Opis:
Literature has vastly advocated for incremental sheet forming as a significant process for formation of sheet metal components, because of its higher formability in comparison with the rest of metal forming processes such as deep drawing and stamping. Due to high formability of incremental sheet forming it becomes important to investigate the main factors, influencing the quality of forming products. However, less attention has been given to investigate the inconsistencies reflected often in determining the effect of multiple forming parameters and parametric interactions comprising of spindle rotational speed and feed rate, tool size and sheet thickness, sheet thickness and step depth. This study investigates the effect of various principal factors including tool type, tool size, sheet thickness, spindle speed, feed rate, step increment including and their respective interaction on surface roughness. Research data was collected by undertaking extensive literature review of previous studies on incremental sheet forming regarding surface quality. A quantitative one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was employed to analyze the significance and contribution of factors influencing surface quality of sheet forming. The findings highlight the contribution of forming parameters and their combined interactions on surface roughness. Based on the empirical findings, this study derives implications for the optimization of tool type, parametric interactions among principal factors and their respective optimized operational range for incremental sheet forming.

Opis:
This article reports a proposed approach to a frictional resistance description in sheet metal forming processes that enables determination of the friction coefficient value under a wide range of friction conditions without performing time-consuming experiments. The motivation for this proposal is the fact that there exists a considerable amount of factors affect the friction coefficient value and as a result building analytical friction model for specified process conditions is practically impossible. In this proposed approach, a mathematical model of friction behaviour is created using multiple regression analysis and artificial neural networks. The regression analysis was performed using a subroutine in MATLAB programming code and STATISTICA Neural Networks was utilized to build an artificial neural networks model. The effect of different training strategies on the quality of neural networks was studied. As input variables for regression model and training of radial basis function networks, generalized regression neural networks and multilayer networks the results of strip drawing friction test were utilized. Four kinds of Al-Mg alloy sheets were used as a test material.

Opis:
Due to the increase in the application of titanium components made of thin titanium sheets, in the work titanium panels made of 4 mm thick sheets are analysed. To increase the rigidity of the panels, some cross-shaped stiffeners were made. Such panels enable a reduction in weight while maintaining the existing strength of the drawn parts. Three kinds of commercially pure titanium are considered: Grade 1, 2 and 3. Numerical calculations were performed with PamStamp 2G based on the finite element method. The basic mechanical and technological properties of the analysed sheets, which are necessary for numerical modelling, were determined by static tensile testing. The friction coefficient was assumed based on the literature. On the basis of the performed numerical analyses, it was stated that the proper forming of panels with stiffeners depends not only on the drawability of the sheets but also on the technological parameters such as blank holder force and frictional conditions.

Opis:
The paper reports the results of a study on the effect of selected conditions of a pressure-bubble vacuum forming for polystyrene sheet on the non-uniformity of wall thickness of finished parts. The investigation was performed using DOE methods. Variables for the tests included temperatures in the external and internal zones of the heaters as well as heating time. The results demonstrate that the heating time and temperature in the internal zone formed by the heater have a statistically significant effect on the finished part’s wall thickness at the measuring points. It has been found that the side walls and bottom of the finished part are uniformly deformed, and thus exhibit the lowest wall thickness non-uniformity at a heating time of 22s (corresponding to the middle of the measuring range). Also, it is observed that the application of low temperatures in both zones of the heater has a positive effect. Due to the use of bubble, the finished parts exhibit a much lower wall thickness non-uniformity compared to those produced without bubble.

Opis:
The final accuracy of the parts formed using single point incremental forming greatly depends on the mechanical properties of the material to be formed and the residual stress formation. In this paper, an X-ray diffraction technique was used to study the distribution of the residual stress along the generating line of the conical drawpiece. A DC04 steel sheet with a thickness of 0.8 mm was used as a test material. The basic mechanical properties of the DC04 sheet metal were determined in the uniaxial tensile test according to the EN ISO 6892–1:2016. It was found that the maximum amount of the residual stress existed in a point located in the midway between a base and a truncation of the drawpiece. In the outer surface of the drawpiece, the orange peel defect associated with a rough surface appearance after SPIF a drawpiece, was observed. In contrast, the inner surface of component was characterized by linear grooves associated with the interaction of tool tip with the sheet surface. This defect is mainly influenced by vertical step size.
