- The wave of protests after signing the ACTA (Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement) by the Polish Government shows the real meaning of the effective or not effective information policy. Results of the research conducted among polish students presents that in fact the discussion about ACTA did not have to raise dissatisfaction and conflict atmosphere in the society. Most of the young people, who were the main voice against the ACTA, wanted to know some offical statements about the ACTA but also wanted to take part in the national debate. That shows there were a place for the Polish Government to start the dialog and run the open information policy to the ACTA’s opponents. It is said dialog is not enough to persuade someone into our mind. Nevertheless, the Polish Government’s main purpose should not be to push the bill whatever the price is, but to reach the compromise. Even if the Government had failed to persuade the ACTA’s opponents, the signing of the document would have met less barriers. In fact this barries negatively impacts on the Polish Government reputation.
