The article shows Romany life in Lunik 9 ghetto in Koszyce, Slovakia. The aim of this text is to underline the existence of such place in the modern, civilised world and formulate the reasons of it. Despite the European Union policy, improvement of Romanies living conditions and their functioning in Slovakian society is still dissatisfactory. From one hand the article makes a point of lack of humanity in still changing Slovakian government, but from the other hand it also shows the complexed nature of Romanies and appreciates strenuous work of people who really want to change this situation. Highlighting complicated issues of the case should also make readers give some thought to harmful stereotypes the Romanies often struggle with.

Over the centuries, mankind has been confronted with many threats of various natures, both local and global. One of them is the epidemic of an infectious disease, which modern civilization is currently undertaking many efforts to face. In the past, epidemics such as plagues, Spanish flu or A/ H1N1 flu put the safety of the societies of that time to a very hard test. Similarly, the current Sars-Cov-2 epidemic is undermining the security of all countries in the world. Undoubtedly, functioning at this time is difficult. In order to prevent and control infections, it is essential to follow the recommendations and guidelines issued by the relevant authorities. Any physical contact with third parties should also be restricted. In this difficult period for all, fears and concerns about life and health of one’s own and one’s loved ones may appear. This is also a time when uncertainties and doubts about your future arise. Finally, the duration of the epidemic may favour the emergence of other threats, such as include widespread disinformation about the coronavirus. It is easy to see that the current situation significantly reduces the level of feeling of safety. The aim of this article is to examine how the current coronavirus epidemic affects the safety of Polish citizens. The article consists of a theoretical part, which raises the issue of safety as a need, presents information on the new coronavirus, presents measures to protect against infection and points to disinformation as one of the important threats spread during the ongoing epidemic. The second part has a research character, because it presents the results of the research on safety in the context of the coronavirus epidemic, which were carried out among the citizens of Poland.

Two approaches can be distinguished in research on the problem of morality within security. The first of these is the result of activities that form a person’s environment, determined through harmless technology, social relations, politics, law, etc. They define the conscious creation of a common social heritage. In this sense, security is an emanation of culture and a guarantee of a continued existence protected by civilization and progress. In the second, security is a function of the biological nature of a healthy life (genes, hormones, metabolism, etc.), ability and the fulfilling of the conditions for survival. In this understanding, security is an emanation of nature.  However, ethics, which address both of these dimensions, should construct norms and values and set priorities that support heritage and life, thereby strengthening society. To aid in this necessity, we have a law that enables the possibility of existence in the area of public relations. It is ethics that, by reducing potential threats in the scope of its competencies, corrects faults disrupting the existence of a human-friendly civilization. That is why every activity and all research aimed at creating the conditions for a good life has a security facet supported by science and technology, as well as a moral facet supported by ethics, law and customs. The instruments of this are axiology, aretalogy, deontology, ethology, praxeology and bioethics.

Opis:
Climate change affects all people, regardless of their place of residence, class, skin color or gender. However, some communities are more vulnerable than others to the effects of the climate catastrophe. These groups are often marginalized, discriminated against and underrepresented. Women constitute one such social group. The article shows that they are disproportionately affected by one of the consequences of climate change, which is the more frequent occurrence of extreme weather events that can lead to natural disasters like floods or hurricanes. The purpose of the article is to show that women’s unequal economic status, as well as some cultural norms in certain regions of the world, increase women’s mortality during natural disasters.

The aim of the paper is to review the ancient sources devoted to the sea monster called κάμπη (f. ā-stem). Some researchers believe that it is also attested as κάμπος (n. es-stem). The zoonym in question, so named by the reason of a similarity of the marine animal to a caterpillar, evidently derives from the verb κάμπτω ‘to bend, curve’. The dramatist and philosopher Epicharmus of Kos (ca. 530–440 BC) was probably the first Greek writer who mentioned the sea monster κάμπη. Such a supposition is confirmed by the gloss κάμπη· κῆτος παρὰ Ἐπιχάρμῳ, registered in Hesychius’ lexicon (5th–6th c. AD). According to most modern lexicographers, the alternative form κάμπος n. ‘a sea monster’ is attested in one literary work in the form of the genitive plural καμπέων (Lyc., Alex. 414). The author intends to verify whether the alleged variant κάμπος (n. es-stem) is an authentic lexical item or a doubtful guess.

