inwentarz księgozbioru Wiktorii z Scheillów Wendorffowej, wykonany na podstawie zapisu testamentowego. Stanowi on przykład spisu XIX-wiecznej biblioteczki ziemiańskiej, który znajduje się w aktach notarialnych. Dokonano rekonstrukcji spisu 222 książek oraz poddano go krótkiej analizie. Zapisy z rękopisu uzupełniono opisami bibliograficznymi poszczególnych odnalezionych pozycji; składają się one z następujących elementów: autor, tytuł, miejsce oraz rok wydania, opcjonalnie dostęp online. Dzięki rekonstrukcji wysunięto wnioski na temat wielkości i wyceny biblioteczki oraz tematyki książek. Pozwoliło to snuć refleksję nad przydatnością pośmiertnych inwentarzy księgozbioru w badaniach bibliologicznych.
    This article concerns the manuscript inventory of the book collection of Wiktoria z Scheillów Wendorffowa, which was written according to an extant will. It is an example of the inventory of a nineteenth-century library belonging to a Polish landed gentry family and which is to be found together with other notarial deeds. The list of 222 books has been reconstructed and has briefly analysed. The entries in the manuscripts have been completed with the bibliographical descriptions of particular recovered items and consist of the following elements: author, title, place and year of publication, access online (optional). This reconstruction has led to conclusions concerning both the size and value of the library as well as the subjects of the books. It also allows us to reflect on how useful posthumous inventories of private libraries are for bibliological research.

    This article is a reworked and extended version of the author’s paper presented at the conference “The book collection of the Camaldolese monastery of Bielany, now in the Jagiellonian Library”, held in Kraków in February 2013. The article provides an overview of the characteristics of the Bielany library, with a brief glimpse into the history of that collection, some references to the previous owners of the books, and basic information about the contents of the library. It also shows how the book collection was catalogued and is now available via the web interface of the library catalogue.

    Przedmiotem artykułu jest nowo odkryty druk pochodzący z księgozbioru króla Zygmunta Augusta, obecnie przechowywany w kolekcji oo. karmelitów trzewiczkowych na Piasku w Krakowie. Księga zawiera teksty prawnicze opublikowane w połowie XVI wieku i była niegdyś częścią obszernej królewskiej kolekcji dzieł prawniczych, zwłaszcza ksiąg poświęconych odradzającemu się prawu rzymskiemu. Zbiór cechowała przede wszystkim wszechstronność, wielojęzyczność oraz różnorodność tematyczna, co świadczy o jego renesansowym charakterze i europejskim wymiarze. Po śmierci króla w roku 1572 jego księgozbiór uległ rozproszeniu. Część kolekcji znalazła się u karmelitów trzewiczkowych w Krakowie, choć nie bezpośrednio. Omawiana księga należała najpierw do Wojciecha Perlickiego (zmarł w 1607 roku), potem do kapituły katedralnej we Lwowie, następnie do karmelitów trzewiczkowych we Lwowie, a po II wojnie światowej znalazła się w klasztorze karmelitów trzewiczkowych w Krakowie.
    The subject of the article is a recently discovered printed book from the library of the King Sigismund II Augustus, currently preserved in the monastery of Carmelites of the Ancient Observance in Kraków. The book contains legal texts published in the middle of the 16th century, and was once part of a large collection of legal works belonging to the King, especially books devoted to the revived Roman law. The collection had a comprehensive character, involving multiple languages and wide range of subjects, which proved its Renaissance character as well as its European dimension. After the King’s death in 1572, his library was dispersed. The book in question belonged first to Wojciech Perlicki, who died in 1607, then to the Cathedral Chapter in Lviv, next to the Carmelites of the Ancient Observance in Lviv, and only after the Second World War it found itself in the Carmelites’ monastery in Krakow.
