Opis:
The aim of this study was to determine the effect of abrasive treatment as a method of surface preparation on the strength of adhesive joints made of galvanised steel sheet. The subject of experimental investigations were adhesive joints of samples made of galvanised steel sheet DX51, 0.7 mm thick. The surfaces of the samples were abraded with coated abrasive tools of grain sizes P120, P180, P220, P400 and P600, and then degreased with PIKKO extraction solvent. The surface properties in terms of roughness and 3D surface topography were examined using a Hommel-Etamic T8000 RC120-400. The adhesive joints were made using Epidian 53 epoxy resin adhesive composition and IDA curing agent in a 100:40 weight ratio. Samples of single-lap adhesive joints were tested for strength on a Zwick/Roell Z150 testing machine, in accordance with the PN - EN 1465:2009 standard. The tests showed that the samples mechanically processed with an abrasive tool of P220 gradation show the best strength properties. Adhesive joints, in which the surface of the joined elements was mechanically processed with an abrasive tool of P120 gradation, obtained negative results. The obtained test results were subjected to further statistical analysis. The Shapiro-Wilk test was used to assess the normality of the distribution. Then, the non-parametric Kruskal-Wallis test and the median test were applied, which showed that there were no significant differences in the results obtained between the adhesive joints whose surfaces were prepared with P220 and P400 abrasive paper, i.e. both methods of surface preparation can be considered as the most favourable among those analysed during the adhesive bonding of DX51 galvanised sheets.

Opis:
The clinching joining technology is one of the most popular joining technologies by redrawing sheet material. The joining process parameters, the sheet material and its arrangements influences joints’ strength. Cylindrical axial-symmetrical joints formed by using rigid die and punch are still developed. The change of the rigid die on the die with movable segments affect the forming process and joint strength parameters. So there is a need to do experimental researches of the possibilities of joint formation by unchanged punch geometry and different die shape. In this article the forming process parameters (forming force, process energy consumption and its standard deviations) and joints strength parameters (maximum shearing force, total dissipated energy and dissipated energy up to 0.3 maximum force), according to the ISO 12996 standard, for the joints formed with using die with 2, 3 and 4 movable segments were presented. The punch geometry was unchanged and the minimum thickness of the embossment was also unchanged. For the die with 2 and 4 segments the load force direction influence on the joints strength was also presented.

Opis:
This paper concerns issues related to the processes of sheet metal slitting and laser welding in technological lines. It includes a discussion of the industry needs and requirements for semi-finished products in the form of thin metal sheets. Furthermore, the basic technical solutions used in automatic strip slitting equipment and selected process parameters based on a specific material are described. The presented results were obtained on the basis of practical verification of the assumptions using newly designed devices implemented into production. The research material consisted of samples taken from S235JR sheet after strip slitting on an integrated slitting line and samples taken from a finished sideboard profile after laser welding. The welding process had been carried out using a CO2 laser, TruLaser Cell 1100, with a power of 4kW. Areas of a laser-welded joint were analysed for varied condition of the sheet edges at the production speed of 4m/min. Microscopic weld examination for the sheet edges without strains or burrs revealed a deep penetration at the level of 2355 µm, allowing to obtain a joint with a length of 1607 µm, a small heat-affected zone, and the correct structure. The paper shows possible problems and causes of their occurrence in industrial conditions.

This analysis lays emphasis on finding a suitable combination of shielding gas for welding underframe members such as sole bar of Railway Coaches made of corten steel; for improved mechanical, metallurgical and corrosion properties of welds using copper coated solid MIG/MAG welding filler wire size 1.2 mm conforming to AWS/SFA 5.18 ER 70 S in Semi-automatic GMAW process. Solid filler wire is preferred by welders due to less fumes, practically no slag and easy manipulation of welding torch with smooth wire flow during corrosion repair attention, when compared to Flux cored wire. Three joints using Gas metal arc welding (GMAW) with shielding gases viz., Pure CO2, (80% Ar – 20% CO2 ) and (90% Ar – 10% CO2 ) were made from test pieces cut from Sole bar material of Railway Coach. Study of Mechanical properties such as tensile strength, hardness and toughness revealed that welded joint made using shielding gas (80% Ar – 20% CO2 ) has better Mechanical properties compared to the other two shielding gases and comparable to that of Parent metal. Type of Shielding gas used has influence on the chemical composition and macro & micro structures. The Tafel extrapolation study of freshly ground samples in 3.5% NaCl solution revealed that the welded joint made using shielding gas (80% Ar – 20% CO2 ) has also better corrosion resistance which is comparable to the Parent metal as well as similar commercial steels.

