- The paper analyses contemporary Polish intelligence and security services as an important subject of research for political scientists. Multidisciplinary approach to the problem, combining history, law, social and political science can be very valuable in assessing the theory and practice of modern security services in the Polish democracy. It is being proposed to draw much more attention to the subject, as it is the case in Western Europe and in the US. Furthermore, the author attempts to outline some of the most important issues the contemporary Polish political system is facing when it comes to intelligence, law enforcement national security. Key problems being the lack of impartiality and an instrumental attitude of Poland’s elites to security agencies. Author also suggests a change in managing intelligence to make it more effective, professional and open to the public.
