Opis:
In many real situations like in tunnels, forests and in urban canyons GPS position calculation became impossible or not accurate enough. The solution of the problem is to integrate Global Positioning System with Inertial Navigation System. In such a solution it is possible to determine object position with temporary disappearance of GPS signals and improve precision. The paper presents an idea of data integration from two navigation sensors (subsystems). The aim of such an approach is to improve estimation precision of vehicle position and ensure autonomy of the system. System consists of two positioning subsystems: Dead Reckoning (DR) and Global Positioning System. Sensors fusion is realize by 32-bit microprocessor with ARM architecture and interfaces circuits. DR/GPS algorithm was implemented in 32-bit microprocessor with ARM SAM7S core.

Opis:
The main thesis: We assume that the unavailability of GPS information in certain time intervals will be compensated by the implementation of the mathematical model, which will process the aircraft co-ordinates on the basis of the last received position. The study has been divided into four chapters aiming at and presenting the solutions of the above mentioned research problems: Chapter 1 - "Review of the Literature". The analysis also concerned mathematical models designed to supplement GPS satellite navigation system. Chapter 2, "En-route Flights - Aircraft Position Accuracy Assessment", comprises the analysis of author's flight experiments, carried out between 1999 and 2003. Chapter 3, "Approach and Landing Phase - Aircraft Position Accuracy Assessment", tackles the problem of aircraft landing accuracy in flight experiments, which compared the accuracy of landings using the Air Traffic Control Radar Landing System (RALS) with GPS-assisted landings. Chapter 4, "Navigating By Means of a Navigation Potential In Space", proposes a new solution being a development of Vanicek's theory [Benlin Xu, Vanicek P. 2000] by expanding it into the third dimension. The presented mathematical model fills the gap in determining aircraft position in the instance of the lack of navigation information. Knowing the position is of vital importance on the glide path, when the accident risk is very high in adverse weather conditions.

Opis:
The article presents the results of the aircraft Cessna 172 positioning based on navigation solutions in the GPS and EGNOS (SBAS) tracking mode. The article makes a comparison of coordinate readings of the Cessna 172 in the ellipsoidal BLh frame. The verification of the coordinates of the aircraft Cessna 172 was used to assess the reliability of the GNSS satellite technique in aviation. In a research test, the navigation data were recorded by the onboard receiver Thales Mobile Mapper during an air test performed over the military aerodrome EPDE in Dęblin. Judging by the conducted investigations, it is possible to conclude that the difference in BLh coordinates of the aircraft Cessna 172 on the basis of the GPS solution and EGNOS (SBAS) solution equals, respectively: from -0.5 m to +3 m for component B; and from -2 m to +6 m for component L; from approximately -11 m to over +1 m for component h. In addition, the paper defines factors of dilution of precision PDOP, based on the GPS and EGNOS (SBAS) solutions. The average value of the PDOP coefficient for a solution in the tracking GPS mode was 2.7, whereas in the EGNOS (SBAS) tracking mode, it was equal to 2.8.

SPP method
positioning accuracy
air navigation
Opis:
Single Point Positioning (SPP) method is widely used in air, marine, and land navigation to determine the user’s position in real time and post factum. A typical accuracy for this method of determining the user’s position in the static mode is approximately 10 meters. In air operations, the SPP method accuracy can be several times lower and that may cause problems with precise positioning of an aircraft. The authors of this article presented preliminary results of research concerning aircraft positioning in the kinematic mode based on GPS observations. For this purpose, an in-flight experiment, in which a Cessna 172 aircraft was used, was performed at the airport in Mielec, Poland. The aircraft was equipped with a dual-frequency Topcon TPS HiperPro receiver, which was recording satellite observations with 1-second interval. The aircraft position was determined using the least-squares method (LSM) in the RTKLIB (RTKPOST module) software. Two research tests were performed within the scope of the experiment, i.e. in test I the aircraft position was determined on the basis of raw GPS observations and the broadcast ephemeris data whereas in test II precision products of the IGS were used, such as: precise ephemeris SP3, DCB hardware delay, clock bias data of GPS satellites and receivers in the CLK format, data of the ionosphere maps based on IONEX format, and phase center calibration of GPS satellites and receivers in the ANTEX format. The use of the IGS precision products improved the accuracy of the X coordinate to 1 m, Y to 0.7 m and Z to 1.3 m. On the basis of tests I and II, an additional RMS-3D parameter was determined, whose mean value was 4 m.