Opis:
This article reports a proposed approach to a frictional resistance description in sheet metal forming processes that enables determination of the friction coefficient value under a wide range of friction conditions without performing time-consuming experiments. The motivation for this proposal is the fact that there exists a considerable amount of factors affect the friction coefficient value and as a result building analytical friction model for specified process conditions is practically impossible. In this proposed approach, a mathematical model of friction behaviour is created using multiple regression analysis and artificial neural networks. The regression analysis was performed using a subroutine in MATLAB programming code and STATISTICA Neural Networks was utilized to build an artificial neural networks model. The effect of different training strategies on the quality of neural networks was studied. As input variables for regression model and training of radial basis function networks, generalized regression neural networks and multilayer networks the results of strip drawing friction test were utilized. Four kinds of Al-Mg alloy sheets were used as a test material.

Opis:
Guides (linear plain bearings) of reciprocating motion are widely used in many areas of human activity. However, at present there are no reasonable methods for their calculation, in particular metal-polymer guides. The author's method of contact strength calculation of cylindrical metal-polymer sliding guides is presented in the article. The effect of load, bushing diameter and radial clearance on the maximum contact pressures and their distribution in the guide was studied on the example of epoxy-based polymer composite material Moglice of the German company DIAMANT Metallplastic GmbH, which is used to restore tribotechnical sliding systems elements. Quantitative and qualitative regularities of dependence of contact pressures on the accepted factors of influence are established: at loading increase four times the maximum contact pressures and contact angles will increase twice irrespective of change of sizes of a radial clearance and diameter of a base; increasing the base diameter leads to a directly proportional decrease in maximum contact pressures; doubling the radial clearance leads to a -fold increase in pressure, regardless of changes in the magnitude of the load and the diameter of the base. Regularities of change of contact parameters from the specified factors are given graphically.

Opis:
The work shows the results of examinations conducted to ascertain the influence of the working power of a vacuum induction crucible furnace (ICF) and a furnace with a cold crucible(CCF), on the surface area of liquid Al-Zn alloy molten within these devices. It was determined that the increase of the value of this parameter causes the increase of the liquid alloys surface area. In the case of smelting alloy inside a crucible furnace the increase of power from 8 to 22 kW causes the increase of liquid alloy surface from 88 to 155 cm2. For a furnace with a cold crucible, the power increase from 70 to 130 kW causes the increase of the alloy surface from 280 to 330,3 cm2. For all power values a larger increase in surface area was observed in crucible furnaces (around two times). In cases of cold crucible furnaces, this increase was around 20%. Additionally, based on the examination results the way in which the surface area of liquid alloy can intensify the undesirable process of zinc fuming away, was discussed. It has been demonstrated that the process of zinc elimination from the examined alloy is more intensive while using a cold crucible induction furnace.

A method of tribological testing of models with such sliding friction using a simple pin-on-disc mechanism was presented. Wear resistance indicators of unfilled polyamides PA6, PA66 and composites based on polyamide PA6+30GF, PA6+30CF, PA6+MoS2, PA6 and oil coupled with steel C45 are determined. They, as polymeric materials with the property of self-lubrication, they are often used in metal-polymer dry friction bearings. Based on them, wear resistance characteristics of these polymeric materials at sliding friction are established. They are used as basic parameters for developed by authors mathematical model of material wear kinetics at sliding friction and analytical research method of metal-polymer sliding bearings research. For comparative assessment of wear resistance of the investigated polymeric materials, their wear resistance diagrams are constructed. Thef show the functional dependence of wear resistance on specific friction forces. It is proved that the wear resistance of materials nonlinearly depends on specific pressure, i.e., the specific friction forces. Qualitative and quantitative influence of the type and structure of fillers (which improve the tribological properties of the base polymer PA6) on their wear resistance has been established. The forecast estimation of durability of metal polymer bearings made of the specified polyamides by the author's method of calculation taking into account their various wear resistance, characteristics of elasticity and conditions of dry friction is carried out. The research results are presented graphically, which facilitates their understanding and analyses.

In this paper, the hot formability of 7075 aluminum alloy sand and permanent casting ingots were verified. The experiment was carried out by using casting, heat treatment (homogenization) of ingots and conducting isothermal compression tests at temperatures of 420-500°C. The effect of the forming temperature on the microstructure, the tendency for crack formation and hardness were determined. The results show that ingots in the as-cast state have a dendritic network structure rich in the second phase precipitation on the grain boundaries. After the homogenization process, the microstructure is significantly more balanced. The forming process at 420-480°C of sand casts leads to significant grain elongation and crack formation, mainly at the grain boundaries. Raising the forming temperature to 480-500°C leads to a reduction in the occurrence of cracks. On the other hand, permanent mold castings do not reveal cracks during deformation in the temperature range 420-480°C.
