    Opis:
    The article is devoted to sub-genres of religious texts: sermons, prayers, and religious songs, which are called occasional sermon (kazanie przygodne), occasional prayer (modlitwa przygodna), and occasional religious song (pieśń przygodna), respectively. These sub-genres are intended for situations not included in the liturgical calendar, which occur in normal everyday life. By applying a proper religious text to these situations, they are supposed to gain a sacral dimension. The author analyzes the reasons for the decline in use of the adjective “przygodny” in favour of different terms, which complement the genre names “sermon” and “prayer”. She also tries to point out the reasons for the survival of the name “pieśń przygodna” up to the present day.

    The paper contains the analysis of a fragment of a seventeenth-century monument – a prayer book written by a nun-Carmelite. The selected part: Obiecadło duchowne... is a certain entity, and it stands out from the whole monument due to its form – Abecedarius. The article presents pragmalinguistic view on this text. From the described aspects, one can list: what the analyzed passage says about the sender and the recipient, what was the communication goal of the writer, what type of speech acts the text represents, what functionalities it includes, as well as how the text was formed in terms of language.

    The article is a presentation of the previously undiscussed prayer book Dworskie nabożeństwo, published in 1781 in Kalisz, a city which has a long tradition of publishing, mainly connected with the activities of Jesuits. Currently there are 6 known copies of this anonymously published prayer book (commissioned for print “by a priest of the former order of The Society of Jesus”), including the one unknown to XX century bibliographers, found in the Library of Elbląg, which has been recovered and made available recently. Dworskie nabożeństwo is a book constructed in a very original way. It contains 368 identical hexamerous prayers. Parts of the prayers are placed in tables, in a way that makes the reader consciously reconstruct the whole prayer from the elements divided between different rows in the table.

    In the article, the subject of description included continuous and discontinuous auto-semantic lexical units used in the medieval language (until the end of the 15th century) which are a lexical representation of the concepts of Holy Mass in the Słownik pojęciowy języka staropolskiego online [Conceptual Dictionary of Old Polish online]. The result of onomasiological works on the vocabulary gathered within the concept of HOLY MASS in the Słownik pojęciowy języka staropolskiego [Conceptual Dictionary of Old Polish online] is the categorization of this lexis within subordinate concepts. They include lexical units referring to the name of the service, the maner of its celebration, sermon, sacrifice, rite of peace, holy communion, final blessing, and items related to the holy mass.

    The article is about the Polish version of Prayer for the Faithful Departed (Latin: Oratio pro fidelibus defunctis) in the contemporary prayer books. In the introduction, the origins of the text were described and the multitude of contexts it appears in was pointed out. Subsequently, its presence/absence in the prayer collections, surfacing titles and placement in differently profiled prayer book chapters were discussed.
