Opis:
The cellular extrusion is a method for manufacturing profiles, bars, low density cellular coatings and other cellular products that have no hollow cavities on the surface and show minimal processing shrinkage, while their properties are similar to those of products produced by conventional extrusion. The paper deals with cellular extrusion of PVC. The investigation of the process was conducted using state-of-the-art endothermic and exothermic blowing agents that were dosed in up to 1.5% by weight. The experiments involved measuring output, energy consumption and energy efficiency of the process.

Opis:
As a part of a more comprehensive research project, the present study was undertaken to investigate the effect of the type and content of blowing agents in the polymeric materials being processed on the structure and selected physical and mechanical properties of the obtained extrusion parts. In the experiment, the content of the blowing agent (0–2.0% by mass), fed into the processed polymer were adopted as a variable factor. In the studies presented in the article, the blowing agents of endothermic decomposition characteristics (Hydrocerol BIH 70, Hydrocerol BM 70) and the exothermic decomposition characteristics (PLC 751) occurring in the granulated form with a diameter of 1.2 to 1.8 mm were used. Based on the results of investigating porosity, porous structure image analysis as well as microscopic examination of the structure, it has been found that the favorable content of the blowing agent in the polymeric material should be of up to 0.8% by mass. With such a content of the blowing agent in the polymeric material, favorable strength properties are retained in porous parts, the pore distribution is uniform and the pores have similar sizes.

Opis:
Wireless sensor networks have attracted attention of researchers considering their abundant applications. One of the important issues in this network is limitation of energy consumption which is directly related to life of the network. One of the main works which have been done recently to confront with this problem is clustering. In this paper, an attempt has been made to present clustering method which performs clustering in two stages. In the first stage, it specifies candidate nodes for being head cluster with fuzzy method and in the next stage, the node of the head cluster is determined among the candidate nodes with cellular learning automata. Advantage of the clustering method is that clustering has been done based on three main parameters of the number of neighbors, energy level of nodes and distance between each node and sink node which results in selection of the best nodes as a candidate head of cluster nodes. Connectivity of network is also evaluated in the second part of head cluster determination. Therefore, more energy will be stored by determining suitable head clusters and creating balanced clusters in the network and consequently, life of the network increases.

Opis:
In a study of cellular injection, molding process uses polyvinylchloride PVC. Polymers modified with introducing blowing agents into them in the Laboratory of the Department of Technologies and Materiase of Technical University of Kosice. For technological reasons, blowing agents have a form of granules. In the experiment, the content of the blowing agent (0–2,0% by mass) fed into the processed polymer was adopted as a variable factor. In the studies presented in the article, the chemical blowing agents occurring in the granulated form with a diameter of 1.2 to 1.4 mm were used. The view of the technological line for cellular injection molding and injection mold cavity with injection moldings are shown in figure 1. The results of the determination of selected properties of injection molded parts for various polymeric materials, obtained with different content of blowing agents, are shown in Figures 4–7. Microscopic examination of cross-sectional structure of the moldings were obtained using the author’s position image analysis of porous structure. Based on analysis of photographs taken (Figures 7–9) it was found that the coating containing 1.0% of blowing agents is a clearly visible solid outer layer and uniform distribution of pores and their sizes are similar.

Opis:
In recent years, cellular extrusion of polymers has been one of the fastest growing processing methods. It is used especially to obtain sections, bars, pipes and cellular coatings free from strains on the product surface, displaying reduced density and minimum shrinkage, at the same time maintaining similar properties of products extruded in a conventional way. In order to obtain cellular structure, product properties are modified by application of proper plastics or adding blowing agents. The article provides a description of manufacturing processes of cellular product. It gives characteristics of blowing agents used in the extrusion process and of processing conditions. Also, it discusses selected results of examined properties of the obtained cellular products. As part of the modernization of the cellular extrusion technology the extrusion head was designed and made. During the designing and modeling of the head the Auto CAD programe was used. After the prototyping the extrusion head was tested. In the article specification of cellular extrusion process of thermoplastics was presented. In the research, the endothermal chemical blowing agents in amount 1,0% by mass were used. The quantity of used blowing agent has a direct influence on density and structure of the extruded product of modified polymers. However, these properties have further influence on porosity, impact strength, hardness, tensile strength and another.

Opis:
The Cellular Automata represent a universal method of modelling and simulation. They enable the performance of calculations for even the most complex processes and phenomena. They are also used successfully in mechanical and material engineering. In this paper, the concept of application of the Cellular Automata method for simulating the behaviour of material under stress is presented. The proposed numerical algorithm created performs a number of calculations of local stress states in the structure of precipitation hardened material. The principle of its operation is based on the application of the equivalent truss model, which is often used in the optimisation and design of structures. In this paper, this model was used to simulate a system embodying a section of the material containing various phases with different mechanical properties.

Opis:
This paper is devoted to cellular beams manufactured by flame cutting and welding of hot rolled I-sections. The influence of fabrication processes on the size of geometric and material imperfections was considered. Static performance was characterised, as were the failure modes, with particular emphasis on the Vierendeel mechanism and web-post buckling. As the literature review shows, a local loss of web post stability is a frequent failure mode of cellular beam with closely spaced web openings. The main objective of this paper is present a summary of research on web post buckling (WPB) in cellular beams in light of the available analytical computational methods for determining WPB resistance based on the analogy to compression member buckling. This paper addresses the need for a clear assessment of the discrepancies between the assumptions and calculation algorithms used in the presented methods, so far lacking in the literature. This paper includes an explanation of the essence of the WPB phenomenon, a summary of the basic assumptions and algorithms used in the available methods, a description of the differences between them, and a critical comparison of these methods. The presented algorithms were unified and adjusted to the nomenclature of PN-EN 1993-1-1. For 7 cellular beams, the analytical column buckling resistance under the action of vertical shear force was determined according to 5 analytical methods implemented in MS Excel. The results were presented in tabular and graphical forms. Significant discrepancies between the results from the different methods were shown and discussed. The assumptions of the methods vary significantly. The largest differences between the predicted resistances were observed for narrow posts, while for wider posts, the methods showed better agreement. The lack of clear consensus on the correct design procedure does not encourage designers to optimally design such load-bearing members or may lead to construction disasters. This article indicates the points of disagreement concerning the calculation models used and outlines the direction for further work. A step for future work will be to verify the assumptions of numerical models and establish clear guidelines for designers in the field of analytical calculations