The subject of the research in this article is China’s energy policy towards Venezuela. The aim is to analyse cooperation in this area from the 1990s to the present day. The article will outline the energy policy of the Middle Kingdom. Then in the next part, Sino-Venezuelan economic relations will be presented, with particular emphasis on the role of crude oil as a resource of most importance. The methods used include document analysis, historical analysis and factor analysis. Hypotheses are: 1) Venezuela was an important partner for China in terms of importing raw materials, but its importance is declining due to internal problems and changes in China’s energy policy. 2) Sino-Venezuelan relations illustrate well the assumptions of China’s energy policy.

The article presents the author’s concept of modeling the entity’s security in quantified qualitative and quantitative categories. At the beginning, an operator formula for security testing was presented, containing three basic arguments: the positive potential of security construction, the negative potential of security destruction, and the random risk of threat transformation. Due to the great universality of these categories, selected definitions and appropriate analytical formulas have been provided for each of them. Individual potential attributes have been decomposed into sets of diagnostic features for which quantified qualitative and quantitative measures have been proposed, which are the basis for establishing synthetic potential indicators. In accordance with the adopted calculation formula, the isolated potential categories and their diagnostic features were used to build synthetic qualitative and quantitative indicators that evaluate the independent variables of the potential formula. The hierarchical aggregation of individual partial values allowed for the derivation of a synthetic measure of the security of a given entity.

Opis:
Boron Neutron Capture Therapy as a tumoricidal modality features selective destruction of tumor cells. It is based on a nuclear reaction which occurs when 10B, accumulated in a cancer cell, is irradiated with thermal neutrons with appropriately selected energy. This therapy is a promising method which allows treatment of tumors that are difficult to operate due to their location, spatial distribution or resistance to traditional methods of therapy. It gives the chance to cure gliomas, head & neck cancer, and above all brain tumors. The success of this therapy depend mainly on improvements in the boron delivery agents, including their pharmacology and intracellular targeting as well as an accurate measurement of the deposited radiation dose. Paralleled by advances in radiobiology, chemistry and dosimetry it is possible to improve the therapy to meet clinical requirements, which gives the opportunity to development and implementation in medical practice. The article presents an outline of current review of BNCT. Several important aspects such as the physical, chemical basics and related challenges are discussed. Moreover, a brief review of the neutron sources used at BNCT clinics and R&D centers is provided.

The paper analyzes the essence of public diplomacy as an instrument of foreign policy. Attention is drawn to the institutional aspects of the implementation of public diplomacy in Ukraine, in particular to governmental and non-governmental initiatives in this area. In the conditions of the Ukraine crisis, Ukrainian public diplomacy is intensifying. In particular, Ukraine has established the Ukrainian Institute, the Ukrainian brand (UkraineNow) has been approved for the first time since independence, and the Department of Public Diplomacy was established at the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The paper also considers the program dimension of Ukrainian public diplomacy, its historical traditions, its contemporary role and significance. It is established that in modern conditions, public diplomacy not only ensures a positive perception of the state by the international community, but also plays an important role in ensuring national security.

The article will compile the assumptions of civil society, in the context of activities undertaken in theframework of penitentiary rehabilitation. The considerations undertaken will take into account two levels of analysis of the participation of representatives of society in interactions with inmates - the possibility of the participation of „outsiders” and the actions taken inside penitentiary institutions. Thus, the possibilities of conscious and autonomous participation of citizens in public life will be presented, considering the legal possibilities of participation in interactions carried out under conditions of solitary confinement. The paper presents an analysis of the influence that the social media have on the modern politics phenomenon. Author shows the growing role of the social media and digitalisation throughout the recent years. She also presents the modern examples of the crucial part of the social media in conducting contemporary politics. The analysis also explains the term of “twiplomacy”, highlighting the moments of today’s diplomatic reality when this term would be adequate. Author also touches the topic of the inclusiveness of the modern politics, created by the social media influence and the possible threats of using this tool for the international security and different disadvantages connected with it. She also shows the influence of the COVID-19 pandemics on this topic. The paper is concluded by the brief considerations about the future of the social media application in politics and diplomacy.
