Opis:
The Polish people belong to one of the most dispersed nations in the world. The socalled emigration ethos characterized Poland after the year 1918. It resulted from their profound historical experiences. In the years 1860–1990, 18.8 million people emigrated from the Polish land. The reasons, which led them to undertake such a decision, varied a lot. Nevertheless, the martyr Diasporas and the labour Diasporas can be distinguished among the Polish society which emigrated and could be found overseas. In this situation we should not be surprised that the Polish people, who made their home abroad, were of great interest to the party of the People’s Republic of Poland. The key role in the realization of this political course was played by “Polonia”, a society which was created in 1955 in Warsaw. It carried out only executive tasks, which was a cover to the true decisive centers. The first programmed documents relating to the policy towards the Polish Diaspora appeared in People’s Republic of Poland in the 70ties. The actions towards Polish Diaspora focused on dissemination of various editorial forms beginning from the press ongoing to brochures, calendars and books. Moreover, Polish schooling abroad was supported on it merits as well as financially. The young people were encouraged to study in Poland by various ways of financial help. The tourism to Poland was also promoted. The addressees of the offers were the cooperating Polish Diaspora organizations. All these actions were undertaken to create a modern and rich impression of Poland.
