    Opis:
    Up to now, the co-occurrence of parasites sensu stricto and fungi were confirmed mostly in the orał cavity. The aim of the present parallel parasitological and mycological investigations was to determine co-occurrence of protozoa, helminths and fungi (parasites sensu lato) both in smears from cavity and in stool samples of 93 patients undergoing the non-parasitological treatment in two hospitals of Lower Silesia (Poland). Among the examined patients parasites sensu lato (13 species) were found in 62 cases (63%). Trofozoites of Trichomonas tenax and/or Entamoeba gingivalis as well as fungi (Candida albicans, C. krusei, C. tropicalis and C. pseudotropicalis) occurred in 10% of the examined patients. Almost all infected cases (90%) were joined with infection of common invasion of protozoa and fungi. In stool common invasion of parasites sensu lato (Giardia intestinalis, Entamoeba coli, Ascaris lumbricoides, Taenia sp., Enterobius vermicularis as well as Candida albicans, C. krusei, C. pseudotropicalis, C. guilliermondii and Rhodotorula sp.) were found in 12% of the patiens. The co-occurrence of parasites and fungi was stated in the half of invasions. C. albicans was the most often co-occurring species in alimentary tract.

    Illustrated descriptions of Mosesia pavlovskii, M. sittae and M. microsoma have been presented. These species have been described for the first time in Poland, and two of them - M. sittae and M. microsoma - have not been know in Europe until now. Motacilla flava, Turdus philomelos and T. merula are new hosts of these trematodes. M. sittae has been recognized as an autochthonous species - completing its life cycle in the climatic conditions of Lower Silesia. As for the other two species, the author supposes that their invasion has been connected with the birds' migrations or wintering.

    During the years 1992-1993 terrestrial snails were examined to the infection with larvae of Protostrongylidae family in the South and North of Poland. Using compressor method 2267 terrestrial snails from two areas (Pszczyna and Iława) were examined. Collected gastropods belonged to the following species: Arion subfuscus (45 specimens), Bradybaena fruticum (9), Cepaea nemoralis (29), Succinea putris (2147), Zonitoides nitidus (37). Larvae of three species of Protostrongylidae family were found: Elaphostrongylus cervi, Varestrongylus sagittatus and V. capreoli. The highest extensiveness of invasion of Protostrongylidae was noticed in Succinea putris and reached 23,5% in one of plots in the Iława Forest District. The highest intensity of infection was found in S. putris and was as follows: E. cervi up to 150 larvae, V. sagittatus up to 41, and V. capreoli up to 132 larvae. Besides Z. nitidus (1 specimen) there were not noticed any larvae of Protostrongylidae in other species of terrestrial snails. Average extensiveness of invasion of Protostrongylidae in 1992 and 1993 amounted to 7,2 and 9,5% in Iława, and 13,9 and 9,4% in Pszczyna, respectively. The highest percentage of infested gastropods was noticed in June and July. Similar results were obtained in both biotopes examined.

    In 106 starlings (24 juvenile and 82 adult) 12 species of Nematoda were detected. Five species: Porrocaecum semiteres, Acuaria anthuris, Diplotriaena tricuspis, Thominx contorta, Thominx similis appeared to be new to the parasitofauna of Sturnus vulgaris in Poland. The extensity of the infection with nematodes of juveniles was 66,7% and adults 69,5%. All the species (except P. semiteres) were found in old birds.

    In 39 birds, belonging to 10 species of Falconiformes and Strigiformes, 7 species of Nematoda were detected. Two species: Capillaria falconis and Thominx tenuissima appeared to be new for the Polish fauna. Capillaria falconis and Thominx contorta were found for the first time in Accipiter gentilis and Haliaetus albicilla, and Strix aluco, respectively.

    Opis:
    Frequency of human parasites in selected populations of Silesian region. Epidemiological evaluation of the most frequent human parasitoses in the group of children at age of seven years, in adult patients and in group of Polish citizens coming back from tropics between 1999-2003 was performed. All examined people were Silesian region inhabitants. The biggest average infection prevalence in children from all examined years concerned Enterobius vermicularis, in adult - Giardia intestinalis, while in group of population coming back from tropics - Entamoeba histolytica-like. High percentage of anti-Toxocara canis and Toxoplasma gondii antibodies presence can result from non randomly study group recruitment.

    The study was conducted in four coal mines located in Upper Silesia. A total of 40 specimens were found: 20 from the genus Tarsonemus (Tarsonemidae, Tarsonemida); 9 from the family Pygmephoridae (Tarsonemida); two males of Tyrophagus putrescentiae (Acaridae, Acaridida) and one tritonymph-Tyrophagus sp.; two unidentified larvae (Acaridae, Acaridida); one specimen of Oppia clavipectinata (Oppidae. Orihatida) and 5 other mites from this order. T. putrescentiae and species from the genus Tarsonemus are considered as allergenic mites which may cause sensitization in humans.

    Opis:
    During the studies on trematode fauna of birds from Lower Silesia, the rare species - Urotocus rossitensis (MÜHLING, 1898) - was found. It parasitized in the bursa Fabricii of Sylvia borin, Erithacus rubecula and Turdus philomelos, and in the cloaca of Turdus merula. All these birds are new hosts for U. rossitensis which was recorded for the first time in Poland. It is worth mentioning that the localization of this trematode in the cloaca of T. merula is nontypical, since the parasite has underdeveloped suckers. Morphological and biometrical data give us new information about variability of U. rossitensis. They allow the author to support WILLIAMS' (1960) proposition to include U. fusiformis MCINTOSH, 1935 and U. tholonetensis TIMON-DAVID, 1955 among the synonyms of Urotocus rossitensis (MÜHLING, 1898).