The first PBN approach procedures in Slovakia became operationally effective at Bratislava and Košice airports as of 5 February 2015. The article presents the results of EGNOS Safety-of-Life Service preliminary examination in eastern Slovakia, just before official introduction of these procedures. The practical examination includes static test and test flight made with Cessna plane taking off at the airport in Bidovce — LZBD (just 16 km from international airport in Košice) and passing a route along eastern border of Slovakia. In this region the performance of EGNOS could be unsatisfactory due to lack of RIMS stations to the east from there. The experiment was performed on October 13, 2014 in cooperation of the Air Force Academy in Deblin, the Department of Aviation of Technical University in Košice and University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn.
Pierwsze procedury podejścia do lądowania typu PBN (Performance-Based Navigation) na Słowacji zostały wdrożone na lotniskach w Bratysławie i Koszycach 5 lutego 2015 r. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki wstępnych analiz serwisu Safety-of-Life systemu EGNOS we wschodniej Słowacji, tuż przed oficjalnym wprowadzeniem tych procedur. Eksperyment przeprowadzono 13 października 2014 r. we współpracy Wyższej Szkoły Oficerskiej Sił Powietrznych w Dęblinie, Wydziału Lotnictwa Politechniki w Koszycach oraz Uniwersytetu Warmińsko-Mazurskiego w Olsztynie.

Opis:
[from "Introduction"] The dissertation is divided into four chapters: Chapter I. "Terminological synthesis of concepts: availability, reliability and continuity in literature on navigation" - covers the study of literature in the field of navigation with regard to the three concepts discussed. They will be characterized with respect to both their nature, and methods of determination navigational purposes. As a result of the analysis, drawn will be conclusions related to the existing differences in perception of the terms, narrowing down of their meaning in navigation, as well as constraints of the models recommended. Chapter II. "General model of the availability, reliability and continuity" - here the definition of navigational structure will be constructed. This definition is indispensable for the process of system modeling. The mathematical model of alternative process with restoration will be worked out, based on the mathematical description of navigational systems’ states. As a result, mathematical relations of availability, reliability and continuity will be formulated, describing them on a general level. The same model will enable the transposition to time-related formulas, typical of a number navigation processes, i.e. processes - where distributions of lifetimes and times of failures are expressed by exponential equations. Chapter III. "Classical differential GPS systems"- the main thesis will be considered here and include structural models of differential DGPS transmission, providing, in this way, for making a separate individual navigational structure - differential GPS transmission. Consequently, models and measures of reliability, availability and continuity will be proposed for transmission of the RTCM messages (type 1 or 9-3) commonly used in navigation. Chapter IV. "Differential GPS system network" - presents the validation method of DGPS systems in the areas where multiple coverage of several radiobeacons and reference stations exists. An analogous method of modelling as in the classic systems is proposed. A general validation of transmission methods for differential GPS will also be proposed in this chapter. The issues considered in this dissertation, will exemplify a group of single element models - GPS telemetric transmission - within the complex structure of differential GPS. We can assume that a new scientific area will be opened for future deliberations in the fields related to: 1. Optimisation of decision making process when deploying maritime reference stations (DGPS) or land based (permanent GPS/RTK), taking into account: user reliability features, minimum requirements for the basin (area), maximization of task effectiveness and many others. 2. Advantages of multistation system nets in the aspect of position accuracy and operation reliability, also other typical features influencing exploitation. The mathematical model proposed in this dissertation, fills the gap concerning methodology used to determine the magnitude of reliability, continuity and transmission availability in differential GPS systems on surveying level. Thus, more effective way of use in navigation has been provided. General and particular theory introduced to describe navigation systems by means of reliability characteristics enables theoretical considerations over individual elements and easy integration into more complex structures.
